Chapter 441 Kill Reese
They took her to a club, but it was a private one, usually not open to outsiders. Sofia had a black bag over her head, and it was only removed when they arrived.
Sofia was momentarily disoriented and took a while to adjust to the light. She saw a middle-aged man in his fifties or so sitting opposite her. He exuded authority and was not to be trifled with, more like someone from the mafia.
Sofia had always feared getting involved with such people. She believed she had never provoked anyone. Why would they kidnap her out of nowhere?
She stammered, "What do you want from me? I have no money. I'm just an ordinary worker."
Nolan, still puffing on a cigar, looked at Sofia's frightened expression and felt confident. She seemed easy to control, no big deal.
Nolan instructed Joseph, "Get this young lady something to drink. Look how scared she is. I told you to invite her, not scare her."
Then, he squinted and smiled at Sofia, saying, "Don't be afraid. We're not bad people."
Sofia glanced fearfully at these menacing-looking individuals.
"How dare you kidnap people on the street with knives?"
Nolan laughed. "If we didn't do that, how would you come with us? Don't worry. We just have something to discuss with you. It's a good thing for you."
Sofia didn't believe a word he said.
But she wanted to leave as soon as possible. She cautiously raised her head. "What... what do you want from me?"
Nolan nodded at Joseph, who immediately brought a black bag and placed it in front of Sofia, opening it.
It was full of money, making Sofia's eyes widen. She had never seen so much money before.
Nolan said, "There are five hundred thousand dollars. I heard someone in your family is sick and urgently needs surgery, or their life might be in danger. This is your life-saving money."
Indeed, someone in Sofia's family was sick. Otherwise, she wouldn't be working so hard. But she also believed that nothing in the world was truly free, especially from people who looked sinister.
Sofia asked, "What do you want from me? There's no way you'd give me so much money for nothing."
Five hundred thousand dollars would take her a long time to earn.
Nolan leisurely took a sip of coffee. "You're a smart girl. Yes, we need your help. I heard you were close to Reese in college. We need you to help us get close to her, then find an opportunity to ruin her reputation, preferably make her disappear from this world forever. Of course, you don't have to do the dirty work. You just need to set the stage, and we'll handle the rest."
Sofia turned pale with fright. "You... you want to kill Reese? That's illegal!"
Nolan sneered, his face showing disdain as if he were merely joking. To them, such things were trivial. "We're not asking you to do the dirty work, just to gather some information. After all, you're close to Reese."
Sofia was extremely reluctant. Reese had helped her so much. How could she betray her?
When it came to Reese, Sofia had her principles, but she still wanted to understand the situation.
Sofia tentatively asked Nolan, "Why do you want to go after Reese? Did she do something to provoke you? Considering she's just a young girl, can't you leave her alone?"
Joseph, seeing Sofia's many questions, shouted at her menacingly, "What does that have to do with you? Stop asking so many questions. Just do what Nolan tells you, or your grandma in the hospital might not survive."
Sofia's heart sank at those words, and her fear grew.
"If you want to trouble Reese, go find her yourself. What does it have to do with me? I want to go home!" As she said this, she prepared to stand up. But before she could, Joseph pushed her back down.
Joseph threatened. "If you dare walk out that door today, I guarantee your grandma in the hospital will die. We'll have someone pull out her oxygen tube immediately, and you'll be left holding her ashes."
Sofia trembled with anger. "You... you are inhuman!"
"We're not human, to begin with. Now you have two choices. Either cooperate with Nolan or see your grandma's corpse." Joseph had no patience to argue with Sofia. But Nolan, on the other hand, was very patient, unlike his usual irritable self.
Sofia knew these people were capable of anything. They dared to kill. If she had this money, she could save her grandma's life. No matter how hard she worked, she couldn't gather the surgery fee in a short time. This money would be available immediately if she agreed.
But if she took the money, it would mean agreeing to help them harm Reese, which she couldn't bear.
What should she do now? Two paths lay before her, but she didn't want to choose either.
Nolan pointed at Joseph and said slowly, "Since you can't make a decision, help her."
Joseph immediately understood and took out his phone, showing it to Sofia. "Take a look."
When Sofia saw the screen, there were several men in black standing by her grandma's hospital bed. She was terrified. "How can you do this!"
"Enough, just agree. The five hundred thousand dollars will be yours. You don't have to kill anyone. What's the holdup?" Joseph was annoyed by Sofia's hesitation.
Sofia lowered her head, seeing her grandma trembling with fear. Her heart ached. Her grandma had raised her since she was little. No matter what, she had to save her life.
After weighing her options, Sofia agreed. She had no other choice. If she didn't agree, these people wouldn't let her go.
"Okay, but I can only provide information. If you want me to harm Reese, I won't do it." Her minimum requirement was not to harm Reese, at least not directly.
Nolan agreed readily. "No problem. We'll make a plan for you, including everything you need to do. Just follow the plan."
Sofia asked, "But what if Reese gets suspicious?"
