Chapter 609 She's a Big Shot

The next day, Reese and Calvin decided to swing by the stock market to check out the latest trends. But as soon as they got to the entrance, they were stopped.

"Sorry, do you have a card for this place? If not, you can't go in," the security guard said.

Calvin scoffed. Seriously? They needed a card to get in here?

This wasn't how it used to be.

Reese asked calmly, "I remember there wasn't such a rule before. When did this start?"

The security guard looked at Reese, who was wearing a mask, , and spat disdainfully, "What does it have to you?"

"How can you talk like that?" Calvin snapped. He wasn't about to let anyone disrespect Reese.

The security guard sneered. "So what? No card, no entry. It's the same everywhere."

Reese couldn't stand people who looked down on others.

She turned to Calvin and said, "Get their manager to see me."

"Sure thing, Reese." Calvin pulled out his phone.

Seeing them act together, the security guard said sarcastic, "Do you really think you own this building? You want to call our manager? Do you even have his number? Look at how shabby you both are dressed."

Calvin was taken aback. "Shabby..."

Even though their clothes looked ordinary, they were custom-made.

The security guard had seen many people in this building, and everyone who came in and out was wealthy. Over time, his standards had risen.

In his eyes, people like Reese, who dressed plainly, were naturally looked down upon.

Having seen too many industry elites and tycoons wanting to enter, the security guard impatiently urged them, "Alright, hurry up and leave. Even if you stand here all day, I won't let you in."

"Really? I don't think so. In fact, I think you're about to lose your job," Reese said, unfazed by the security guard's mockery. She looked at him with contempt, like a queen looking down on an ant.

Feeling the pressure from Reese's gaze, the security guard felt a wave of oppression.

How could a twenty-year-old girl make him so flustered and suffocated?

He wanted to say something, but the words got stuck in his throat.

His colleague couldn't help but mock him, "Why are you chickening out? She's just a twenty-year-old girl. How can she scare you?"

Emboldened by his colleague, the security guard pretended to be calm and continued, "Who do you think you are? Do you think you own this place? You can't fire me!"

"Really? Just see," Reese smirked, her eyes cold, not taking the security guard seriously at all.

Calvin had already made the call. "Hello, Mr. Turner, Reese wants to see you. Yes, you might need to come down. We don't have a card for this building and can't get in."

Hanging up, Calvin spoke to Reese, "Reese, I've called Mr. Turner. He said he's coming down."

"Then we'll wait here," Reese remained calm and composed.

The two security guards couldn't help but laugh.

"Do they really think they're acting in a play?"

"Who do they think they are? Why would Mr. Turner come down to see them?"

"They're just putting on a show and now they're stuck."

"But they did their homework. They know Mr. Turner owns this place. They must've planned this out."

"Yeah, they're probably trying to bluff their way in by dropping his name."

Calvin was speechless. First, there was one troublemaker, and now there were two.

A few minutes later, Jesse Turner's voice came from inside. "Ms. Brooks, is that you? What a surprise! Come in. Why are you standing outside in this heat?"

Reese took off her mask, leaving the two security guards stunned.

This woman was gorgeous. They thought she was just some ordinary girl, but she turned out to be a rare beauty.

They'd seen plenty of beautiful women at this entrance, but this one had an extraordinary vibe, cold and unapproachable but still intriguing.

Reese didn't even glance at the two security guards. She spoke directly to Jesse, "Mr. Turner, I didn't know you started implementing access control. Now you need a card to check the stock market? Is there a fee? Where's the money? I haven't seen a penny."

Jesse's face stiffened. "Ms. Brooks, the money is accounted for every month and transferred to your account. If there's an issue, you can have your finance team check it."

The security guards, who was shocked by Reese's beauty, were awestruck by Jesse's attitude.

It was the first time they saw Jesse being so polite to someone, and he called her Ms. Brooks...

What did Jesse's money have to do with this woman?

The security guard couldn't help but ask Jesse, "Mr. Turner, this woman..."

"What do you mean 'this woman'? Are you out of your mind or blind? This is Ms. Brooks. She owns this building. I work for her. How dare you stop her from entering?" Jesse scolded them.

Scared, the security guard went weak in the knees. "Mr. Turner... you must be joking. She's so young, how could she be..."

"Stop talking nonsense and apologize to Ms. Brooks," Jesse interrupted.

Terrified, the security guard quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, Ms. Brooks. It's my fault. I underestimated you and didn't recognize you. Please forgive me."

Calvin couldn't help but mock, "Now you know to apologize? What were you doing earlier? Do you need me to repeat what you said to recall what happened?"

The security guard quickly shook his head. "No... no need. It's all my fault. Blame my big mouth."

Saying that, the security guard started slapping his own mouth.

Reese had other matters to attend to and didn't want to waste time here.

She spoke to Jesse, "Just fire them. If every staff is like this, how can our customers come in? Also, cancel the card access requirement immediately."

Jesse nodded quickly. "Yes, I'll cancel it right away. Ms. Brooks, please go in. Don't bother with these two guards. I'll notify HR to fire them."

Reese put her mask back on and walked inside with Calvin.

Knowing they were in big trouble, the two security guards quickly pleaded with Jesse. "Mr. Turner, we really realize our mistakes. Please forgive us this time for the sake of our years of service."

Jesse sneered, "Forgive you? You must be joking. Do you know who she is? She's a big shot, untouchable. And you dared to mess with her. Just go and never come back. It's already good enough that you're not blacklisted."
