Chapter 420 There Is Nothing Left
Clara now wished she could stuff Sebastian back into her womb.
"Are you an idiot? If she were here, we could force Malcolm out of this industry. Haven't you noticed that ever since he got involved in our media circle, the entire industry has been in turmoil? He's not someone we can easily deal with."
No matter what, they absolutely couldn't let anyone affect their interests; that was the basic principle.
Clara didn't want all the years of effort she and her son had put in to be ruined.
Sebastian pouted, disagreeing with Clara. "If you had brought her back and talked to her earlier, maybe things wouldn't have escalated to this point. She hasn't even done anything, and you all are already on high alert."
Clara almost wanted to hit him again. "Are you stupid? Do you have to wait until someone makes a move against you to realize it?"
Alexander couldn't be bothered to talk to Sebastian; his brother was too naive and easily trusted others.
He simply bypassed Sebastian and spoke directly to Clara, "Mom, now we just wait for Malcolm to come knocking."
Clara instantly understood Alexander's plan. "If you want to use this, it might be risky. I've heard that the young master of the Flynn family cherishes Reese very much."
Alexander let out a cold, mocking laugh. "It's precisely because he cherishes her that I brought her back."
As he spoke, a servant hurried in from outside and said, "Mr. Hawthorne, the president of the Flynn Group is here. He's at the door, and we can't stop him."
"If you can't stop him, let him in."
They hadn't planned on stopping him anyway.
Malcolm took quick strides, exuding a murderous aura as he approached Alexander. Before Alexander could say a word, Malcolm clenched his fist and punched him in the face.
Alexander didn't dodge and took the punch squarely.
Clara screamed in fright. "Mr. Flynn, you're the president of the Flynn Group. How can you just hit someone?"
Malcolm's sharp gaze shot towards Clara, making her instantly shut up. His gaze was so intimidating that even without speaking, it exerted immense pressure.
She now began to doubt whether Alexander's gamble was too big.
Alexander didn't fight back; he wanted Malcolm to vent his anger. Holding his mouth, he sneered disdainfully. "Who would have thought that girl would be so lucky to find a man like you who treasures her very much. But Mr. Flynn, an ambitious man shouldn't be tied down by a woman and emotions; it will become your vulnerability."
Malcolm was unfazed, looking at Alexander with disdain.
"If a man can't even protect his woman, he won't go far in his career."
After saying that, he turned his head and instructed Justin, "Help Reese up, let's go!"
Justin was about to step forward but was stopped by Alexander.
He snorted coldly and said, "I went through a lot to bring her back. Do you think you can just take her away easily?"
Malcolm frowned, his face looking terrifying, with tight lines around his jaw and mouth. "Then don't blame me for being rude to you!"
Saying that, Malcolm was ready to make a move, but Alexander sidestepped to dodge.
"Wait, I'm not here to fight you today. If we start fighting, no one will benefit. Let's talk about a solution."
"That's your solution, it has nothing to do with me. I won't just let the Hawthorne family's debt slide."
Anyone who hurt his wife would have to pay a price.
Alexander wasn't afraid of what Malcolm might do to him. The important thing now was to make him leave the industry.
He said frankly, "How about this? If you can leave this industry, I won't hold it against the girl for taking my project. She can return to the Hawthorne family, to her own family, and we'll treat her like a sister. The condition is, she can't interfere with Hawthorne family matters."
Malcolm, hearing this, looked as if he'd heard a joke. His expression turned cold, and each syllable he spoke was chilling.
"Alexander, do you misunderstand something? Do you think everyone is like the Hawthorne family, with nothing but profit on their minds? Do you think everyone would go to any lengths to join your family? Let me tell you the truth. My wife doesn't care about your family. She can handle you on her own, let alone if we join forces. Your family wouldn't even be left."
Alexander believed Malcolm had that power; he never doubted it. That's why he was desperately trying to find a way to get Malcolm to agree.
Looking back, he should have handled this himself from the beginning.
Clara was no longer so stubborn either, seeing how difficult the situation was. She had seen Alexander stay in his study for days without coming out or resting, likely because the Flynn family's involvement had greatly affected the company.
She also relented. "Mr. Flynn, how about we both make concessions? I know Reese must want to return to her family. After all, she has blood ties with the Hawthorne family. Let's call a truce, and have Stephen hold a press conference to announce Reese's identity. Life can go on as usual. What do you think?"
Malcolm flatly refused, "No need."
Clara didn't expect Malcolm to refuse so bluntly.
She sneered and said, "Mr. Flynn, haven't you asked Reese for her opinion? What if she wants to come back? All the effort before was to recognize her father, wasn't it? There's no need to put on airs now."
Malcolm found it amusing and couldn't help but laugh. "With family like you, do you think she needs you? She's managed on her own all these years and doesn't need you."
At this moment, Reese groggily opened her eyes and woke up. Seeing Malcolm and the Hawthorne family members, she vaguely remembered how Alexander had taken her away. That bastard had drugged her food, using such despicable means.
Thinking of this, Reese, in a flash, moved behind Alexander and pressed a silver needle she carried against his neck before anyone could react.
Everyone was stunned, and Clara screamed in fright.
"Reese, what are you doing? Let go of my son!"
