Chapter 435 How to Escape

Just as the car was about to be forced to a stop, Reese quickly spoke up, "Turn left in 500 meters, then keep going straight."

While rapidly turning the steering wheel, Calvin asked Reese, "Reese, how far do we go straight?"

"Just keep going," Reese added.

Calvin felt a bit confused.

Clearly, there was no specific destination, and Calvin understood Reese well enough to know that if she had a clear direction, she wouldn't be asking to keep going straight.

Obviously, Reese couldn't find the way. The terrain here was already complex. The further they went, the easier it was to get lost.

Calvin looked at the people closing in on them, holding guns. One wrong move and they could be dead. He never thought he'd one day put himself in danger for someone insignificant.

He hadn't even gotten married yet.

Thinking of Everhart made Calvin angry. Even in such a tense situation, Calvin couldn't help but complain. "Everhart, it's all your fault. If you hadn't sent that distress note to Reese, she wouldn't be risking her life to save you. How could you betray Reese for such a small benefit, putting her life at risk? I wish I could just throw you out of the car and let Nolan's subordinates deal with you."

If it were for someone valuable, loyal, and humane, it might be worth the risk. But for someone like Everhart, who had no conscience, it felt like a waste.

Everhart was also terrified, especially since Nolan had sent so many people to catch him. It was clear Nolan didn't want him alive.

If he had known this would be his fate, he would have stayed with Reese and wouldn't be in this mess now.

He lowered his head and sincerely said, "Sorry for dragging you into this."

Reese was still looking for an exit on her laptop and had no time to listen to Calvin's complaints.

She frowned and deeply agitated. "Can you stop talking?"

Calvin quickly shut his mouth.

Suddenly, gunshots rang out from behind. Reese and Everhart instinctively ducked, and Calvin's hands shook on the steering wheel.

"Nolan is serious!" Calvin added.

"No kidding. When has he ever just played around?" Reese said, pulling a gun from under the car seat and handing it to Everhart. "Stall them for now. I might need more time."

This place was like a maze, and the signal was unstable. Otherwise, she would have found the exit by now.

Everhart, having been one of Nolan's people and professionally trained, wasn't too worried about handling these people.

He nodded. "Alright, focus on what you're doing. I'll handle them."

Calvin snorted from the front. "No kidding. If you don't handle them, who will, us?"

Reese almost kicked Calvin. "Can you just focus on driving!"

Calvin could only keep his head down and charge forward. But because visibility wasn't good and it occasionally got foggy, he almost crashed into a tree. Fortunately, he reacted in time but ended up on a dead-end path.

Calvin panicked. "Reese, what do we do? We're surrounded."

Reese was speechless. Well, it wasn't easy to shake these people off anyway. Sooner or later, they would catch up. She was just trying to gamble, and she lost. She had to admit defeat.

They had no choice but to stop and get out of the car.

Calvin looked at the crowd and turned to Everhart. "Why don't you just go over there voluntarily?"

No matter what, he couldn't let Reese be in danger.

At this moment, Hugo came down, looking fierce, and pointed a gun at Everhart.

"Everhart, you sure have guts, trying to run!" Hugo said.

Everhart sneered. "What difference does it make if I run or not? Nolan never intended to let me live, did he?"

Death was inevitable for him. Nothing else mattered.

"If you knew that, why bother running?" Hugo who had chased for long asked.

Everhart was filled with resentment and had nothing to lose now. He could only vent, knowing he was doomed.

"If it were you, would you just wait to die?" Everhart asked.

Hugo and Everhart had known each other for a while, and he felt some sympathy for him. But some things couldn't be changed.

"You should know that if Nolan wants you dead, then you must die." Hugo added.

"But I did nothing wrong. You all know I was framed, and Malcolm has cleared my name. It's not that Malcolm doesn't want to keep me. It's that Nolan wants to kill me. I've done so much for Nolan over the years, and this is how he treats me now." Everhart continued.

Understandably, Everhart couldn't accept it. Who would want to keep giving and end up with such a result?

Hugo sighed. "You can only say these things in hell."

He then prepared to pull the trigger to finish off Everhart, but Reese suddenly spoke up. "Wait!"

Seeing Reese, Hugo sneered.

"Reese, after all those fights with Nolan, if Giedon hadn't saved you, do you think you and your husband would have gone back safely? Now you're in trouble yourself and still want to help Everhart. It's a pity Nolan valued you so much," Hugo said.

Reese didn't want to waste time with Hugo. She never cared about anyone's appreciation. She just wanted her own life, unrelated to anyone else.

She never had a good impression of Hugo, so her words were naturally sharp.

"So what, Hugo? If you want to shoot, go ahead. But today, you're not just dealing with Everhart," Reese added.

Hugo had been targeted by Reese several times before. This time, he wanted revenge.

He gripped his gun tightly and replied disdainfully, "Can't you see how many people I brought today? Do you think I'd be afraid of you? No matter how skilled you are, you can't fight against a gun."

Hugo was confident he could take care of all three of them today. Reese had already chosen to betray Nolan, which meant she would be an enemy in the future. Keeping such a capable enemy would only cause trouble.

Reese knew that if they fought, the three of them might not stand a chance. There was only one gun in the car, now in Everhart's hands, while the other side had a dozen or more people, all armed. No matter how skilled she was, she couldn't dodge all those bullets.

What now? How could they escape?
