Chapter 497 A Fierce Fight

The doctor looked baffled. "Who did this to you?"

Vincent turned away, clearly not wanting to spill the beans. No way he could admit a woman beat him up, especially when that woman was his brother's wife. Talk about embarrassing.

Seeing Vincent clamming up, the doctor didn't push it.

"You're not in bad shape, but your buddy's in a rough spot. He needs surgery, and there's no guarantee he'll fully recover."

Vincent, being a doctor himself, knew how serious a spinal fracture could be. Reese had gone way too far. A lesson was one thing, but breaking someone's spine? That was overkill.

Yeah, it was extreme, but what could he do? He knew Reese's temper. Anyone who crossed her was in for a world of hurt.

Vincent sighed. "Let me deal with it."

"You? That's not smart. You should get checked out to see if you have any other injuries."

"It's fine. She didn't hit me that hard. I can handle it."

What really worried him was that Reese probably wasn't done. It would be a miracle if she didn't beat him half to death. Since she went easy on him, something else had to be up.

Who knew what was coming next?

The doctor was stumped too. A spinal fracture was no joke. If the surgeon was good, the guy might have a shot at recovery. If not, his life could be ruined.

He'd never seen anyone strike with such precision.

The more the doctor thought about it, the more curious he got. He couldn't help but ask Vincent.

"Dr. Flynn, who is this person? She must be in our field. I'd love to meet her."

Vincent shot him a glare, and the doctor immediately shut up.

After leaving, Reese called Malcolm.

"Honey, are you done?"

"Yeah, I'm on the street next door. See the sign?"

"I see it."

In less than two minutes, a white car pulled up. Reese helped Sophia in.

"You first."

Sophia was still in shock. She'd seen Reese's skills before, but a bar fight was a whole new level. She was still buzzing from the adrenaline.

Reese was the epitome of a modern woman—financially independent, beautiful, tall, and with a killer attitude.

Reese's personality was straightforward and decisive, which Sophia admired most. So many women were wishy-washy these days, but not Reese. She knew her strengths and played to them.

Malcolm noticed Sophia's dazed look and raised an eyebrow at Reese. "Drunk?"

"Scared." Reese replied, deadpan.

Malcolm was even more puzzled. "Scared silly? By your drinking?"

Reese's drinking was legendary. She was a powerhouse in every way, hard to match.

Reese didn't plan on keeping anything from Malcolm. She knew the truth would come out eventually.

"It was Vincent, the guy Sophia was kinda seeing. Well, not exactly seeing, but you get the idea. It was a mess. They hooked up after getting drunk, and Vincent just bailed. No responsibility, no nothing. We bumped into him at the bar today, and his friends were being total jerks about it."

Thinking about those jerks still made Reese want to slap them silly.

Malcolm got the gist. "So you got into a fight, and it freaked Sophia out."

Before Reese could respond, Sophia leaned forward, gripping the edge of her seat.

"Mr. Flynn, you have no idea how awesome Reese was. She handled those guys like a pro! The crowd was cheering."

Malcolm's eye twitched, and he forced a smile, nodding thoughtfully.

"Did the cops show up?"

Sophia shook her head. "No, but an ambulance did."

"An ambulance..."

Malcolm was genuinely impressed with Reese. He never worried about her getting hurt. It was everyone else who should worry about getting hurt by her.

Justin, standing nearby, couldn't help but laugh. Only Reese could beat someone so badly they needed an ambulance.

Sophia hurried to explain, afraid Malcolm and Justin would misunderstand Reese.

"Don't blame Reese. She did it for me. Those guys were talking trash about me and Vincent. Reese stood up for me. If anyone's gonna take the fall, it won't be Reese."

Justin found Sophia's panic amusing.

"Relax. No one's holding you responsible, and no one would dare hold Mrs. Flynn responsible. Otherwise, they'd be up against Mr. Flynn. And trust me, Mr. Flynn's not worried about Mrs. Flynn fighting. He's worried about her getting hurt. It's a good thing those guys didn't hurt her, or it wouldn't just be a trip to the hospital."

They might even end up in jail, depending on Malcolm's mood.

Sophia felt relieved hearing this.

"That's good."

She worried about causing trouble for Reese. It was her mess, and she'd already taken up so much of Reese's time.

Reese turned to Sophia. "Don't stress about it. They won't mess with me, and they wouldn't dare. As for you and Vincent, Mr. Flynn will make sure he makes it right, whether it's compensation or an apology. You can count on that."

If you did something, you had to face the consequences. That rule applied to everyone, no exceptions.

Sophia sighed. "Actually, it's not entirely his fault. Part of it is on me. I was the one who wanted to drink with him."

She blamed herself for being foolish, not Vincent.

Reese knew Sophia was simple-minded and easily deceived.

But regardless of Sophia's naivety, Vincent's irresponsible behavior was wrong.

"Don't overthink it. Let's get you home first. We'll deal with the rest later."
