Chapter 526 Who Dares to Touch Them
As soon as Nolan spoke, people swarmed in from all directions. Reese and Malcolm were shocked Nolan had this trick up his sleeve.
Malcolm frowned, his eyes cold. "What's this about, Nolan?"
Nolan snapped, "If you don't tell me where Everhart is, I'll take you all in. Someone will come looking for you eventually. If Everhart stays hidden, none of you are getting away."
Sebastian, barely holding back his anger, cut in, "Nolan, are you nuts? Kidnapping us was your plan all along, huh? I knew you were up to something!"
Reese's face was icy, and Alyssa, standing next to her, felt a chill and stepped back.
Reese's presence was intense.
She glared at Nolan. "Do you know where you are? Kidnapping people in front of a police station? You want to go back inside?"
Alyssa added, "Yeah, are you out of your mind? Who kidnaps people in front of a police station?"
Nolan, full of confidence, said, "It's midnight, most of the cops are off duty. You think I'll let you get inside?"
With that, Nolan raised his hand, and his people moved in, ready to subdue them.
Before Reese and the others could react, a commanding voice rang out. "Who dares touch them?"
Startled, Nolan turned to see another group, just as large, ready to confront him. Malcolm felt relieved and even smiled a bit when he saw Giedon.
Nolan hadn't expected to run into Giedon here. Was this part of their plan?
Sebastian didn't know what was happening, but he could tell these were their people. He taunted, "See, Nolan? We've got our people too. Ready to rumble or getting cold feet?"
Nolan's face turned pale with displeasure.
Giedon stepped forward, eyes locked on Nolan. His presence was imposing.
"Nolan, if you have a problem, come at me. Why always go after Malcolm and Reese?"
Nolan sneered, "Giedon, don't get cocky. One day, I'll make sure your Harmony Alliance disappears from Atlanta."
Giedon, casually twirling a coin, said, "Come on, Nolan, we've known each other for years. We both know what we can do, so why boast? Besides, I heard Everhart has something on you. Otherwise, you wouldn't be so desperate to find him."
Giedon's words hit Nolan hard. Everhart was a ticking time bomb he wanted to eliminate personally. Now, not only had Everhart escaped, but he was also in Reese's hands.
He'd rather Everhart be with anyone else than Reese. It was dangerous for him. As long as Everhart was missing, he couldn't feel at ease.
Nolan weighed his options, realizing a fight with Giedon wouldn't end well. Swallowing his pride, he said, "Giedon, I'll let it go today. Next time, you won't be so lucky."
Giedon, with his wild demeanor and decent looks, could be quite captivating if he were a woman. "We'll be waiting."
Nolan's jaw clenched in anger. "Let's go!" he ordered, and his men quickly dispersed into the night.
As Nolan left, Giedon also had his men withdraw. Being near a police station, even a minor scuffle could lead to serious trouble.
With just a few of them left, Giedon asked Malcolm, "Malcolm, if I hadn't been tipped off, how would you have handled today?"
Malcolm remained calm. "At the police station, what could he do?"
He wasn't worried. If Nolan made a move here, he could have him detained, giving him no time to find Everhart.
Reese seemed particularly relaxed. "Nolan's really desperate. Otherwise, he wouldn't try something at the police station."
She knew Nolan's desperation might work in their favor. People made mistakes when panicked.
Sebastian grabbed Reese's arm, more excited than scared. "Reese, who is this? You all seem so impressive."
Alyssa, unfazed, teased, "Can you be more confident and drop the 'seem'?"
Sebastian shrugged. "In my heart, Reese is the most impressive."
Reese noticed it was getting late. If Sebastian didn't get home soon, the Hawthorne family might worry. Before she could say anything, Malcolm read her mind.
Malcolm told Giedon, "You go back first. I'll take Sebastian home."
"I'll send someone to take him. You two go straight home," Giedon said, making a call. Soon, a car arrived.
Malcolm agreed, but Sebastian hesitated to leave Reese. He realized this was the longest they'd spent together without her usual aloofness.
Sensing a shift, Sebastian felt hopeful. He grabbed Reese's hand, trying to act cute. "Reese, can I see you tomorrow?"
Reese refused, "I'm busy tomorrow."
"What about the day after?"
"I have plans then too."
Sebastian pouted, looking hurt. "Reese, you just don't want to see me, huh? Are you mad at me?"
Reese, annoyed by his whining, placed her hands on his shoulders. "Can you be quiet for a moment? Show some dignity, okay? Stand tall, exude grace, and stop chattering. Why so many words?"
