Chapter 375 Setting a Trap

Reese listened to Stephen's tone, he seemed a bit impatient, but Reese was even less patient than Stephen.

"You're overthinking it, I have no ulterior motives, I just want to warn you, don't play tricks on me for no reason, and don't let Sebastian provoke me."

Reese's words were extremely arrogant, but they made people feel that she did have such power.

It was the first time Stephen had been treated like this by a girl, and for a moment, he couldn't think of any way to respond.

Reese didn't give Stephen a chance to argue with her. She quickly hung up the phone. Stephen looked at the disconnected phone, and anger surged up, almost smashing the phone.

This girl, daring to be so arrogant in front of him.

When Malcolm came in, he saw that Reese's emotions seemed to have improved a lot compared to before. He knew that Stephen must not have gained anything from Reese.

Malcolm walked up, holding a fruit plate in his hand, specially cut by the servant for her, thinking that she hadn't eaten anything today, but looking at her just now, she probably couldn't eat anything now.

But there should be no problem with the fruits Reese likes.

He sat in front of Reese, picked up a fruit, and was about to feed it to her.

Reese ate it, her eyes curved. "It's very sweet."

"Let me try." With that, Malcolm leaned in and kissed her lips.

Reese was stunned, how could this person be like this?

After a moment, Malcolm withdrew, looking satisfied, and nodded appreciatively.

"Very sweet."

Reese raised her hand and playfully hit him. "There's plenty more here for you to eat."

"Haven't you heard? What's in your mouth is even sweeter."

Malcolm didn't mind at all.
Reese chuckled softly. "Stephen called me just now. Their company's stock is paralyzed, asking me to fix it for him."

Malcolm knew Reese's temperament.

"He's just talking nonsense."

"I refused, and Stephen actually had the nerve to say he gave me life. This kind of person is really fake."

Before, Stephen didn't care about her life or death, but now that he saw Reese harming his interests, he immediately started to take the moral high ground. Stephen was such a hypocrite, not any better than Kenneth.

In fact, Reese now found Stephen even more despicable than Kenneth. What Kenneth did, she could still understand, after all, Kenneth was not her biological father, but this Stephen, even her biological father could make it to this.

It shows how hard-hearted Stephen is.

Malcolm fed Reese another fruit. "It's okay, we don't care about him, he doesn't have much to do with us, Stephen will find a way, he's been in this business for so many years, he can't be without a solution."

"I know." Reese was clear that Stephen must be able to come up with a solution. That's why she dared to refuse directly.

Stephen's purpose in finding her was simply to get something for nothing. He wanted Reese to help him solve the problem directly. How could that be possible? Since she had already taken action, she couldn't easily back down. Did he think it was easy to intrude into the Hawthorne family's backstage?

"If that kid Sebastian comes looking for you again, I'll handle it."

Malcolm didn't want to burden Reese too much, he just wanted her to live carefree, but fate was not willing to let her off.

"No, that kid doesn't have the guts anymore."

Sebastian now knows she's not easy to mess with, and he probably won't come again anytime soon.

Malcolm touched his chin, and there were some things he felt he should remind Reese as her honey.

"Reese, but you need to be prepared, the Hawthorne family won't let go so easily, they know your value now, no one will give up you, especially Stephen, he's a utilitarian."

"Don't worry, and if I've decided to do it, then I must be prepared."

As long as Malcolm made sure Reese was prepared, he wouldn't worry so much.

But this time, Stephen really dug his own grave. He thought Reese was easy to deal with. If Stephen really wanted Reese to come back sincerely, with Reese's personality, she might have been moved, but from the beginning, Stephen's intentions were not pure.

What Reese hated most was being used, especially when it was so obvious.

It was almost written on his face.

"Are we just going to ignore the Hawthorne family for now? What about Nolan, you have to know, Nolan, he won't just let you stay there, you're his best subordinate, Nolan won't let you do nothing inside."

If something happens with Nolan's character, the first person he'll think of is Reese.

Reese shook her head. "I have no way, my grandmother's cause of death. I've been investigating for many years, but there are still no results. I learned from Jason that my grandmother and he had both been in the organization before. Since Nolan knows some information, maybe he can help me find out."

Malcolm saw the heaviness in her face, and he knew this matter had been weighing on Reese for a long time.

"Reese, I'll have someone else look into it for you. If we can find out on our own, you don't have to agree with Nolan."

"Try your best. If you really can't find out, it's okay."

In terms of information, Reese still trusted Nolan. The amount of information Nolan could access, outsiders might not be able to find out.

Meanwhile, Stephen was about to explode with anger.

Jackson looked at Stephen's increasingly ugly face, and Benjamin knew how angry Mr. Hawthorne was with Reese.

Benjamin looked at the Hawthorne Group's stock, which had not been rising, and he couldn't help but worry.

"Mr. Hawthorne, what do we do now? She seems unwilling to help us."

Stephen glared at Benjamin. "What else can we do, hurry up and find someone to help."

Benjamin was also in a dilemma. "But Mr. Hawthorne, where can we find someone now, Reese's level is too high, it's not easy."

"Then you go find someone for me! Stop talking too much!"

Stephen was almost going crazy, he never expected that after so many years, he would be blackmailed by Reese.

Benjamin lowered his head. "I'll go now."

"Wait, check again. What background does this girl have? How capable is she? I want to see."

Stephen hadn't expected Reese to have such great power. She could even manipulate the company's stock and intrude into its backstage.

But precisely because of this, Stephen wanted Reese back in the Hawthorne family even more. Such talents should not be left outside.

Benjamin agreed. "I'll go now."

"And I'm about to have a birthday soon. Send an invitation to the Flynn family, make sure they come, and send it to the Brooks family."

Stephen wanted to take this opportunity to bring Reese back, and with so many people present, Reese wouldn't refuse him face-to-face.

Benjamin wanted to say at the time that Reese might not give you that face, but seeing Mr. Hawthorne's determined look, he didn't dare speak up again.

In the end, Benjamin could only give up.

"Okay, I'll do it now."

Soon, the invitation was sent to the Flynn family, during a family dinner, Grandpa Flynn said to Malcolm.

"Malcolm, do you have time tomorrow night?"

Malcolm shook his head. "These days, the company's affairs are relatively stable, but there is nothing much going on."
"Then you go for me, I'm getting old now, I don't want to attend these lively parties."

With that, Grandpa Flynn pushed the invitation to Malcolm, and when Malcolm opened it, he saw that it was an invitation to Stephen's birthday party.

Malcolm instinctively looked at Reese, and it was obviously aimed at Reese.

Reese also saw it, Malcolm hesitated to respond, because he knew that this matter required Reese's decision.

Everly noticed that Malcolm's gaze had been on Reese the whole time.

"Malcolm, you're not going to ask for her permission to attend a party, are you?" Everly sneered.
