Chapter 518 Asking a Favor
Reese smirked, realizing her luck in finding Sebastian racing nearby.
She remembered his usual Thursday races and figured he'd be around.
"We can race, but I need a favor first," Reese said.
"Anything you need, just say it," Sebastian replied without hesitation.
It was the first time Reese had asked for help, and he wasn't about to refuse. Plus, it was a chance to get closer to her.
"I'm being chased near Swiftway Express. Can you get some friends to distract them?"
Sebastian nodded. "Got it, you need a distraction. Don't worry, I got this."
"I'll send my location, but hurry. I can't hold out long," Reese urged.
"Got it, sis. I'll be there ASAP," Sebastian promised.
"Alright, see you soon." Reese hung up.
Everhart winced as Malcolm's sudden acceleration slammed him into the seat. "You did that on purpose, didn't you?"
Malcolm coolly replied, "Good catch."
"No kidding, you almost gave me a concussion."
In the cramped car, tension was high. Louis, annoyed with Everhart, decided to stir things up. "You had it coming for messing with Reese. A little bump is nothing. You think Nolan's gonna go easy on you? He'll mess you up real bad."
Everhart sneered, "So I should thank you?"
Louis felt Everhart was ungrateful. "Think what you want. When we hand you to Nolan, let's see how tough you are."
Reese, fed up with the bickering, snapped, "Can you two shut up?"
"Reese, I really want to punch this guy!" Louis said, clenching his jaw.
Reese didn't object. "Fine, once we're out of the car, you can punch him. For now, hold it in."
"Fine, I'll wait."
Reese added, "We'll both punch him later."
Louis almost laughed. "I can get behind that."
Reese clearly hated Everhart too. But could he handle it?
Everhart's eyes widened. "Are you two joking about me?"
Reese shot him a cold look. "Shut up, or we'll start early."
Intimidated, Everhart shut up. He knew Reese's temper; if he pushed her, she might throw him out of the car, right into Nolan's hands.
The pursuers were closing in. Malcolm swerved sharply, nearly tossing everyone out.
Reese and Louis stayed steady, but Everhart, not seated properly, slammed into the door, quickly getting a bump on his head. The pain almost knocked him out.
Louis saw Everhart's grimace but knew he couldn't do anything about Malcolm.
While talking to Louis, Reese kept an eye on Malcolm's driving. His rapid improvement surprised her. Not long ago, he barely knew the basics, but now he was handling the car like a pro. At this rate, he might even give her a run for her money.
Her husband was amazing.
With Malcolm's skills, they should be able to shake off Nolan's men. Despite their numbers, they lacked Malcolm's finesse. But with so many cars on their tail, it wasn't easy, and the relentless chase added to her anxiety.
Suddenly, the pursuers sped up, trying to ram them. Malcolm struggled to avoid them.
Louis looked serious. "Reese, are they trying to force us to stop on the highway?"
"Looks like it."
Otherwise, with Malcolm's speed, they wouldn't catch up.
Everhart bit his lip, finally looking nervous. "These guys are crazy."
Reese sneered, "They're after you. Nolan doesn't care about their lives."
Everhart got anxious. "Malcolm, can't you go faster?"
Malcolm's voice turned cold. "Keep talking, and I'll throw you out."
Everhart shut up. Being thrown out now would be a disaster. He realized Nolan wasn't planning to let him go and knew he needed a way out.
As the car beside them closed in, Malcolm was about to make a sharp turn when another car suddenly rammed the pursuer away.
A highway collision was no joke, and it forced the pursuers to stop.
Reese immediately recognized Sebastian's car. It was the same flashy ride from their last showdown.
She didn't expect Sebastian to be so bold, ramming straight into the other vehicle. Luckily, his car was modified for protection, so the impact wasn't a big deal.
With Sebastian blocking them, they could escape. Malcolm quickly drove off the highway onto a narrow road.
As the tension eased, Reese felt herself unwind. Malcolm pulled over, opened the door, and helped Reese out. "Honey, you okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine, I'm used to it," Reese replied. People with driving skills usually got used to the speed and turns, though it might be uncomfortable at first.
Everhart suddenly pushed open the door and vomited by a tree. Reese turned away in disgust and walked a few more feet.
Louis walked over and tentatively asked Malcolm, "Mr. Flynn, did you do that on purpose?"
