Chapter 419 Why Did You Bring Her Back?
Reese sneered and said, "I think you might as well just ask me when I plan to withdraw from the media industry."
Alexander's purpose was to get her to back off, but his attitude was far from respectful. He probably hadn't figured out her temperament yet.
Alexander gave a cold laugh. "Looks like you're not stupid."
"If you think I'm stupid, then you're really mistaken."
"So, what conditions will make you agree to exit this industry? The Flynn family shouldn't be short on money, and you certainly don't need another competitor."
If it was absolutely necessary to enter this industry, he wouldn't bother negotiating. But Reese and Malcolm weren't familiar with this industry. So they had other motives. There was no need for this.
If persuasion could work, Alexander would naturally choose to persuade.
Reese wasn't necessarily determined to compete in this industry, but Alexander's attitude made her uncomfortable.
"If the Hawthorne family weren't so unreasonable, I might not have gone this far." She said.
Alexander found it amusing. "It seems the Hawthorne family hasn't really done anything to you yet?"
"How do you want to treat me? Do you have to wait until someone gets hurt for it to count? Sebastian sent people to block me, your mom came over, and now it's you. The Hawthorne family broke the rules, so don't blame me."
She never forgave those who harmed her; that wasn't her style.
Alexander hadn't expected Reese to be so difficult to deal with. She was not easy to handle, and his patience was running out.
Alexander's previously calm demeanor was replaced with a sullen expression.
His icy voice now carried emotion. "So, we can't reach an agreement, can we?"
Reese found it amusing. "Didn't you realize that coming to negotiate with me was a mistake from the start?"
She never intended to exit this industry, regardless of the reasoning. If it was for financial gain, she had even less reason to leave.
In other words, no matter what Alexander said, she wouldn't exit the industry.
It was no longer just a matter between her and the Hawthorne family; it was about her personal interests.
Reese stood up. "Thanks for the hospitality, but I have to go."
"You've eaten, and now you want to leave?"
Alexander's gaze turned icy, and his entire demeanor radiated hostility.
The atmosphere changed instantly, and there was a palpable tension in the air.
Reese's eyes sharpened, and a murderous aura spread around her. She confronted Alexander directly. "What do you want to do, send your subordinates to teach me a lesson? I'm afraid you don't have the capability."
Alexander couldn't help but mock her inwardly; Reese was overly confident in herself.
"You've been in this industry long enough to have learned a lot from Nolan. Why don't you understand that when overt methods don't work, you can use covert ones?"
Reese frowned. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, I've already drugged your food. Soon, you'll be too weak to move. I don't believe Malcolm won't comply with my demands with you in my hands."
After saying that, Alexander ordered his men, "Take her away!"
Two tall men approached, and Reese's fierce aura flickered. She kicked at them, but her strength was clearly insufficient. If it were before, she would have knocked them down, but now, they didn't budge.
Alexander's eyes gleamed with satisfaction. "Surrender."
The drug took effect, and Reese could barely stand, let alone fight Alexander. One person was enough to subdue her.
Her vision blurred, and she gritted her teeth at Alexander. "If you don't let me go today, my husband won't spare you."
Alexander snorted and said, "With you in my hands, I'm not afraid of your husband. Take her away!"
Reese was unconscious by the time she was taken away.
Malcolm noticed Reese hadn't returned and called her, but there was no answer. His face darkened with concern.
He knew Reese wouldn't ignore his calls unless something was wrong.
Malcolm quickly called Justin, who was busy with other matters but came over urgently.
"Mr. Flynn, what can I do?"
"Find out where Reese is."
"Yes, sir."
Before Justin could leave, the office door opened again, and Sophia rushed in.
"Mr. Flynn... something's wrong, Reese..."
Malcolm frowned, sensing trouble.
"What happened to Reese?"
"She was taken by the Hawthorne family, but I don't know where she is."
Malcolm's demeanor turned stormy, his gaze piercing.
He ordered Justin, "Drive the car. We're going to demand the Hawthorne family hand her over!"
Justin nodded. "Yes, sir."
Malcolm grabbed his coat and headed out, but Sophia hurriedly approached.
"Mr. Flynn, can I come with you? I'm worried about Reese."
"I'll bring her back safely. If something happens, I don't want you in danger, too."
After saying that, Malcolm left with Justin.
Sophia watched them leave, full of worry, hoping they could bring Reese back.
She should have informed Mr. Flynn earlier. She thought Reese could handle it, but later worried something might go wrong. In the end, she decided to inform Mr. Flynn.
Now she could only hope Mr. Flynn could bring Reese back safely.
Alexander had taken Reese back, and Clara was shocked to see her.
"Why did you bring her back?"
"We couldn't reach an agreement." Alexander replied calmly.
Clara snorted and said, "Stubborn, just like your father."
Sebastian came in whistling and was startled to see someone in the chair.
"Ree..."
He looked at Alexander in confusion. "Why did you bring her back? Why is she unconscious?"
Alexander gave Sebastian a sidelong glance, too lazy to explain.
Clara smacked Sebastian on the head.
"Are you stupid? If we didn't knock her out, would she have come with us?"
Sebastian was even more confused. "But what's the point of bringing her back? Will it help?"
