Chapter 613 I Have Something to Ask You

"That's nuts. Could it be a glitch or something?"

"This is just too wild, it's blowing my mind."

The stock results left everyone in the room completely floored.

Even Stephen couldn't have predicted such a crazy turnaround.

The two stocks Reese picked shot up like rockets.

The guys who bet against Reese were totally speechless.

"This can't be real, no way..."

"Those two companies? Everyone knows they've been struggling for years. I even heard they were about to go under recently."

Reese smirked. "You guys don't keep up with the news, do you? There was a flood in Riverside District recently, and there wasn't enough disaster relief. None of your companies donated a dime, but these two 'nearly bankrupt' companies gave everything they had. In this age of the internet, people get moved by stuff like that. Your companies are doing great but didn't donate a cent, while these two, despite losing money, still gave. You think people wouldn't notice?"

"This..."

Everyone was stunned. They all knew that during the recent flood in Riverside District, hardly anyone donated supplies. People are pretty selfish these days; it's a big deal just to take care of yourself, let alone others.

Reese found their regretful faces amusing. "It's nice to add a cherry on top, but helping out in tough times leaves a lasting impression."

These two companies gave away all their assets, but in doing so, they carved out a new path for themselves.

No one expected that even the underdogs could rise to the top one day.

Before the results are in, anyone can win.

Jesse finally saw Reese's brilliance. She had a unique perspective and killer analytical skills, no wonder she made a name for herself a few years back.

He couldn't help but admire her. "No wonder you're a financial genius. I'm glad I hitched my wagon to the right star."

"Financial genius..."

"She's the financial genius who made waves a few years ago."

"How could it be a woman?"

"I thought it would be some old guy or at least a middle-aged dude. Never expected it to be a woman. This is just..."

"It's really mind-blowing. And she's so young."

"True. Probably no one in Atlanta would believe that this financial genius is a girl around twenty."

"From now on, we'll just buy whatever stocks she buys."

"Wishful thinking. You think she'd tell you what stocks she's buying?"

Once Reese's identity was out, everyone's attitude towards her flipped.

"Mrs. Flynn, got any tips for us?"

"Yeah, even a few small tricks would be awesome."

"I never thought Mrs. Flynn would be so impressive, becoming a financial mogul at such a young age. Just by looking at her, you can tell she's extraordinary."

The same folks who were mocking Reese earlier were now singing her praises.

If it were anyone else, they might have let it go to their head, but Reese was different. She'd seen it all, the highs and the lows, and stayed cool as a cucumber.

Reese wasn't paying attention to their flattery; she was focused on the bet. "Since the results are out, shouldn't you two honor your words?"

"This..."

"You must have cheated. There's no way you could win. We all know the state of those two companies. It's impossible for their stocks to suddenly surge."

Reese wasn't surprised by their reaction. People were always so sure of themselves until the results come in.

Their confidence made it hard for them to accept defeat.

But their denial didn't mean she was going to let it slide. She'd made it clear she wasn't a saint and wouldn't easily forgive anyone who crossed her.

Reese's gaze was icy as she addressed them, "If you think this was achieved through cheating, then you must think I'm some kind of wizard."

Besides, she had no need to cheat.

"If you didn't cheat, there's no way you could win."

"Right, you set us up on purpose."

Malcolm stood beside Reese, as cold as an iceberg, exuding a chilling aura. "If you keep saying that, you're just making fools of yourselves."

After learning Reese's true identity, everyone wanted to get on her good side. No one was going to back the other two.

"Exactly. How can a boss not keep their word?"

"So many people are watching. If this gets out, you'll be a laughingstock."

"If you can't even handle this, I doubt your company can run smoothly."

"Indeed, your reputation will tank!"

The two turned red with embarrassment, becoming the target of everyone's criticism.

Stephen chimed in, backing Reese, "Exactly. If that's the case, the Hawthorne Group will have to cancel our cooperation with your companies. We can't work with companies that lack integrity."

"Mr. Hawthorne, please don't. Our cooperation just started. If you pull out, it would waste a good project."

Stephen shot back, "We'd rather waste a project than work with someone untrustworthy. You're a big company boss, can't you handle a small bet?"

"I didn't say that," Afraid of losing Stephen's big deal, the person quickly changed their tune.

Stephen followed up. "If that's the case, then you can handle it."

The two had no choice. They never expected Reese to have such powerful backing. Not only was she a financial genius, but she also had a supportive husband and a prominent father.

With heads bowed, they reluctantly said, "Alright, as agreed, the money will soon be in Mrs. Flynn's account."

After the whole mess was over, Malcolm took Reese's hand. "Honey, let's go home. I have something to ask you."
