Chapter 432 Acid-Tongued
The next day, Reese was preparing to go to the secret base to work on a project, but just as she stepped out, her car broke down. Malcolm had already gone to the office. Alyssa had recently started a gaming company and was so busy that she was never around.
The Flynn family's house was quite secluded because Aiden liked peace and quietness and didn't enjoy living in the bustling city center.
Getting a cab here was extremely difficult. Reese had tried but eventually had to give up.
She could only call Calvin. "Where are you now?"
"I'm over at Dreamscape Emporium," Calvin replied.
"Can you come pick me up? My car broke down."
Calvin responded promptly, "I'll be right there."
After hanging up, Reese stood at the door waiting. During her wait, she happened to run into Everly, who was driving by and noticed Reese seemed to be waiting for someone.
Everly mockingly said, "Your car broke down?"
Reese didn't respond. She generally didn't like to engage with Everly, but Everly loved to provoke Reese and never learned her lesson.
Everly didn't plan to leave because she enjoyed seeing Reese in such an embarrassing situation. She continued, "You're so rich. Shouldn't you have many cars? You can drive whichever you want, right?"
Reese still didn't respond. The best way to deal with someone like Everly was to ignore her. She would get bored and leave on her own.
Seeing that Reese wasn't paying her any attention, Everly became even more annoyed but felt it wouldn't be right to say anything more.
She could only snort disdainfully. "Your car broke down, and you still act so proud. If I were you, I'd beg for help. Maybe I'd take pity and give you a ride."
Reese had been holding back for a long time, but this last comment from Everly made her uncomfortable.
She glanced at Everly and was unable to hold back any longer. "No need."
Everly assumed Reese was trying to show off in front of her and gave her a cold look. "Reese, if I were you, I'd learn to be more humble. Maybe then people wouldn't dislike you so much."
Reese sneered. "Sorry, I don't live my life for you. Whether you like me or not doesn't affect me much."
"You... you deserve to be standing here," Everly shouted.
Everly was almost driven mad by Reese. 'How could someone be so stubborn and indifferent? Why does Malcolm like Reese?' Everly thought.
At that moment, Calvin arrived at the Flynn family’s door in his sports car. Everly's eyes almost popped out when she saw the car.
Everly had her eyes on that car model before but couldn't get it. It required not just connections and money, but also status.
Everly wasn't interested in Calvin but in his car. When Calvin got out and saw Everly staring at him, his confidence surged, and he arrogantly flicked his hair.
"Don't look at me. I'm not interested in older women," Calvin said.
Everly found this amusing. She had some admiration for Calvin earlier, thinking anyone who could get that car must have some status, but his arrogant words made her lose interest.
Although she wasn't a biological child of the Flynn family, she lived a life of luxury and was always treated with respect. How could this man look at her with such disdain? She wanted to see what background he had to act so arrogantly in front of her.
Everly was also quite skilled at insults. She looked at Calvin with disdain. "You think you're something special? You're just driving a car to pick her up. Clearly, you're no good."
Calvin knew about Everly. Although Reese hadn't mentioned her, he knew that Everly and Reese were the most at odds in the Flynn family, often clashing.
Today, he was going to get revenge for Reese.
"Do you think you're a good person? Reese is the legitimate Mrs. Flynn of the Flynn family, and Mr. Flynn loves her dearly. You, on the other hand, mean nothing to Mr. Flynn," Calvin retorted.
Reese twitched her eye. These two were really going at it, both equally sharp-tongued.
Calvin was naturally loud, but his straightforwardness was also his strength. He always spoke his mind and never hid anything. Reese liked dealing with straightforward people and hated those who betrayed her behind her back.
Everly had met her match. Calvin wasn't someone easily bullied. If you messed with someone he cared about, he would cause you great harm.
Everly didn't expect a man to be so articulate. She was already furious from arguing with Reese, and now there was another strong opponent.
But she didn't plan to back down. On the Flynn family’s turf, she wouldn't let anyone gain the upper hand.
Unable to out-argue Calvin, she turned her attention to Reese.
Everly crossed her arms and gave Reese a strange look, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Reese, meeting another man at the Flynn family’s door, aren't you disrespecting the Flynn family? If Malcolm finds out, do you know what will happen to you? The Flynn family won't tolerate a woman like you."
Reese laughed mockingly, not taking Everly's threat seriously. "Ms. Flynn, you're overthinking. This is my friend, and he met my husband yesterday. They got along very well. Do you have any objections?"
Everly was shocked. "What did you say? You must have fooled Malcolm. A woman like you must have many male friends. Reese, you..."
Before she could finish her sharp words, Reese turned cold. "Everly, you'd better watch what you say. If you keep spouting nonsense, I'll cut out your tongue so you can't speak again!"
To outsiders, this might sound like a simple threat, but when Reese spoke, it often became reality. There was no doubt about it.
Everly turned pale with fear. She knew Reese could be crazy when she got angry.
She could only shrink back and didn't dare to speak again.
Calvin was also tired of arguing with such a woman and said to Reese, "Reese, let's go."
