Chapter 531 Where Did Reese Go?

The doctor, sweating, took off his mask and sighed in relief. "We got lucky. We saved her, and she seems stable for now."

Sofia finally relaxed, feeling a wave of gratitude. "Thank goodness. I thought Grandma wouldn't make it."

"Ms. Sawyer, I shouldn't say this, but for your grandma's sake, please keep her away from stress. At her age, without that money you put up, she might not have made it. Now that she's okay, be extra careful," the doctor advised.

Sofia, feeling guilty, kept apologizing. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was this serious. I'll be more careful."

"Be careful next time. We might not be this lucky again."

Elderly people can't handle too much stress.

Sofia stayed with her grandma until the afternoon. When she left the ward and checked her phone, she saw Nolan had sent her Malcolm's number. Just thinking about those people made her furious. They even targeted the elderly.

'Do they have any humanity?' Sofia cursed silently.

By informing Malcolm, Reese could stay safe. She didn't want Reese to get hurt.

Sofia dialed Malcolm's number, feeling nervous. She had met Malcolm before and knew he was intimidating. Only around Reese did he soften.

Sometimes Sofia envied Reese for having such a strong husband.

But what about her? She had nothing and had to rely on herself. Why? What did she do wrong to deserve this?

The more Sofia thought about it, the more unfair it seemed. Back in college, they were in similar situations. Although Reese was from the Brooks family, they hardly cared for her; it was her grandma who took care of her.

They had been apart for a long time, and when she saw Reese again, she was completely different, glowing with confidence.

She didn't know what had happened to Reese over the years, but she had changed.

Lost in thought, the call connected, and a deep, cold voice made her shiver. "Who is this?"

Sofia's voice trembled. "Mr. Flynn, it's Sofia."

"What's the matter?" His voice was cold and distant.

"Reese didn't meet me for lunch today. She said she left town in a hurry. When I asked why, she didn't tell me. I'm worried about her, so..." Sofia said.

"How did you get my number?" Malcolm asked directly.

Sofia hadn't thought about this before calling and now didn't know how to answer.

After a few seconds, Sofia replied, her voice shaking, "I'm sorry, I saw it by chance when you called Reese last time." She couldn't think of any other excuse.

Malcolm sneered, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "So, Ms. Sawyer has a photographic memory, huh? Remembering a number after seeing it once."

"I... Mr. Flynn, I called because Reese might be in danger. She went far away, and if something happens, I think you'd be more worried than I am." Sofia's voice trembled as she quickly ended the call, afraid of saying too much.

She gripped her phone tightly, her heart racing as if an invisible hand was squeezing it.

Even over the phone, Malcolm's presence was intimidating. Meeting him in person would probably leave her speechless. How could someone so cold be so tender with his loved ones?

Now she worried: Would Malcolm contact Reese and make her doubt Sofia? Would this ruin their fragile trust?

Sofia sighed, leaning back in her chair. What should she do now?

Malcolm, after Sofia hung up, looked serious and immediately stood up. "Get the private jet ready," he told Justin.

"Mr. Flynn, where are we going?" Justin asked.

"Sofia said Reese went out of town. I need to call and check."

Malcolm dialed Reese's number, but it just rang without an answer, making him uneasy. By now, she should have reached her destination, and the ringing phone meant there was a signal.

Justin, seeing Malcolm's worried expression, tried to comfort him. "Mr. Flynn, maybe Mrs. Flynn just went out for some business and will be back soon."

"No, you don't understand. Reese never breaks a promise. If she did, something serious must have happened. Find out what flight she was on and when it took off," Malcolm said.

"Yes," Justin replied, quickly investigating. But the results were puzzling.

"Mr. Flynn, I couldn't find any flight records. Could they have driven?"

"Probably not. Driving takes more time, and there should be flights available nationwide, even at night."

Justin was even more puzzled. "Then how did they go?"

Malcolm didn't know either. He turned to Justin. "Ask Reese's usual contacts if they know anything."

"Okay, I'll make some calls," Justin said.

Usually, a phone call would suffice for this kind of thing.

Justin tried calling Louis, but it didn't go through, just like Reese's.

He then called Ryan, who fortunately answered.

Justin said politely, "Hello, this is Justin, Mr. Flynn's assistant. Mr. Flynn would like to speak with you."

Ryan didn't expect Malcolm to reach out so quickly. "Okay," he said.

Justin handed the phone to Malcolm, who took it, his voice cold. "I want to know where Reese and Louis went."
