Chapter 423 Revenge

Clora said earnestly, "Actually, Mrs. Flynn, there's no need to be troubled by this. If they make people feel this way, then the atmosphere in their home won't feel loving either. You should be grateful you're not part of such an environment. Over time, it would change your outlook on life."

Reese was a bit surprised by this, "So, Clora, you mean they treat everyone this way, not just me?"

"If you pay attention, you'll realize that people like them never seek family love, only benefits. Mrs. Flynn, you used to handle such matters rationally. Why are you so confused this time? You're great; don't let trivial matters affect your judgment of the world."

After speaking, Clora didn't continue to nag. She knew Reese was a smart girl who could figure things out on her own. Everyone encounters bottlenecks; the important thing is how to break through, not to be unable to get out.

Reese seemed to have an epiphany after hearing Clora's words. Why was she troubled by such things? There are so many things in the world that can't be forced. She couldn't even force herself, so why force others?

If some things can't go as she wishes, then just let them go. Don't make things difficult for others, and don't make things difficult for herself.

The gloom on her face suddenly turned into a smile. Reese stood up and called out, "Clora, thank you."

Clora also smiled. "I'm glad you figured it out. Mrs. Flynn, drink your coffee before it gets cold."

"Yes, thank you."

After Clora left, Reese took a sip of coffee and suddenly felt the rich flavor spreading in her mouth, and her mood improved a lot.

She turned on her computer and made a call to Calvin.

Calvin didn't know Reese had gone to the Hawthorne family, but she always called when she had something important, so he asked straightforwardly.

"Reese, what can I do for you?"

"Check if the Hawthorne Group has any projects they're planning to invest in recently."

Calvin immediately understood.

"Reese, are you planning to snatch a few projects from them?"

"Alexander from the Hawthorne family drugged me. Do you think I should let that go?"

"What! Is Alexander crazy? You're his sister, and he still did that. Even if you haven't been close or lived under the same roof, you're still blood-related. He went this far? Reese, punish him!"

Daring to drug Reese, Alexander must want to die.

Calvin had been with Reese for a long time and had never heard of anyone daring to drug her. Using such a despicable method was indeed vile.

Reese was confused at the time, but now she had thought it through. Since she couldn't change others, she would act according to her own style.

She told Calvin, "Go check now."

"I'll tell you the results in two minutes, and then we can start. But Reese, be prepared. If Alexander finds out what you're doing, he might go all out against you."

Reese sneered and said, "He's lying in bed right now. Even if someone tells him, he can't do anything."

Calvin was puzzled. "Why is he in bed?"

"He took me back to the Hawthorne family while I was unconscious and threatened my husband. Do you think I can let that go?"

Calvin was stunned again. "Alexander completely crossed the line with you."

"Stop wasting time. Who knows how much more he has done while we're talking."

"Got it."

Calvin hung up and quickly got to work.

After finding out, he sent the information to Reese's email. Reese shared the file with the group and called everyone to start working.

When Malcolm came in, Reese had already started working on her tasks, surrounded by piles of documents. It seemed she didn't plan to rest today.

But seeing her regain her state of mind was comforting. His wife couldn't be easily defeated.

Malcolm had always said that as long as she wanted to do something, no matter the situation or difficulty, he would do his best to fulfill her wishes.

After a while, Reese finished her coffee and was about to get another cup when she opened the door and saw Malcolm standing there.

"Honey, why didn't you come in?"

"I saw you were busy and didn't want to disturb you." He noticed that Reese's eyes seemed to have regained sparkle, looking completely different from when she returned from the Hawthorne family.

Indeed, sometimes, it depended on whether one wanted to figure things out. As long as she wanted to move forward, she could hold her back.

Reese knew Malcolm was worried about her. He was the one who truly stayed by her side and never abandoned her.

Malcolm used to think she didn't rely on him enough because she feared she wasn't needed. At first, he might not have minded, but over time, it could become frustrating.

However, now, she was slowly opening up. She could choose not to trust others, but Malcolm, she felt she could take a chance on him.

Reese took the initiative to say, "Can you help me? I might not be able to handle this alone."

Malcolm's smile deepened, and he agreed readily, even with a bit of joy.

"If my wife asks, how can I refuse?"

"Let me make some coffee first." Reese said, holding her cup.

"Make one for me, too," Malcolm added.

Reese had already reached the stairs and replied, "Got it."

Malcolm's lips curled up, feeling instantly happier. His wife's gentleness was truly unmatched.

He walked into the room and saw the documents on Reese's desk, which seemed to be new media projects. His eyes grew complicated; his wife was planning revenge.

But that was in line with Reese's character. He didn't need her to be overly kind, just not to get hurt, and that would be enough.

Malcolm believed his wife could handle it. She was sensible and wouldn't act recklessly. The Hawthorne family's actions had indeed hurt her.

However, taking over these projects would take at least a month. The Hawthorne family was a top player in this industry. For two newcomers, snatching projects from experienced hands wouldn't be easy.

But he believed that as long as Reese wanted it, she could achieve it. There was no doubt about that.

When Reese returned, she saw Malcolm sitting in her previous spot, looking at the documents on the desk.

She walked over. "Any thoughts?"

"We might need some connections. How about this finding a suitable office space in the next couple of days. We need a proper office and then recruit some people for this sector."
