Chapter 590 If You Win, I'll Marry You
Alyssa looked around, totally baffled. "When did I get mad? Let me make this clear, he ain't my husband!"
Everyone nodded like bobbleheads.
"Right, not Alyssa's husband. Just a fiancé for now. No rumors."
Sebastian quietly whipped out his phone and started texting his buddies.
Alyssa didn't even notice.
Everyone knew Alyssa had a short fuse, so they kept their mouths shut.
Alyssa pointed at Sebastian, who had this smug grin, and gave him a warning. "If you keep spouting crap, I'll chop you up!"
Sebastian didn't even flinch. Instead, he sighed like he was disappointed. "If I knew Ms. Flynn's words were just hot air, I would've recorded what you said at the hospital. Then you couldn't deny it!"
Alyssa was about ready to deck him. "Sebastian, are you for real?"
"Alyssa, can you chill? You are the one who said you wanted to marry me. You even said we're a team now. How can you back out? With your temper, I'm probably the only guy who can handle it. Any other dude would end up in a cast if they ticked you off." Sebastian was just as good at this back-and-forth.
She shot him a side-eye, "Aren't you scared of getting your arms and legs broken? Your family treats you like gold. If you marry me, you'll be miserable every day. The Hawthorne family would flip out on the Flynn family."
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, amused. "You sure you can break my arms and legs?"
He wasn't one to be easily messed with.
Alyssa's competitive side kicked in, and she started rolling up her sleeves. "Wanna have a try?"
Sebastian raised his hand, "No need. I don't fight with women."
Besides, she was gonna be his wife. If she got hurt, he'd have to deal with it.
The folks in the studio watched their banter and didn't sense any real beef. Instead, it felt like they were flirting.
They didn't dare say it out loud in front of Alyssa, so they whispered among themselves.
"Why do I think they look good together?"
"I can smell the love in the air."
"It's the first time I've seen someone stand up to Alyssa. Gotta respect this guy's guts."
"This is what they call a match made in heaven!"
Just then, a uniformed person pushed a cart in and asked.
"Excuse me, did someone named Hawthorne order coffee?"
Sebastian raised his hand, "Yeah, that was me."
"Please sign here."
"Sure thing."
Sebastian walked up and signed. The staff member politely said, "Enjoy."
As the staff member was about to leave, Alyssa quickly called out, "Hold up."
The staff member turned around. "Yes, ma'am, something else?"
"We didn't order this. Cancel it."
"Sorry, we can't cancel orders once they're placed. Have a good day."
With that, the staff pushed his cart and left.
Alyssa turned, her face full of anger, "Sebastian..."
"Come on, everyone, grab some coffee. You'll probably feel sleepy this afternoon. A little caffeine will perk you right up."
Everyone heard this and thought it would be foolish not to take advantage.
"Thanks, Alyssa's fiancé."
"Yeah, thanks. When you and Alyssa tie the knot, make sure to invite us."
"Right, Alyssa may have a temper, but she's straightforward and never beats around the bush with us."
"Yeah, and she never delays our paychecks. Alyssa is really great."
Alyssa watched as her employees surrounded Sebastian, treating him like one of their own.
She saw her employees happily taking the coffee Sebastian handed out. "Why do I feel like you all can't wait for me to get hitched?"
The employees smiled awkwardly.
"Alyssa, we were complimenting you. We're thinking about your happiness."
"Yeah, look at Mr. Hawthorne, handsome and loaded. More importantly, he looks like he'd really care for his wife. You'll definitely be happy with him."
Sebastian enjoyed their words, handing out coffee while saying, "When we have the wedding, you all must come. Let's make it a big celebration."
Alyssa couldn't take it anymore. She walked up and pulled Sebastian aside. "What's all this about a celebration..."
Sebastian said cheekily, "The wedding, of course."
Alyssa was about to explode, "When did I say I was going to marry you?"
"You said it at the hospital. So many people heard it. You can't deny it." Sebastian pointed at her, reminding her again.
Alyssa felt regretful. She wished she could slap herself. Why did she say that without thinking?
She took a deep breath, trying to stay calm and then seriously told Sebastian, "Let me tell you again, I was just talking out of my ass. I didn't really mean to marry you. Besides, I don't plan on getting married."
"Whether you plan to get married or not is your business. I clearly heard you say you wanted to marry me!" Sebastian didn't back down at all.
A wife who came to him willingly. How could he let her go?
Words failed Alyssa, just as she failed to argue with Sebastian. "Fine, let's settle this with one match, like we agreed at the hospital. If you win, I'll marry you. But if you lose, let's pretend this conversation never happened."
"Alright, isn't that why we're here today?" Sebastian showed no worry about the bet.
Alyssa was puzzled. Her sister-in-law had made it clear that he couldn't possibly win against her.
She wondered if he really had some skills or was just bluffing.
Someone asked, "Alyssa, are you really going to compete with him? One match to decide it all?"
Alyssa was worried Sebastian might pull some other tricks.
She told her employees, "You all be my witnesses. If I lose, I'll agree to marry him. But if he loses, he can't bring up marrying me again."
