Chapter 484: Seduction
After Reese and Justin left, Justin turned to Reese and asked, "Mrs. Flynn, what's our next move?"
"The show's about to start. First, organize the info I gave you and announce that Grandpa Flynn is critically ill. With Malcolm inside and Grandpa Flynn in this state, Vincent won't be able to resist going for the CEO spot. When he does, we'll hit him with a big surprise at the company. Sound good?"
Justin caught on quickly. "Mrs. Flynn, you're a genius."
"Go ahead. I'll work on getting Malcolm out by then."
"Got it."
As soon as Justin spread the news, Vincent got wind of it.
He asked his assistant, "Are you sure? Grandpa's in the ICU?"
"Yes, I heard it from the hospital. I've already sent someone to verify."
Vincent felt hopeful. "Perfect, it seems our plan worked. That old man didn't let us down. Tell him we'll give him more money for his wife's treatment."
The assistant asked, "What now?"
"Once we confirm, send this video to everyone on the list."
Vincent retrieved a disk from his suit pocket and handed it to the assistant.
The assistant looked puzzled. "Mr. Flynn, what's this?"
"Dirt on those shareholders. With this, they won't dare cross us. Got it?"
If this information were to leak, none of them would escape the consequences.
These days, everyone had skeletons in their closet. But if Malcolm found out, they were toast.
The assistant hadn't expected Vincent to possess such a trump card.
He hadn't realized there was still a way out.
Clutching the disk, the assistant said, "Alright, I'll do it now. But Mr. Flynn, once this is released, there's no going back.."
"You don't need to remind me. We're past the point of no return."
Since Reese had wrecked his plans at the last shareholders' meeting, he could only proceed; retreat wasn't an option.
Now, more than ever.
If he didn't succeed, he would leave.
The assistant, hearing this, had no choice but to follow orders.
This was the only path left. Vincent didn't want to discuss it with Malcolm, thinking it might be useful, but knowing Vincent's nature, the assistant doubted it and gave up on persuading him.
Soon, Vincent's information reached all the shareholders. After seeing it, they had no choice but to call Vincent.
After negotiating, Vincent promised them generous rewards, but only if they helped him become the CEO of the Flynn Group. Otherwise, they'd all go down together.
The shareholders had no choice but to agree.
But now, Vincent had to go to the hospital to see if Aiden was really in trouble. If so, it would be a farewell ceremony, a token of gratitude for raising him all these years.
Finally, after all these years, Aiden had always held onto the Flynn family, only protecting Malcolm and never considering him.
They said Vincent had bad intentions, but wasn't it just favoritism towards Malcolm?
At this moment, Reese had already reached the hospital. She found Aiden and told him her plan.
"Grandpa, Vincent's definitely gonna show up later. After all these years, he's been bottling up his feelings. Knowing you're critically ill and might not make it, he won't miss this chance. Today, you'll see his true colors."
Aiden had almost fully recovered, but the hospital kept his real condition under wraps.
He nodded. "I know. After all these years, I want to see his true thoughts too."
Reese pulled out a pill. "This is a special medicine I made. It'll cause temporary changes in your body, but it won't harm you. Don't worry. It's just to fool Vincent. He's super suspicious and will definitely check to see if you're really critically ill."
"And if Vincent were an outsider, I wouldn't need to do this. But he studied medicine too. If it doesn't look real, he won't buy it."
"I understand." Aiden fully cooperated with Reese.
Reese checked the time and said, "If there's nothing else, I'll head out. I'll come back after Vincent leaves. Just a final reminder, don't get angry. In your current state, you can't afford it."
"Don't worry. I know what kind of person he is. I won't risk my health for someone like him."
Reese felt reassured.
Not long after she left, Vincent arrived. He first found the doctor to ask about Aiden's condition. The doctor was already prepped by Reese, especially Victor, who now saw Reese as a savior and admired her greatly.
Victor relayed Reese's words to Vincent verbatim.
"Mr. Flynn's condition is quite complicated. We recommend conservative treatment. Transferring him to another hospital isn't suitable. If something happens during the transfer, we can't guarantee anything."
Vincent pretended to be worried. "Is there no other way? Like surgery or a heart transplant?"
"No, Mr. Flynn is too old for major surgery. All the top doctors here unanimously decided it's better not to do it."
Hearing Victor's words, Vincent understood the situation. Yes, Aiden had taken that medicine, and his body couldn't function like a normal person's. Major surgery would be a death sentence.
He said he understood and then asked Victor, "Can I see my grandpa now?"
"Yes, but the patient is in bad shape and can't be agitated. It could be life-threatening."
"I understand. Thank you."
Vincent, hearing this, already devised a plan. Could he not agitate Aiden? He came today to vent all the grievances he'd held for so many years while Aiden was still alive.
When he entered the ward, Aiden was the alone. Vincent even believed fate favored him.
Aiden was resting with his eyes closed, actually waiting for Vincent. After all, a critically ill person couldn't let Vincent see him looking energetic; that would blow the cover.
Vincent approached Aiden, seeing his pale face and bloodless lips. The monitors showed his weakening condition, all signs of someone nearing the end.
He felt smug inside. With Aiden no longer supporting Malcolm, he was confident. After all, who was Reese? She wasn't even a member of the Flynn family. He was the true master of the Flynn family.
Vincent stood beside the bed, leaned down, and whispered in Aiden's ear. "Grandpa."
