Chapter 617 Feeling Nauseous
Malcolm held Reese close, "Babe, you gotta trust me. I'm the one who's always gonna be there for you. You're more important to me than anything. Even if everyone else turns their back on you, I won't. I'll prove it over time."
Reese leaned into his chest, feeling his strong heartbeat, and nodded. "I know, you'll always be by my side. I trust you."
Malcolm reassured her, "So, just take it easy for now. Let me handle everything else."
Reese had been feeling a bit worn out lately but couldn't pinpoint why. "Yeah, there shouldn't be any issues coming up. If anything does, I'll let Calvin know."
"Sure, whatever you want, I'm with you," Malcolm said, his eyes full of affection as he gently ruffled her hair.
Reese had rested enough, and they were about to head out for dinner. She hadn't eaten much at lunch, and he wanted to make sure she had a good meal.
As they were deciding where to eat, Malcolm's phone rang. It was Aiden calling.
He tossed the car keys to Reese and got into the passenger seat. "Hey Grandpa, what's up?"
"You two come back for dinner tonight. I've had Clora prepare the meal," Aiden said.
Malcolm hesitated. "I was just about to take Reese out to eat."
Aiden insisted, "Don't worry, there's food Reese likes. Do you think I'd let your wife go hungry?"
Since Reese had saved Aiden last time, and after the whole Vincent and Everly mess, he had a clearer perspective.
In a way, there were losses and gains. He lost Vincent and Everly but gained Reese. Now, he completely trusted her. He wasn't young anymore and felt comfortable leaving the company to Reese and Malcolm.
Plus, Reese was already amazing. Together, they were a perfect match.
Malcolm looked at Reese, wanting her opinion.
Reese said, "Since Grandpa wants us to come back for dinner, let's go back."
Honestly, she didn't have much of an appetite lately. She didn't know why, but she just couldn't eat much these past few days.
Maybe it was the hot weather.
Malcolm smiled and couldn't help but praise her, "My wife is so understanding."
Driving back to the Flynn family, they noticed everyone was there today, even Everly, who Aiden had called back.
It was clear Aiden had called Everly back.
Probably, Aiden was thinking about his age and wanted to see all his children and grandchildren doing well. That would be a great comfort to him.
Reese didn't hold much of a grudge against Everly. She just felt that Everly had messed up before. But since Aiden had called her back, she had nothing to say. The main thing was to get Aiden's opinion.
As soon as Everly saw Malcolm, she hurried over. But unlike before, she didn't hug him. Instead, she greeted him properly, "Malcolm."
Malcolm's frown relaxed when he heard this. "You're back?"
"Yeah, it's good to be back," she replied.
Everly felt a bit lost thinking about how she had been alone all these years, with no one to care for her. Seeing the whole family together now was a luxury for her.
Seeing Everly crying, Alyssa couldn't help but say, "Hopefully, you've really changed and won't hurt anyone again. You should know, if you and Malcolm were meant to be, it would've happened a long time ago. No need to wait until now."
If someone really wanted to be with you, they would do everything to be a part of your world, not just watch from a distance and do nothing.
If that was the case, it only proved that it was not love.
This time, Everly didn't snap back at Alyssa like she usually did. Instead, she sincerely said, "Alyssa, I was wrong before. Please believe me. From now on, I know what I should and shouldn't do."
Saying this, Everly bowed to Alyssa and then apologized to Malcolm, Reese, and Aiden.
Aiden's eyes welled up with tears. "It's good that you can change. I was most afraid of you being stubborn. Look at Vincent, if he had listened to me earlier, he wouldn't have ended up like this."
Thinking of Vincent, Aiden felt heartbroken. He thought, if only Vincent could be here now, the Flynn family would be complete.
At that moment, Jason walked in and reported, "Mr. Aiden Flynn, Mr. Sebastian Hawthorne is here."
Alyssa's heart skipped a beat.
Aiden replied, "Since he's Reese's brother, invite him in."
"Yes, right away," Jason responded.
After being brought in by Jason, Sebastian placed the gift he brought on the table and politely spoke to Aiden, "Aiden, this is a small token of my appreciation. I'm sorry for the sudden visit. I hope you don't mind."
"It's fine. You're welcome here as Reese's brother. Clora, get Mr. Hawthorne a chair. We were just about to eat. You're just in time, join us for dinner," Aiden offered.
"Can I?" Sebastian was a bit delighted.
Alyssa glanced at Sebastian. "You came at dinner time just to get a free meal, didn't you?"
Sebastian scratched his head awkwardly, "You know it and still say it, that's not right."
"Isn't it obvious?" Alyssa asked.
Might as well have "I'm here for a free meal" written on his forehead.
Sebastian proudly raised his chin. "Anyway, Aiden has already invited me to dinner. Can you still kick me out?"
Alyssa pouted, "Am I that petty?"
"Right, you're not petty. You're very generous. Can I sit with you?" Sebastian took the opportunity to ask.
Reese and Malcolm stood by, unable to hold back their laughter. These two really were a pair of bickering friends, but it was quite entertaining to listen to their banter.
Aiden saw the two arguing non-stop and interrupted, "You two stop arguing and sit down."
Only then did they sit down.
Malcolm saw there were shrimp. Knowing Reese loved shrimp, he peeled some and put them in her bowl.
Just as Reese was about to eat, the smell made her feel nauseous.
Seeing this, Malcolm immediately got worried. "Babe, is your stomach still upset? I should take you to the hospital."
