Chapter 603 Get a Room
In an instant, the hospital became bustling, and the news spread throughout the entire facility. The big deal was that Reese was a total rockstar in the medical world, and everyone wanted to see her in action.
However, since it was a surgery, not a concert. Only a few top docs got the golden ticket to watch.
Before Reese headed in, Alyssa clung to her hand. "Reese, you gotta save Sebastian."
The director, hanging around nearby, chimed in, "Miss, chill. With Reese on the job, she could pull someone back from the brink."
Hearing that, the nurses couldn’t help but buzz.
"Is she really that good? Director, you’re pulling our leg, right?"
"Pulling your leg? Google her, and you’ll see."
Why else would she be called a legend in the medical field?
The nurses did a quick search and were blown away.
"Wow, she’s the real deal. Never thought a woman could be this badass."
"I thought Thomas was top-notch, but he only got famous in his middle age. This woman’s in her twenties and already a legend."
"And she’s so low-key about it. Anyone else would be bragging all over the place."
"Dr. Perez is in for it today. Mr. Flynn’s our hospital’s biggest backer, and Mrs. Flynn’s a medical legend. Talk about a power couple."
"And they’re both super good-looking."
"Totally."
Reese’s surgery took two hours, and Alyssa was a nervous wreck the whole time.
When the light outside the OR finally went off, she rushed up as Reese walked out.
"Reese, Reese, how’d it go?" Alyssa asked.
Reese pulled off her mask, a little smile in her eyes. "Remember what I told you?"
Alyssa did remember. Reese said Sebastian would be fine.
Alyssa’s heart felt lighter. "Reese, you’re incredible."
Malcolm stepped up and dabbed Reese’s forehead with a tissue, looking all proud. "Of course, she's awesome as always."
Alyssa laughed, "That's right."
A bunch of doctors followed Reese out, totally in awe.
"She’s a real legend, we’re all blown away."
"Yeah, we were all sweating bullets, but you were cool as a cucumber. We’ve heard the stories, but seeing it is something else."
"Especially your surgical technique, it’s so precise and different from the usual. Any other doc would’ve been shaking to do the operation."
Brainstem surgery was no joke, and no one else could’ve pulled it off so smoothly.
They saw the kid’s brain injury was bad. Without some serious skill, he wouldn’t have made it.
The director was super impressed with Reese. "If you’re ever free, we’d love to have you do more surgeries here."
"Sorry, gotta pass," Reese said.
She never stuck around any hospital unless there was a super tough surgery. Otherwise, she thought it was a waste of her time.
The director didn’t push it. "Alright, if you’re not up for it, we won’t twist your arm. But just seeing your mad skills is a huge honor for our hospital."
Right then, Terry walked over, looking all sheepish. He knew he’d messed up.
He apologized to Reese, "I’m sorry, that was on me earlier. I didn’t get the full picture and doubted who you were."
Reese wasn’t one to hold grudges. "No worries, man. You were just doing your job. If you’d let me in without checking and something went wrong, it’d be on you."
Terry let out a sigh of relief, "Thank goodness you stepped in and saved the patient."
Reese turned to Alyssa and Malcolm, "Take care of Sebastian for me. I need to change."
Alyssa felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders. "Alright, Reese, go ahead. Thank you so much. If Sebastian hadn’t made it... I shudder to think about it."
Sebastian got hurt protecting her. If it wasn’t for him, she might’ve been the one in the operating room.
"Yeah, Sebastian’s good now. You can chill; everything’s gonna be fine," Reese patted Alyssa’s shoulder.
She then looked at Malcolm. Malcolm pulled her into a hug. "My wife is a total badass."
"It’s what I do. Even if it wasn’t Sebastian, I’d help anyone in need," Reese replied.
Malcolm gently tucked a stray hair behind her ear. "Alright, go rest. We’ll handle Sebastian. Maybe you should... lay low for a bit? The Hawthorne family might not take this well."
Knowing the Hawthorne family, they’d definitely stir up trouble for Reese. Even though Alyssa was from the Flynn family, Reese was still somewhat involved.
Malcolm didn’t want anything to happen to her. He’d never let that slide.
Reese stayed cool and calm, shaking her head. "No need, it’s not worth it."
Whatever the Hawthorne family did didn’t faze her. She never shied away from problems.
Malcolm wasn’t surprised by her answer. It was just like her. If she’d agreed, it wouldn’t have been her.
Malcolm held her hand tight, speaking seriously, "No matter what, babe, I’m always here for you. Whenever you need me, I’m right here."
Hearing this, Reese felt all her worries melt away.
She wrapped her arms around Malcolm’s waist, resting her head on his chest, her eyes full of love. "Honey, thank you. Thank you for being in my life."
Malcolm gently rubbed her head. "I should be the one thanking you for being in mine."
Reese made his life complete.
Their meeting had made them whole.
Watching the lovebirds, Alyssa couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy. "Get a room."
