Chapter 592 What Are Your Intentions
During this time, Reese had been stuck in the hospital. Her injuries were almost healed, but Malcolm was being all overprotective, making her stay a few more days. She felt like she was losing her mind.
That afternoon, she hit up Alyssa. Alyssa was surprised to get a call from Reese since she hardly ever called. She immediately thought something serious was up. "Reese, what's going on? Everything okay over there?"
"Nah, I just need you to tell Malcolm to let me out of here. If I stay in this hospital any longer, I'm gonna go nuts."
Alyssa let out a sigh of relief. "I thought it was something serious. Reese, Malcolm's just looking out for you. You know how he is, you're his number one. If you're really bored, just tell Sebastian to stop bugging me in my studio."
As soon as Sebastian's name came up, Reese jumped in. "I can't deal with your problems. You know Sebastian's a handful."
They were about the same age and both had those no-nonsense personalities.
Alyssa started whining when she realized Reese wouldn't help. "Reese... you're not gonna help me out?"
Reese said heartily, "It's not that I don't want to, I just can't. If anyone can handle you, it's probably only Malcolm."
Alyssa and Sebastian were like wild horses, always running free. Getting a horse to stop was no easy task.
Alyssa didn't push it. "Alright, Reese, take care and rest up. I'll hang up now."
Reese said, "Wait, didn't you two have a competition last time? Let me guess, Sebastian won, right?"
Alyssa gritted her teeth in frustration. "Reese, Sebastian totally cheated. He never told me he was a gaming pro in college. You should've seen his skills. Does your family have a knack for this or what?"
She almost thought it was Reese she was playing against, with his top-notch skills and reaction time.
But she had to admit, she liked people who were good at games.
Still, Sebastian's roguish vibe made him seem unreliable, and considering the Hawthorne family's rep, Alyssa couldn't help but shake her head.
She was completely turned off.
Reese wasn't surprised. "Boys do have a natural talent for this stuff. Plus, you know Sebastian's into racing, which needs even faster reaction times and more complex moves than gaming."
She had raced against Sebastian before, and even though he lost to her, his skills were still top-tier in the racing world, better than many well-known racers.
Alyssa now regretted it. "If I had known Sebastian was that good, I would've practiced more."
"You can't think like that. Look at it this way. Sebastian's pretty good, so maybe he can give you some tips in the future. If your skills improve, won't your streamers' skills also get better?"
Alyssa thought for a moment. "That's true, but I can't rely on him for my happiness. Besides, you know I never planned to get married. If I were to choose someone, I'd want someone who spoils me like Malcolm does."
If she and Sebastian started dating, he'd be the kind of boyfriend who'd drive her nuts.
Reese, half-joking, said, "You haven't really gotten to know Sebastian. How do you know he won't spoil you?"
Alyssa was taken aback.
Just then, the door to Reese's hospital room swung open, and in walked Everly, her brows furrowed tightly.
Reese lowered her voice to Alyssa. "Everly brought Grandpa here."
"What? Is she out of her mind? Why would she bring Grandpa? We didn't tell him 'cause we didn't want him to worry."
"I don't know. I'll hang up now."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Everly came over, supporting Aiden.
Aiden's face was full of worry when he saw Reese. He had been staying in the hospital before Jason took him home, but Malcolm and Reese hadn't returned for several days.
Jason only said they were busy with work until Everly found him and told him about Reese's accident and how she was almost buried alive. He rushed over in a panic.
Aiden hurried to Reese's side. "Reese, are you alright? Why didn't you tell us about something so serious?"
"Grandpa, it's not a big deal. I didn't want you to worry." Reese's face was full of concern, a far cry from her usual cold and distant demeanor.
Aiden had aged significantly after his last hospital ordeal. Older folks couldn't handle much stress.
Although Reese had saved Aiden, it was clear his health wasn't what it used to be.
Aiden sighed, "If Everly hadn't told me, how long were you planning to keep this from me?"
"We weren't trying to hide it from you. We just didn't want you to worry, which wouldn't be good for your health." As Reese spoke, she got out of bed, placed a chair in front of Aiden, and poured him a cup of water. "Grandpa, I don't have any coffee here in the hospital. Please make do with some water."
Seeing Reese busying herself despite her injuries, Aiden quickly stood up. "Reese, you should rest. Don't worry about me. I just came to see you. Whether I drink coffee or not doesn't matter. If I want some, I'll ask Everly."
Hearing this, Everly stepped forward. "Yes, Reese, I'll take care of Grandpa. You still have injuries; you should rest."
Reese's gaze at Everly instantly turned icy, chilling to the bone. "If you were concerned about Grandpa, you shouldn't have told him about my hospitalization."
Everly lowered her head, her voice small, like a child who had done something wrong. "Reese, I think there's a deep misunderstanding between us, but I still want to make amends. I was wrong before, and I hope you can forgive me. I did tell Grandpa about your injury because I wanted to see you. I had no other intentions."
There were some things Reese couldn't say in front of Aiden. She knew exactly what Everly's intentions were.
Reese's attitude was cold. "You know very well whether you came to see me or not."
Everly pouted, looking all hurt. "I... Reese, don't say that about me. It's indeed my fault before."
"Reese, I'm here."
Before Everly could finish, the door opened again, and in walked Alyssa.
Alyssa's face fell instantly when she saw Everly standing next to Aiden. She had no intention of considering Everly's feelings. "Why are you here? Did you come to see if Reese is okay? If something happened to her, were you planning to go back and celebrate?"
