Chapter 377 She Is My Sister
"Yes, I must go. Since Stephen ignored my warning, he must receive the punishment he deserves."
The Hawthorne family repeatedly provoked her. Did Stephen really think she was easy to bully?
Since the Hawthorne family had no regard for their reputation, Reese did not need to hold back. It was time to settle old scores.
Malcolm saw the confidence in Reese's eyes and knew that the Hawthorne family was in trouble again.
However, whether this plan would succeed depended on Reese's abilities.
Malcolm raised an eyebrow, looking forward to the banquet tomorrow. Reese was about to make a scene.
"Shall I send someone over tomorrow to help you dress up nicely?" he asked.
"No need. Do I need to dress up specially to meet them? Are they even worthy?" she said.
Reese truly looked down on the Hawthorne family.
Malcolm gave Reese a thumbs up. "It is truly your style."
The next day, Sebastian stood at the entrance of the banquet, looking around.
"Is Reese coming or not?"
Stephen noticed how eagerly Sebastian was waiting, a rare sight as Sebastian usually had a short attention span.
This time, Sebastian had only met Reese for a short time, but he was unusually interested.
"Do you like Reese that much?"
"Of course! Where else can you find such a powerful woman? She can do everything, especially that retaliation that day. She took down the company's backend in no time," Sebastian boasted.
Benjamin signaled to Sebastian to stop. This was a sore spot for Mr. Hawthorne. Since the last incident, they had spent a fortune restoring the Hawthorne Group's stocks. Sebastian's words only reopened old wounds.
Stephen's gaze was sharp as needles, all directed at Sebastian.
"If you say one more word, you'll be out of here!"
Sebastian realized Stephen was angry and fell silent, continuing to look around.
A white car pulled up at the entrance, drawing much attention, especially with the sound of its engine. People started gossiping.
"Is that this year's limited edition car?"
"It's very expensive, not everyone can afford it."
"Incredible."
"Whose car is this?"
The car door opened, and Alyssa stepped out, marveling at the luxurious hotel.
It was clear the Hawthorne family had spared no expense for this birthday celebration. Reese and Malcolm got out of the car, and Alyssa linked arms with Reese.
"Reese, look at this grandeur. I think when Aiden has a birthday, we'll have to celebrate in style like this."
"Malcolm will surely arrange it well."
Reese brought Alyssa along after discussing it with Malcolm. Alyssa was old enough to marry, but her mind was focused on games.
As Reese, Malcolm, and Alyssa climbed the steps, Sebastian intercepted them.
"Reese, you finally come. I've been waiting for you. I thought you wouldn't come today."
Sebastian looked at Reese with a pleading expression, a stark contrast to his arrogance when they first met.
However, Reese remained indifferent to Sebastian's warmth. Her cold demeanor didn't change, especially when she saw Stephen beside him.
Before Reese could speak, Alyssa, unable to contain herself, questioned Sebastian directly.
"Hey, who are you? Why are you speaking to her so casually? She has no relation to you. Stop that."
Reese was her idol, untouchable by anyone. Alyssa couldn't risk some random guy interfering and jeopardizing her position.
Only now did Sebastian notice Alyssa beside him, finding her attractive but a bit too arrogant.
Facing her question, Sebastian confidently replied. "Reese is my sister, my real sister."
"Sebastian, stop talking nonsense. Don't force me to embarrass you in front of everyone."
At the mention of being siblings, Reese's emotions fluctuated. Her expression turned cold, warning Sebastian.
Reese wanted no ties with the Hawthorne family. Her presence was solely to inform Stephen that she could handle his schemes and make him pay.
The daughter was not easy to find, and the wife was not easy to abandon.
Sebastian was a bit afraid of Reese. She was different from the women he usually knew. She was a woman who always acted as she said.
He didn't want to be lectured by a woman in front of everyone. If he didn't handle this well, he would lose face in front of his brothers.
He could only retreat. "You go in first. Even if you don't recognize me as your brother, we have plenty of time to get to know each other."
Reese was even more tempted to hit him.
Malcolm put his arm around Reese, subtly guiding her. "Let's go inside, Reese."
Reese understood Malcolm's hint, reminding herself not to act impulsively. If she acted now, they wouldn't learn about Stephen's next movement.
With a tight-lipped smile, she passed by Stephen without a glance and entered the venue.
Watching Reese's cold and elegant figure, Sebastian couldn't help but comment.
"Tell me, Daddy, how could you have abandoned such a beautiful daughter like her?"
Stephen glared at Sebastian and pointed inside. "You go in too!"
His first two sons were nothing like him. Did God send Sebastian as punishment? His words alone could infuriate everyone.
Alyssa was always curious, especially about Reese this time.
She stuck close to Reese, bombarding her with questions. "Reese, what's the relationship between you and that guy just now?"
"There is no relationship." Reese clearly didn't want to discuss Sebastian.
"But why did he call you his sister, his real sister?" Alyssa was completely engrossed in the matter now, but Reese remained silent.
After a moment, Alyssa exclaimed as if discovering a new continent. "Reese, could you be the daughter of the Hawthorne family?"
