Chapter 556 In Agony
Hearing that, the waiter changed his atitude immediately as he said with a hint of sarcasm, "You're Ms. Flynn, aren't you? Surely you can afford a meal."
Feeling extremely embarrassed, Everly wished she could crawl into a hole.
With the waiter's aggressive demeanor, she felt disrespected. She had grown up in the Flynn family, living a life of luxury in no want of anything.
She was always the one to be envied When had she ever been treated like this?
The waiter's disdainful look was obvious showing disrepect to her.
Everly stiffened her neck and argued, "Don't talk nonsense. When did I say I can't afford this? I gave you my card, and it's not my fault you couldn't process it."
The waiter was almost infuriated as he retorted, "How can you say that? Your card was declined because Mr. Flynn froze it. What does that have to do with us? it's not like that it would only happen in our store."
This left Everly at a loss for words. She knew her argument was weak, but the waiter's aggressive words were too much. She wasn't really trying to skip out on the bill, after all.
Given Everly's background, their standoff drew the attention of other customers.
"Isn't that Ms. Flynn?" Someone curiously asked.
"How come she can't afford a meal? Is she trying to skip out on the bill?" Another added.
"Who knows? A lot of rich people do that nowadays. They think they can get away without paying because of their status. They always say, 'Do you think I can't afford a meal?'" A woman chimed in.
'What could the waiter do? They have to agree. They couldn't offend customers over a meal," Others said.
Everly's ears turned red as she heard the comments, especially with so many people looking at her.
Seeing that Everly indeed couldn't pay, the waiter suggested, "Miss, please come with me to the manager's office."
Everly felt a bit relieved at his words as long as she wasn't exposed in public.
She followed the waiter to the manager's office, where she faced more sarcasm.
This is what human do, acting gleefully the ones who are in their bad days.
Everly never thought she'd be in this situation. She always believed she could live a smooth life in the Flynn family.
Never had she imagined such a series of changes would happen.
The manager looked Everly up and down and snorted, "Since you can't pay, we calculated your meal cost. You should work here as a dishwasher for three months to pay it off."
Hearing that, Everly was shocked as she yelled, "What? You want me to wash dishes?"
'How ridiculous!' she thought.
She used to be a member of the Fylnn family and had never been treated like this. Now they wanted her to wash dishes!
The manager could see Everly was unwilling and said, "Ms. Flynn, your days are gone. The Flynn family has abandoned you, and your card is frozen. You're just an ordinary folk like our waitstaff now."
Everly glared at the manager viciously, but feeling helpless.
She couldn't do such menial work, especially with her hands, which she had regularly cared for. The care cost more than the staff's salary.
Making her do such work was like a death sentence to her.
At that time, someone entered the office to report, "Manager, someone is looking for you outside."
"Okay, I'll be right there." The manager stood up and gave Everly an ultimatum. "Ms. Flynn, if you agree, follow our staff. If not, we'll have to call the police."
Everly panicked at the mention of the police as she pleaded, "No, don't call the police!"
If the police were involved, the news would spread, and everyone would know she couldn't pay for a meal. How could she face anyone in Atlanta?
She had no choice. After a long pause, she finally spoke, "Okay, show me the environment."
The waiter sneered, no longer treating her as a member of the Flynn family, but mocking her, "Ms. Flynn, you're just a worker here now. Why do you need to see the environment? If you don't like it, do you think you can leave?"
Hearing the waiter's mockery, Everly gritted her teeth.
The news quickly reached Malcolm, as it was all arranged by him.
Everly had to pay for what she did, but it was just a start. Malcolm wanted her to continue to suffer.
Everly was never a real Flynn. If Aidenr hadn't taken pity on her, she wouldn't have been taken in.
She was treated like a granddaughter but repaid him with betrayal.
When she harmed Aiden, she never considered his kindness. Malcolm wouldn't show mercy either, as she destroyed their relationship herself.
Justin entered with photos and reported, "Mr. Flynn, these were taken at the restaurant. Ms. Flynn was very embarrassed. As you instructed, the manager made her wash dishes for three months."
For someone like Everly, who had always lived in luxury, this was indeed difficult.
Even though she wasn't a blood relative of the Flynn family, she was never mistreated. Now, her life was like falling from heaven to hell, which was hard for anyone to accept.
Malcolm glanced at the photos and showed no emotion.
He tossed the photos on the table and instructed, "Send these to the media."
Hearing that, Justin was shocked.
