Chapter 16 Oh No, My Makeup's Ruined
"Hey, by the way, I'll whip up another batch of meds for you after work tomorrow. Been tinkering with this one for a few days. If it does the trick, it might speed up your recovery even more."
Malcolm noticed her eyes lighting up like she just found buried treasure, and she was grinning from ear to ear.
It was his legs being shot, but Reese seemed more worried about it than he was.
Still, having his wife fuss over him felt pretty nice.
He put a hand on her shoulder, his handsome face close to hers, and raised an eyebrow with a smirk.
"Well, that's your call."
Reese gave herself a confident pat. "Leave it to me."
With that, Reese headed to the bathroom to run a bath for him, tossing in the medicinal herbs she had prepped. These were supposed to be great for his legs.
When she came back out, she moved behind Malcolm.
"I'll wheel you in for your bath."
"Are you gonna help me bathe?"
Reese's eye twitched. "Me, help you bathe?"
That didn't seem right. Men and women are different, right? Plus, it was just his legs that were messed up, not his hands.
But Malcolm didn't seem embarrassed at all. In fact, he acted like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"We're married. Isn't it normal for a wife to help her husband bathe?"
"Next time, okay? I still need to sterilize the needles, it's a whole process."
Reese's eyes darted around, a bit shy, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink.
Malcolm was just messing with her. If she was a bit shy, wasn't he, too?
"Alright, go ahead then."
Reese let out a sigh of relief and turned to leave, but Malcolm suddenly called her back.
"Aren't you gonna help me take off my pants?"
It was kinda tricky for him.
Reese quickly turned back and walked up to him, pressing down on his belt buckle. With a click, she unfastened the belt, then the zipper.
Her hands started to tremble for no reason, and her cheeks grew hot.
Malcolm watched her slender fingers trembling like crazy and suddenly grabbed her hand. Reese instinctively looked up and locked eyes with Malcolm's intense gaze, which seemed to be hiding some deep, complicated emotions.
His voice was deeper than usual. "I'll handle it."
Reese quickly pulled her hand back. Malcolm unzipped his pants, and Reese helped him pull them down. By the time she was done, sweat was beading on her forehead.
She raised her hand to wipe it, and her disguise came off on her hand. She was startled,' Oh no, my makeup's ruined.'
"I'll head out first. You go ahead and bathe."
With that, Reese hurriedly ran out.
Malcolm frowned. Why was she so flustered? Was taking off pants that nerve-wracking?
Once outside, Reese quickly grabbed a mirror to check. Sure enough, her makeup was a mess. She swiftly took out her makeup kit and touched it up, finally feeling relieved.
Every moment spent with Malcolm was truly nerve-wracking.
When Malcolm came out, she had already prepped the needles.
During the treatment, she was super cautious and serious because each acupuncture point had different effects and side effects.
If she messed up, the Flynn family would definitely not let it slide.
After finishing, she put everything back in place and asked him, "Do you feel any better?"
Malcolm tried to move a bit. Although there wasn't much progress, he felt somewhat better than before, at least with some sensations.
This made him very excited.
"I can feel something. Does that mean it's working?"
"Really? You can feel it?"
"Yeah."
Reese's face lit up with a smile. "That's awesome. It means it's working. I'll keep treating you like this. If all goes well, your legs should be able to touch the ground in a few days."
She wasn't just boasting; she was pretty confident in her medical skills.
Malcolm hadn't expected Reese's medical skills to be so top-notch. It seemed he had indeed married a capable wife.
