Chapter 393: Encountering Again

Reese's temper soured upon seeing Sebastian, but with Alyssa surrounded by so many fans, she didn't want to spoil the gathering for others. So, she stood up and addressed Sebastian, "If there's something you want to discuss, let's step outside."

Sebastian was somewhat surprised. With Reese's volatile temper, instead of just kicking Sebastian out directly, Reese actually let him speak. Maybe, for Sebastian, this was an opportunity.

Despite Clara's reluctance to let Reese leave, Sebastian felt that, ultimately, they were family and none of them lacked money, so why engage in needless conflict?

Sebastian nodded eagerly, "Sure, let's go."

Reese glanced at Alyssa and said, "You carry on with what you're doing, I'll step out for a bit."

"Do you want me to come with you?" Alyssa asked, her gaze still fixed warily on Sebastian. Since Alyssa had brought Reese out, she felt responsible for her safety, knowing Malcolm wouldn't let her off easily if anything happened.

Reese scoffed disdainfully at Alyssa's offer; her mocking tone evident. "Do you really think he could do anything to me?"

"What do you think he's capable of doing to me?"

Shouldn't her focus be on what Reese might do to Sebastian?

"Upon hearing this, Sebastian scratched his head awkwardly and protested, ""Can't you show me a little dignity?"

Reese, disregarding Sebastian's dignity entirely, replied with brutal honesty, "When I offered you dignity before, you didn't want it. Now, suddenly, you demand it?"

This is really stripping away all dignity. Frederick couldn't help but chuckle at Sebastian's humiliated expression.

Frederick seemed to feel like he didn't have a single ache left in his body.

"Sebastian Hawthorne, I have to say, your sister, she's quite something. How did she become so formidable? I've never seen anyone manage to restrain you like that."

With laughter already threatening to bring him to the floor, Frederick received a sharp glare from Sebastian.

"If you laugh again, I'll punch you."

"Alright, alright, I won't laugh, but it's really hilarious. Do you want to borrow a mirror from one of the girls here to see how you look right now? Who would've thought Sebastian Hawthorne would end up like this?"

Alyssa immediately chimed in, "I have a mirror here, want to take a look?"

With that, Alyssa actually pulled out a mirror from her bag and offered it.

Sebastian shot Alyssa a fierce glare and gritted his teeth, "You're asking for trouble!"

Reese, already impatient, raised a cold eyebrow. "Are we going to talk or not? If not, I'm leaving."

"We'll talk, of course we'll talk, Sebastian replied, reluctantly following Reese out."

Frederick attempted to follow but was halted by Alyssa.

"They're having a discussion, why would you tag along?" she questioned.

"I was just…"

"Sit down and wait here", Alyssa insisted.

She couldn't let anyone disturb Reese.

As Frederick settled, he took a good look at Alyssa. "You know, your temper is quite similar to Sebastian Hawthorne's."

Alyssa immediately shook her head in denial.

"Don't compare me to him. I'm nothing like him."

Who'd want to be compared to those trust fund kids who only indulged in drinking and partying every day? He didn't deserve that. After all, she had fans.

The more Frederick looked at Alyssa, the more he felt their energies really complemented each other. They were both easygoing individuals, unburdened by trivialities, making their interactions relaxed and comfortable.

Reese went out with Sebastian and the two stood under a lamp. Reese lazily leaning against the wall.

"Speak, what is it?"

Sebastian chuckled. "I always knew you were the smartest, sis. Look, Dad's still in the hospital, and your husband suddenly wants to launch some new project. Isn't he just trying to oppose us, the Hawthorne family?"

Reese glanced at Sebastian with indifference. "Let me correct you, Sebastian. It's not him going against the Hawthorne family, it's me going against the Hawthorne family with him."

Her intention to provoke was all too obvious.

"Sis, can't we just stop this? Even if you don't return to the Hawthorne family, you shouldn't be against us. How about this? We each take a step back. We won't pressure you to come back to the Hawthorne family, and you live your life as you wish. But you need to talk to your husband and convince him to revoke the decision to develop the new project. If he goes ahead with it, isn't he directly competing with us?"

Reese sneered, her eyes exuding arrogance and disdain.

"You, the Hawthorne family, have been in this business for quite some time. My husband has just started, and he hasn't even grasped the internal situation yet. Why are you so worried? Maybe we'll have to give you money in the end."

If Malcolm can't make it in this business, isn't it equivalent to giving money to the Hawthorne family?

But Sebastian had no such hope: "Sis, everyone knows your husband is a business genius, but he has limited energy. He doesn't want to expand into more areas, otherwise these people would have run out of money long ago."

At this juncture, Sebastian paused, his gaze on Reese turning somewhat peculiar.

"And let's be clear, with you involved now, aren't you and your husband cornering us?"

Reese's expression softened momentarily, finding Sebastian somewhat amusing.

Yet, Reese remained resolute; she didn't want any involvement with the Hawthorne family, despite her improved impression of Sebastian.

However, there were points Reese felt she needed to clarify with Sebastian.

"My husband decided to expand into other areas because your mother not only contacted me without permission but also had someone act against me. This isn't the first time your Hawthorne family has done this, and I haven't even demanded compensation yet. You guys are the ones who keep causing trouble for me."

With Reese's temperament, merely refraining from a direct approach already signaled respect towards the Hawthorne family. Yet, their audacity to actively seek Reese out? Are they courting disaster?

Sebastian's realization was sudden; he understood Reese wouldn't resort to such drastic measures even if he harbored disdain for the Hawthorne family.

Initially, Sebastian was an advocate for Clara at the hospital. However, it now appears he might have inadvertently caused himself trouble.

Sebastian now yearns to revisit the issue with Clara. Her unilateral approach to Reese has escalated matters, leaving a trail of impending problems.

Taking a deep breath, Sebastian addressed Reese, "Sis, let me apologize on behalf of my mom. Could you please dissuade your husband from pursuing a career in film and television? Aren't we just inviting unnecessary conflict between our families?"

However, Reese's perspective differed. She wasn't characterized by saintly virtues or kindness. Her principle was straightforward: an eye for an eye. She harbored no forgiveness for those who had wronged her in the past.

Feeling hesitant to share these thoughts with Sebastian, whom she perceived as too young to comprehend, Reese remained guarded.

Sensing the lateness of the hour, Reese was aware that Alyssa awaited her inside.

Go back and relay the message to your family. It's in everyone's best interest not to provoke me further, especially your mom. If she returns, I can't guarantee her safety.

Sebastian's voice trailed off, attempting to interject, "Sis..."

Reese, without a glance backward, proceeded inside. Alyssa was nearly finished with her task, rising to her feet as Reese entered.

"Let's go back." Alyssa asked

Alright, how about a quick photo with you guys?

Reese made a token offer, wondering if these fans were genuinely interested in meeting Alyssa.

The few individuals shook their heads hastily. "No need, we're quite close by, just around the corner. You two head back, it's getting late."

Noting that the fans didn't require a send-off, Reese departed with Alyssa. However, a new issue arose. Both Reese and Alyssa had consumed alcohol and couldn't drive.
