Chapter 578 I'll Bury You with Me
Justin saw Malcolm getting beaten up, and his face went pale. He rushed over to break it up. "Mr. Hawthorne, you better think twice before you throw another punch!"
Alexander was fuming and didn't give a damn about anything else. He'd just found out that Sebastian had tagged along with his racing friends to this dump.
Sebastian's pals said he spotted this factory and thought his family could use it, so he sent everyone else packing to check it out himself.
Others might be clueless, but Alexander knew the score.
Lately, both the Flynn family and the cops had been hunting for Nolan. Alexander knew exactly who Nolan was.
Nolan used to be the guy everyone was scared of, and now, being cornered like this, no one knew what he would do; nor did anyone wanted to find out.
With bloodshot eyes, Alexander grabbed Malcolm by the collar and snarled, "If you're looking for someone, fine, but why drag Sebastian into this? He's just a kid. If anything happens to him, our Hawthorne family won't let you off the hook!"
Malcolm kept his mouth shut, and Calvin didn't dare step in because Reese had thought long and hard about it and decided Sebastian shouldn't be involved.
Calvin stood aside and said, "Reese didn't ignore Sebastian's safety. She told him to report any sketchy stuff to her. He wasn't supposed to be in danger and could bail anytime. We never thought he'd actually go into that tunnel. That was his call. What's that got to do with us? Besides, Reese is the one in real danger!"
Justin chimed in, "The tunnel here leads outside. Even if Nolan took Sebastian, they would've split ages ago. So, Mr. Hawthorne, if you don't want things to get worse, you better let go of Mr. Flynn!"
Alexander sneered, "You guys must be joking. The Hawthorne family and the Flynn family have been at each other's throats for ages. The Flynn Group is even gunning for our projects. Isn't that enough of a rift? You let Sebastian come to this hellhole without our family's say-so. If anything happens to him, can you handle the fallout?"
Malcolm, with blood trickling from his mouth and a cold stare, didn't flinch. He suddenly let out a mocking laugh. "So, only Sebastian counts as Hawthorne family, but Reese doesn't?"
Alexander was taken aback for a moment, and in a flash, Malcolm's fist connected with his face.
The two started brawling.
But Alexander was no match for Malcolm and got his ass kicked.
Pinned to the ground, Alexander glared up at Malcolm, refusing to back down. "Reese and you are always scheming to steal our projects. Should we still treat her as family?"
Malcolm shouted, "You guys hurt her first. With her current power, and me backing her, the Hawthorne family is nothing but ants. If we want you gone, you won't see tomorrow. So, Alexander, you better show some respect. Just for what you said, if anything happens to my wife, your Hawthorne family will pay with your lives!"
Alexander was stunned by Malcolm's fierce attitude.
Calvin, seeing the Hawthorne family members, also got pissed. Thinking about all the crap Reese had gone through, he felt a surge of anger. "People like you don't deserve to be Reese's family. Even if she was part of your family, you wouldn't accept her. You always think Reese wants your money. Does Reese need your Hawthorne family's money?"
People like this were the most ridiculous. They always assumed everyone was out to get their cash.
Even now, they only cared about Sebastian.
To avoid making things worse, Calvin held back from tearing Alexander apart.
Alexander stubbornly refused to admit, "So what? Our Hawthorne family has always been just a few people. Suddenly, a sister shows up out of nowhere. Who could accept that?"
Malcolm now looked at Alexander with disdain and coldly sneered. "That's just you. Any other family, knowing there's such a capable and attractive person out there, wouldn't treat her like a thief. Your Hawthorne family only has Sebastian as the sensible one."
Alexander demanded, "Where is Sebastian now?"
Malcolm hated people like Alexander the most, asking for help but still acting all high and mighty.
Malcolm wasn't about to tell Alexander. He hadn't even found his wife yet, so why should he care about him? "Can't you do your own damn investigating? Isn't the Hawthorne family supposed to be all-powerful? Can't even find your own brother?"
Alexander jabbed a finger at Malcolm. "If it weren't for Reese, would our Sebastian have ended up in this hellhole?"
Malcolm raised an eyebrow, his gaze sharp, matching Alexander's intensity both in demeanor and words. "If you put it that way, I should blame Sebastian. Reese made it crystal clear: if he saw anything sketchy, he should bail immediately to stay safe. Who knew he'd go in? If he hadn't, would Reese have followed him in to find him?"
Calvin, listening to this logic, would've given Malcolm a high-five if the situation allowed it.
Alexander barked orders to his crew, "What are you standing around for? Go find Sebastian now! If you can't find him, you're dead meat!"
One of the assistants, worried about Alexander's beat-up face, hesitated. "Mr. Hawthorne, shouldn't you get your face patched up first?"
Alexander's usually handsome mug was now bruised, with blood at the corner of his mouth, looking like a mess. Alexander snapped, "Didn't you hear me? Go find Sebastian now!"
"Yes, sir."
The crew scrambled.
Sebastian was the golden boy of the Hawthorne family. If anything happened to him, the family would go nuts.
Malcolm glanced sideways and saw the search team still standing around. He shouted angrily, "What are you waiting for? Start searching!"
The rescue team quickly got to work.
Calvin had already informed Ryan and the others. They had the right to know about Reese's situation.
When Ryan and Louis arrived and saw the collapsed tunnel, their faces turned pale.
Louis grabbed Calvin by the collar, "What the hell is going on? Wasn't everything fine a few days ago? Calvin, don't tell me Reese is in there."
Calvin hung his head and said nothing.
Louis, desperate, wanted to hit someone. "Answer me! What happened to Reese?"
Calvin had no choice but to explain the situation to Ryan and Louis. Louis clenched his fist, ready to punch Calvin in the face. "Are you stupid? Why did you let Reese go in? You know that no matter what mission we were on, she always put her life last."
Reese wasn't as cold as she appeared. She was more caring than anyone else, which explained why they had been loyal to her for so many years, without any second thoughts.
Calvin, overwhelmed by Louis's words, started slapping himself. "It's all my fault. I should have stopped Reese, even if she threatend to kill me. I shouldn't have let her go in."
Malcolm, seeing the chaos, became even more agitated. "Reese might still be alive. Can you stop being so damn pessimistic? Blaming yourselves won't solve anything. Besides, it's not your fault. You know Reese's temper. Even if you insisted, she wouldn't have let you take the risk."
Ryan, Louis, and Calvin all agreed. Reese always put her life last and theirs first.
But given the current situation, they didn't know what to do. With the tunnel collapsed, they couldn't guarantee whether Reese was alive or dead.
Justin noticed Malcolm's fatigue. Even though Malcolm was trying to keep it together, Justin could see he was struggling.
He tried to comfort Malcolm, "Mr. Flynn, you need to stay calm. If you can't hold it together, what will happen to Mrs. Flynn?"
Malcolm knew that finding Reese and Nolan depended entirely on him. If he fell apart, what then?
He took a deep breath and said to Justin, "Go get Sofia. I have some questions for her."
"Yes, sir."
Justin went to get Sofia. She stood in front of Malcolm.
"Mr. Flynn."
"Did you find Nolan?"
Sofia looked surprised, "How did you know I was looking for Nolan?" She hadn't told anyone.
"You don't need to know how I do. Did you find Nolan or not?"
Sofia shook her head in disappointment, "No, Nolan wasn't there. There was only a phone call from Nolan. He somehow found out I was deceiving him and that I had informed you. He said he would kill my grandmother."
At this, Sofia broke down, tears streaming down her face. "I don't know what to do. My grandmother is aged. Even if he doesn't kill her, just tormenting her a few times could be fatal."
Malcolm sternly told her, "Don't worry. I'll handle this as quickly as possible. We need to catch Nolan soon."
If it weren't for Nolan, Reese wouldn't be in trouble. Everything was because of Nolan!
