Chapter 382 Not Easy to Mess With

Sebastian felt completely outmatched by Reese. If he had ten sentences to say, Reese could come up with ways to counter all of them.

It seemed that Reese was not easy to deal with, and it was their own fault for underestimating her. They didn't expect her to be so bold.

The situation has escalated, and it looked like there would be a lot of problems to deal with.

After much deliberation, Sebastian could only be humble. "Take a look at him, please."

"Are you trying to wake him up to see me and then anger him again?" Reese retorted.

At this point, Stephen would likely want to tear her apart. How could he possibly want to see her again? More importantly, Reese did not want to see him.

Sebastian was completely speechless and hung up.

Reese put away her phone, and Alyssa admired her by giving Reese a thumbs up.

"Reese, you are truly my goddess. Your words just now probably drove your brother crazy, right?"

"If they had behaved themselves from the beginning and not planned to take advantage of me, I wouldn't have said those things," Reese replied.

Reese detested being used by others, especially Stephen, who had hurt her before and now wanted to do it again. She wouldn't give him the chance.

Malcolm explained to Alyssa. "What Reese means is that originally, she knew about this matter, but they insisted on provoking her, claiming they wanted her to come back. In reality, they just wanted to use her."

Alyssa nodded in agreement. "It's indeed a bit undue. Deceiving emotions is okay, but letting money dictate how we act is awful."

Reese almost burst out laughing at Alyssa's comment.

The tense atmosphere had eased now.

However, the Hawthorne family was clearly in chaos. Sebastian couldn't resolve the current issue, as he had never been involved in such matters. He had no choice but to call Alexander and Nathaniel.

When Alexander arrived at the hospital, his face was as cold as ice, and the entire hospital seemed to be shrouded in frost.

Alexander pushed open the door and immediately questioned Sebastian, who was sitting by the bed.

"What's going on? Who is this Reese?"

Alexander was the most straightforward, always appearing fierce. Sebastian had rarely seen Alexander smile over the years. He was a complete workaholic.

"Alexander, calm down first, and let me explain in detail."

Sebastian recounted the situation to him, and Alexander frowned.

"Are you saying this woman is Dad's illegitimate daughter?"

"Yes. Let me tell you, Reese is remarkable. She's a race car driver, and her skills are impressive. I'm simply no match for her."

Alexander shot Sebastian a disdainful look, not sparing him any dignity.

"Isn't being inferior quite normal for you?"

Sebastian felt somewhat embarrassed by his brother's mocking retort.

"Alexander, I am your brother. Could you please preserve some dignity for me?"

"Do I have time to discuss this now? What did the doctor say? Is our father's life in danger?"

"Not for now. But you know well the state Dad's health was in before. Having untreated medical issues for so long combined with his constant preoccupation with work, it would be amazing if he were unscathed," Sebastian replied honestly.

Alexander slapped Sebastian's head, disappointed in his brother's shortfalls.

"Isn't this all because of your incompetence?"

Sebastian was left speechless. To be honest, he lacked interest in family affairs and the monotony of work, but having Alexander and Nathaniel around seemed sufficient for him.

At this moment, the doctor reentered the room, and Alexander approached.

"Doctor, I am his son. Could you please tell me about my father's condition and when he might awaken?"

The doctor glanced through Stephen's medical records. "At the moment, his condition isn't very good, but he's stable. It might take a while. You should monitor his condition carefully during this time and ensure he doesn't experience further stress."

"Thank you, Doctor."

After the doctor's departure, Alexander finally exhaled in relief. The most important thing was that their father was stable.

He turned to Sebastian. "So what happened with Reese?"

With a mischievous grin, Sebastian replied. "Weren't you disinterested in this topic before?"

"I wasn't interested, but if this woman could potentially impact the Hawthorne family, then I must know."

Alexander was utmostly concerned with the future and development of the Hawthorne family and would never allow an outsider to undermine it.

When Sebastian started to talk about Reese, his face lit up with enthusiasm.

" Reese is very powerful. Not only did she come from the Flynn family, but just the other day, she hacked into our family's system, causing the stock to plummet rapidly. It was only after Stephen spent a fortune to fix it that the stock returned to its current balance."

Upon hearing Sebastian's words, Alexander's eyes were as sharp as knives, almost wanting to tear him apart.

"From what you said, you seem quite pleased. Are you implying that it's not your family being manipulated? Being outsmarted by a woman, and you seem proud of it."

Sebastian awkwardly scratched his head. "Alexander, that's not what I meant. Think about it, if she could return to the Hawthorne family, wouldn't that be greatly beneficial for us? Having such a talented person in our family would be a cause for celebration."

Alexander was on the verge of losing his temper, but he restrained himself when he saw Sebastian's expression.

"Are you a fool? If she's willing to come back that's great good, if not, she could become the biggest threat to our family. Just like this time, Stephen decided without consulting her, and now our Hawthorne family is  a laughingstock in the industry."

Sebastian felt uncomfortable. Deep down, he was reluctant to let go of and outstanding sister like Reese.

But Alexander was right about if Reese decided not to return and couldn't contribute to the Hawthorne family. At worst, if it brought harm to the company, it wouldn't be good.

Sebastian truly wanted Reese to return to the Hawthorne family, and he genuinely liked his sister.

"Alexander, can't you think of a way to bring her back to the Hawthorne family?"

"No, and even if she returns, what's the use? Considering her behavior today, do you think she could easily forgive Dad and the others for what they did? Think about our mom, she would definitely clash with Mom with her temperament."

Alexander could already imagine that scene, even though he hadn't had substantial contact with Reese. From the videos, he could sense that she was not an ordinary person.

As Sebastian thought of Clara, he also worried. If another woman's child suddenly entered the Hawthorne family, Clara would definitely want to strangle Reese.

However, Sebastian subconsciously glanced at Stephen, who was still unconscious.

"I'm afraid you don't want Reese to come back, and Dad won't agree either."
