Chapter 490: I Like Self-Reliance
As most folks cleared out, Malcolm turned to Justin. "Help Grandpa to my office first."
"Got it, Mr. Flynn."
Justin and Jason helped Aiden into the office, while Malcolm casually placed a hand on Reese's shoulder.
"Honey, you've really worked hard this time."
"It's alright. We tackled a big problem. You helped me when I was in trouble, so naturally, I'll help you when you're in trouble. Isn't that what couples do?"
Without Malcolm, she wouldn't be who she is now. Maybe she'd still be the closed-off Reese who trusted no one.
This is the real Reese.
Malcolm knew his safe return was all thanks to Reese. Even though Vincent framed him, they still needed evidence to clear his name.
Sure, he could've managed it alone, but it would've been a hassle and might not have been quick enough to stop Vincent today.
Back in the office, Reese stepped forward. "Let me check on Grandpa. He doesn't look well; maybe Vincent upset him earlier."
As people age, they tend to have various issues.
Jason and Justin stepped aside, and Reese examined Aiden, then pulled out a small bottle of medicine from her pocket.
"Grandpa, take this first and see if your heart rate goes down."
Malcolm asked, "Honey, what's wrong with Grandpa?"
"He might've been a bit uncomfortable due to emotional agitation earlier, but it's okay. He'll feel better soon after taking this medicine."
After taking the medicine Reese gave him, Aiden's complexion gradually improved with Jason gently patting his chest.
"Now that Vincent is dealt with, Malcolm, you need to be careful. You know his competitive nature; he won't let this go easily."
Aiden knew Vincent's temperament too well.
Malcolm instructed Justin, "Did you hear that? Find someone to follow him and report his actions to me."
"Understood, Mr. Flynn."
"And also, check on those shareholders. See what dirt they have. We need to deal with those who pose a risk to the company."
"Alright, I'll handle it right away."
After Justin left, Aiden gratefully said to Reese,
"Reese, this time, the Flynn family really owes you. If it weren't for you... Vincent might have succeeded."
Aiden used to think that no matter how capable Reese was, she was just a woman. How capable could a woman be? Didn't they all rely on men?
But he never expected that the Reese they once looked down upon could now turn the tide and revive the Flynn Group.
Now, he could finally rest assured to leave the Flynn Group to them. With the help of Reese and Malcolm, the Flynn family would only get better.
Reese, receiving Aiden's praise, remained humble.
"It's nothing, Grandpa. Since I married Malcolm, I'm half a Flynn family member. I don't care about the future, but now that he's in trouble, I have to help. Not for the Flynn family, but because he's my husband."
Reese reiterated her stance, wanting to prove that she wasn't after the Flynn family's wealth or had ulterior motives. Her actions were solely because Malcolm was her husband.
Reese's response made Aiden see her in a new light. He couldn't stop smiling and kept saying to Jason, "Looks like after this, you two should think about having a kid. I really want to hold a great-grandchild."
Jason chuckled, "Mr. Aiden Flynn, you're too eager. It still depends on Malcolm and Reese. This kind of thing can't be rushed."
Aiden thought about it and realized it made sense. "Right, once you finish the company's matters, you can start thinking about it."
Malcolm and Reese exchanged a glance, noting Aiden's interest in a great-grandchild.
Malcolm also desired a child soon, influenced by Aiden's advancing age and his own. He sometimes fantasized about what their child would look like, hoping they would resemble Reese. But it all depended on whether Reese was willing, and such matters couldn't be forced.
Reese stayed silent, and Malcolm had a rough idea of her thoughts.
To avoid awkwardness, Malcolm said to Aiden, "Grandpa, we're not in a hurry. Let's wait a bit."
Aiden felt a bit disappointed hearing this. "How old do you think I am? If we wait any longer, I might not see it."
"You will, Grandpa. Don't say that. With Reese here, you'll live a long life."
"I don't want to live a long life; I want a great-grandchild."
Aiden started to act a bit childish, but his tone wasn't as forceful as before.
Reese was the type who wouldn't confront others unless they confronted her first. "Grandpa, let's wait until this busy period is over. The company isn't stable yet. You want the Flynn Group to grow bigger so it can provide opportunities for our descendants, right? You don't want your great-grandchild to have talent but no place to showcase it, do you?"
Of course, this was all said to appease Aiden. Reese's future child would have to rely on their own abilities and not just the family's resources.
Aiden finally relented after hearing Reese's words.
Malcolm saw that Grandpa's health needed more care, so he said to Jason, "Jason, since Grandpa is discharged, take him home to rest."
"Yes, Mr. Flynn."
Jason escorted Aiden out of the office, and Justin also left, leaving the couple some privacy. After all, they hadn't seen each other in a while and must have missed each other.
As soon as Justin closed the office door, Malcolm pulled Reese onto his lap, kissing her passionately, releasing all the pent-up emotions.
Neither of them was reserved, and the atmosphere in the office became quite intimate.
Pressing Reese down, Malcolm gazed at her intensely, his voice low and husky. "Honey, did you miss me?"
Reese's lips curled mischievously, and she hooked her leg around Malcolm's ankle, flipping him over with a forceful move. "Yeah, I prefer being on top."
Being underneath always felt stifling and uncomfortable.
Malcolm narrowed his eyes slightly and smiled suggestively. "Who likes being on top like you? Isn't it better to let me take care of you? You just need to lie back and enjoy."
"No need, I prefer doing things myself."
