Chapter 476: You Actually Look Down on Me

Vincent slammed the phone down, veins bulging on his forehead. Virgil saw the look on his face and knew something was up.

"Mr. Flynn, you can't blame me for this. There are some people we simply can't cross."

Vincent, now fuming, shot a glare at Virgil.

"Then why wasn't Mr. Newman scared of crossing the Flynn family before? You think we can't put any pressure on you?"

Virgil caught the sarcasm in Vincent's voice. Both knew their deal was dead.

Virgil wasn't about to play nice anymore. He'd always had a beef with the Flynn family, and their businesses were openly hostile. If Vincent hadn't dangled such big profits, Virgil wouldn't have given him the time of day.

No way he'd be standing here talking to him.

Virgil wasn't backing down. "Since our deal's off, Mr. Flynn, there's no reason for you to stick around. Show him out!"

Vincent felt like he was about to blow a gasket. If he could, he would have punched Virgil right in the face.

He sneered, "So this is how Mr. Newman treats his guests. Don't think just because you listen to Reese, she'll do you any favors. Not a chance."

Virgil shot back, "At least I won't be her enemy. Mr. Flynn, you'd better watch out. If she targets you, you're done for."

He'd seen Reese in action. Anyone she targeted was toast. Even if you couldn't team up with a powerhouse, you definitely shouldn't make them your enemy—that was just asking for trouble.

Vincent scoffed, "I don't buy it!"

He grabbed his coat from the sofa and stormed out, slamming the door so hard that it made Virgil's heart skip a beat.

Virgil turned to his assistant, "What's he got to be so cocky about? The Flynn Group's falling apart without Malcolm. With Vincent in charge, they're doomed."

The assistant tried to calm him down, "Yeah, the Flynn Group's on the brink. As long as Malcolm can't clear his name, they're in deep trouble."

Virgil sneered, "They deserve it!"

"Exactly, so don't let it get to you, Mr. Newman."

Reese hung up the phone, and Calvin, standing next to her, asked, "What's going on? Did he lose his temper?"

Reese looked unimpressed, "Why should I be scared of him? Vincent has no skills and resorts to dirty tricks, thinking he can run the Flynn Group. He's delusional. As long as I'm around, he can forget it!"

Just then, Jason came back from the hospital and ran into Reese. He used to have issues with her, but now he didn't. In fact, he thought she was pretty great, especially this time. If it weren't for her, Aiden might've been in serious trouble.

He greeted her respectfully, "Mrs. Flynn."

Reese was the type who wouldn't bother you if you didn't mess with her. But if you did, she wouldn't back down.

She asked Jason, "How's Grandpa doing these past couple of days?"

Jason's face relaxed, "Thanks to you, Mrs. Flynn, he's much better now, but I find it strange."

Reese asked, "What's strange?"

"Mr. Aidens health wasn't great before, but it wasn't this bad."

Jason had been with Aiden for years and knew a lot of details. Given his past role, he was particularly sensitive to certain issues.

Reese understood what Jason was hinting at: Aiden's sudden collapse was highly suspicious.

"Mr. Tartt, if you have any doubts, just say it."

"Yes, Mrs. Flynn. Recently, Mr. Aiden been having chest tightness. The old meds weren't working, so we heard from Loren Schneider next door about a doctor who supposedly knew how to handle Mr. Aiden's condition. I brought that doctor in, and at first, the meds seemed to work. But then Mr. Aiden started having palpitations and shortness of breath at night, sometimes even stopping breathing. We stopped the meds and were about to ask the doctor what was up when the company had an incident."

Reese frowned deeply. This sounded suspicious, like the doctor was a total quack, maybe even unlicensed.

For them to use such a doctor, Loren must be someone Aiden trusted. Otherwise, he would've checked him out first.

"Let me see the medication."

"Sure, Mrs. Flynn, hang on a sec." Jason quickly went inside to grab the prescription. When he came back, Reese was still sitting outside.

"Mrs. Flynn, here's the prescription from that doctor."

After looking at it, Reese told Jason, "The prescription itself isn't the problem. Where's the medication?"

"I'll go get it."

"Alright."

Jason handed the medication to Reese, who examined it and frowned.

"This medication is problematic."

Jason was shocked, "Really? Mrs. Flynn, are you sure?"

"Given Grandpa's condition, you shouldn't need to ask me. It's very likely this medication is the root cause of his problems."

Hearing this, Jason was immediately furious, "I'll go find that doctor right now. Mr. Flynn is still in the hospital because of him."

"No need. If you go now, you probably won't find him. Let me check first. Mr. Tartt, I'll need you to give me that person's info."

"Alright, I know some basic details."

After all, they had trusted Loren's recommendation and didn't pay much attention. Who would've thought something like this would happen?

Seems like they need to be more cautious in the future. People can be unpredictable.

After getting some info about the doctor, Reese immediately had Calvin look into it.

Calvin typed a few more keys on the computer, and the info quickly popped up. If it was an ordinary person without a significant background, they could find it fast.

He pressed the final Enter key, "Reese, I found it."

"Print out the info for me, then find the person and notify me."

Calvin was a bit surprised, "Are you gonna interrogate him yourself? I don't think that's necessary. I can handle it for you."

"No need. I suspect this isn't as simple as it seems. There might be someone behind this."

After hearing Reese's analysis, Calvin immediately got it, "That makes sense. Why would an ordinary doctor randomly add something to the medication?"

And the added substances have no benefits, which is the most suspicious part.

"So you investigate, and I'll interrogate. If you go, I don't think you'll get anything out of him."

"Reese, you're underestimating me!"

"Is it underestimating you? It's just the truth, okay? If you were more competent, would I need to do this?"

"Fine, I'll investigate now, and you interrogate. I already feel sorry for whoever it is; I pity them."
