Chapter 404 Disturbance

Sophia, although scared inside, was still angry after hearing Natalie's words. She cautiously stepped forward to speak up for Reese.

"Natalie, don't you think you're being ridiculous? It was clearly you who started this trouble. If Reese wasn't so skilled, those people you hired wouldn't have shown us any mercy. You wouldn't be standing here now if Reese hadn't been lenient with you."

"Shut up! You're no better than her!" Natalie angrily shouted. It irked her that Sophia, a timid person, dared to contradict her.

Reese didn't like wasting time on useless people, especially someone who was currently irrational.

Reese made a brief call to Malcolm. "Natalie is causing problems downstairs. Have the company's security come and take her away."

"Okay," he replied.

Upon hearing Reese calling for security, Natalie knew her time was running out. Even so, she couldn't let Reese off the hook.

Natalie shifted her focus and shouted at the others. "Look at this woman. She had someone take advantage of me and take photos. Now the photos are in her hands, and she refuses to give them to me. You be the judge."

Natalie's outburst prompts others to join in, accusing Reese.

"This woman is so despicable. She actually had someone exploit Natalie. No wonder Natalie is so upset. If it were me, I'd be on the verge of jumping off a building. Let's see how she handles it."

"She even took photos for the purpose of blackmail, pushing Natalie to the brink. It's bad enough that she looks fierce and unapproachable, but she has a malicious mind as well."

"I don't know how her parents raised such a ruthless person who would do such things."

At that moment, everyone was criticizing Reese, saying the harshest things and casting strange looks at her. Sophia was confused by the scene and didn't want these people misunderstanding things about Reese. She hurriedly explained, "You're mistaken. Reese didn't do this. It was Natalie who hired someone to harm us. Reese is a good person."

"Really? She had someone take compromising photos of Natalie. Even if Natalie had really done what you said she did, it didn't cause you any substantial harm. But Reese actually let someone take photos of her, which is despicable. You have the nerve to call security. I think the police should be called to arrest you."

Sophia got angrier after hearing these words, but she was helpless. She tried to defend Reese, but these people kept blaming her.

Sophia was on the verge of crying. She helplessly held Reese's hand, choking back sobs as she shouted at the people.

"Stop spreading rumors here. Reese really didn't harm her. She was the one who hired someone to harm us."

Reese's gaze was cold. Even standing in the sunlight, she feels as cold as ice, especially with her piercing eyes, which make people unable to look directly at her.

Reese pulled Sophia behind her, saying, "Don't bother explaining to these people. It's useless."

It was pointless to talk to a group of people who didn't even know the facts and only saw things on the surface without rational judgment. If they had seen the scene between Reese and Sophia at that time, they wouldn't have said that.

At that moment, the security guard sent by Malcolm had arrived and was about to take Natalie away. Natalie, upon seeing someone coming to pull her, began to struggle frantically.

"It's not me, it's her you should be taking. She's a bad woman! Quick, call the police and take her away!" she shouted.

Justin also came out, looking serious.

"Take this person away and call the police," he ordered.

Natalie glared fiercely at Reese, shouting with a strained neck. "Reese, I won't let you succeed! You won't have a good end! Even if I die, I won't let you off!"

Impatiently, Justin waved his hand at the security guard. "Hurry up, what are you waiting for?"

Natalie was quickly taken away, and the situation gradually calmed down, with the spectators dispersing.

Justin then approached Reese and quietly said, "Mrs. Flynn, Mr. Flynn wants you to go upstairs."

"Okay."

After Justin went back into the office, Reese turned around and saw Sophia standing in place. Her face was pale, as if she hadn't recovered from the previous scene, and her eyes were still filled with fear.

Reese knew that it was normal for Sophia to be like this, given her lack of courage, but the fact that she spoke up for herself earlier was commendable.

Reese raised her hand and gently patted Sophia's shoulder to comfort her.

"It's okay, go back to work."

Sophia held onto Reese and asked worriedly, "Is Natalie crazy?"

"Not crazy, just upset." Reese's reaction was vastly different from Sophia's. One was visibly shaken, the other calm and unruffled, as if the recent events were just a minor incident.

Sophia couldn't understand how Reese remained so composed in the face of such a situation. To her, Reese was not a simple person, and now it seemed true.

After settling Sophia, Reese went to Malcolm's office. She pushed open the door, and Malcolm, standing tall by the floor-to-ceiling window, accentuating the view of the towering buildings outside.

Reese walked in and sat directly on the couch.

"Let me handle Natalie," she said.

Malcolm turned his head, his brows furrowed. He was clearly affected by the recent events, especially since they happened right under his nose.

"No need, I'll have Justin Chabon send her out of this city. Natalie can no longer stay here."

Reese wasn't interested in that. Her main goal was to figure out who was behind Natalie's manipulation. Natalie's alone couldn't possibly have the money and means to do what she did.

"Don't rush things. Let me investigate the matter before deciding what to do," Reese replied.

Malcolm raised an eyebrow unexpectedly and half-jokingly said, "Aren't you afraid she'll cause you trouble again?"

Reese chuckled fearlessly, with that hint of arrogance in her attitude.

"Do you think I would fear idle gossip from those people? They are irrelevant to me, and I won't let anyone's words affect my life."

The most important thing in life is to stand firm in your own beliefs.

Malcolm's admiration was evident in his eyes. "Indeed, my wife is worthy. She doesn't go with the flow and always has her own opinions."

Reese tilted her head back, suddenly feeling a bit tired, and her voice softened.

"Honey, could you get me some of the coffee you made last time?"
