Chapter 28 No Wonder She's My Wife

Reese leaned in close, her lips almost brushing Alyssa's. "Having breakfast, what else?" she asked, all casual-like.

Alyssa, nerves jangling, thought Reese was about to force-feed her again. Reese was strong, and Alyssa knew she couldn't break free if it came to that. Feeling awkward, she plopped back down in her seat.

Reese found Alyssa's scaredy-cat look kinda funny. After downing her milk, she tossed a casual comment Alyssa's way. "Look, it's a fact that I married Malcolm. You can't change that. If we argue, you'll lose. If we fight, you'll lose even harder. So, might as well chill out."

With that, Reese grabbed her bag and strutted out, giving Alyssa a little wave goodbye. Alyssa watched her leave, fuming, cheeks puffed up like a chipmunk. She slammed the table—Reese was just too damn arrogant!

But what could she do? She couldn't handle Reese on her own. So, she called Vincent, turning on the waterworks and whining.

"Vincent, you gotta come back quick. The woman Malcolm married is destorying our home."

Vincent was still abroad, caught up in some medical research. He rarely came back to The Flynn Villa 'cause he hated the vibe there, especially seeing Malcolm—it just dredged up bad memories. He'd heard their grandpa had set Malcolm up with a fiancée, supposedly to fulfill some old marriage agreement.
"What happened, Alyssa? Who's messing with you?"

"It's that Reese chick. She's hanging around, claiming she can fix Malcolm's leg. I want her out. Vincent, you gotta help me."

Vincent was taken aback by that. His voice got all tense. "She said she can cure Malcolm's leg?"

"Yeah, Malcolm says he can already feel something in his leg." Alyssa didn't think much of it; she just wanted Vincent to come back and boot Reese out so she could have another ally.

Vincent snapped out of it. "Alright, I'll come back in a couple of days to check it out. Don't start any fights, though. Remember, she's Malcolm's wife."

"Vincent... don't say that. I can't stand her."

Alyssa pouted, looking all displeased. Vincent hung up, his calm demeanor shattered, his voice turning icy cold. "Book a flight for the day after tomorrow."

His assistant, Alex Evans, who was not only a doctor at the medical school but also a VP at the subsidiary company, stepped forward. "Mr. Flynn, there's a surgery scheduled at the hospital the day after tomorrow. Are you sure you want to go back then?"

Vincent's sinisterly handsome face filled Alex's view, his dark eyes flashing with a chilling coldness. "If I don't go back soon, everything I've worked so hard for might be gone."

"Understood."

Malcolm got the news pretty quick. Justin said, "Mr. Malcolm Flynn, Mr. Vincent Flynn is coming back the day after tomorrow. He's already booked the flight."
Malcolm sat in his chair, rocking that suit and tie combo. The black suit just made him look even colder and more unapproachable, but damn, his chiseled, handsome face had people swooning. Just sitting there, he had this king-like presence. His lips curled into a cold, charming smile. "He couldn't hold back after all."

As long as Malcolm stayed paralyzed, Vincent wouldn't be in a rush. But the moment he heard Malcolm might recover, he'd start freaking out and come running back. What a good brother, huh?

Justin bowed his head slightly. "What should we do now?"

A dark glint flashed in Malcolm's eyes. "He doesn't want me to get better, but I won't let him stop me."

Justin looked a bit worried. "But if that's the case, Mr. Vincent Flynn might target Mrs. Reese Flynn."

After all, Reese was the key player now. Whether Malcolm's leg could be cured depended entirely on her.

Hearing this, Malcolm's eyes suddenly sharpened, and his aura became so intense that the temperature in the office seemed to drop. His voice carried a deadly hostility. "If he dares to harm my wife, he won't live in peace."

Justin was dumbfounded. The once aloof Malcolm had turned into a wife-protecting maniac. Anyone who dared to mess with his little wife would be obliterated in an instant. No doubt about it.

He couldn't quite get what was so special about Reese that she had Malcolm wrapped around her finger. Then he remembered a funny story he heard from the servants this morning and thought it was worth sharing with Malcolm.
"Mr. Flynn, this morning I heard from the servants that during breakfast, Mrs. Reese Flynn and Miss Alyssa Flynn had a serious argument. Mrs. Reese Flynn ended up forcefully pouring water into Miss Alyssa Flynn's mouth."

Malcolm stayed silent, like he was frozen. Justin thought for sure he'd be pissed, given that Alyssa was also someone he doted on—the little princess of the house, whom no one dared to mess with. But then, Malcolm's smile grew wider, like he was actually pleased.

"No wonder she's my wife."

Justin was stunned by his reaction.

Around noon, Calvin came to see Reese and brought some bad news. The company had been hacked by another company's hackers, and their team couldn't handle it. If the information got stolen, they'd suffer heavy losses.

Hearing this, Reese packed her things and was about to leave when she ran into Everly, who had just learned from Alyssa that Malcolm had bought Reese a priceless bracelet. She was so mad she almost tore the office apart. But realizing she was still at the company and that throwing a tantrum would lead to gossip among her colleagues, she held back. But even fate would help her by letting her run into Reese. No way she was letting her go.

Everly put on a serious face, exuding the authority of a director. "It’s work hours, where do you think you're going?"

"I'm going out for a bit. You can dock my pay."

Reese said this in a hurry, trying to bypass Everly. But Everly wasn't having it and shouted sternly, "Reese, stop right there!"
