Chapter 522 Preferring to Keep a Low Profile

Louis kept nodding at Malcolm from the sidelines, clearly impressed. What made Malcolm stand out was his no-nonsense attitude; everything he said was spot-on and honest. He had the looks, background, and money—Everhart couldn't compete.

Giedon chimed in, "Yeah, I agree. Everything he says makes sense. No wonder he's one of us."

Meanwhile, Reese stifled a laugh. Malcolm usually had this commanding vibe that kept people at a distance. But he was unpredictable, adapting to whatever the situation needed.

Everhart was reckless, so Malcolm just matched his energy, not even trying to hide his sharpness.

Reese thought this was smart. Given Everhart's wild behavior, a little push from Malcolm wouldn't hurt. Sometimes people need a reality check.

Malcolm asked Reese, "What do you think, honey?"

"I think it's great. Let's go with your plan. After all the trouble he's caused, it's only fair to make him sweat a bit. Otherwise, Sebastian's car would be taken for nothing."

Everhart's anger flared. "You can't do this to me. If you do, I swear I won't say a word, and you'll never know the secret."

Reese shot him a disdainful look. "Then keep your secret."

With that, the three of them left. Giedon's people were now watching Everhart closely. He had no choice but to comply or risk getting hurt.

Giedon told his team, "Let the newcomers start their practice today."

"Yes, sir."

Hearing this, Everhart panicked. "Giedon, can you cut me some slack? Practice all you want, but leave me out of it."

Giedon found his reaction amusing. "If you knew you couldn't handle the consequences, why provoke Malcolm? He's not someone you can mess with. I can't help you."

Everhart thought there might be room for negotiation and quickly said, "They're gone now. Can we talk this out and maybe let it go?"

Giedon smiled, but his words sent a chill down Everhart's spine. "No, you offended Malcolm, which means you offended me. And you're from Nolan's side, so I can't let you go."

Everhart argued, "Reese is also from Nolan's side."

"That's different. Reese is my nephew's wife," Giedon replied firmly.

Everhart was speechless. "You're being unfair."

Giedon lifted his chin arrogantly. "Deal with it. Face the consequences. If you survive, remember not to challenge powerful people. It's not a fight where both lose; it's just you."

Everhart felt the impact deeply, like a finger pointing at his forehead, saying, "You're no match. Don't mess with the powerful; you'll lose."

In the end, Giedon kept his word to Malcolm and used Everhart as a punching bag for the new recruits.

Reese, Malcolm, and Louis quickly left the Harmony Alliance and got into a car. Nolan's territory was nearby, so they needed to move fast.

In the car, Louis said to Reese, "Reese, if Nolan finds out you hid Everhart right under his nose, he'll be furious."

"Isn't there a saying? The most dangerous place is the safest place," Reese replied.

She thought it fit perfectly. Nolan would never expect them to leave Everhart with Giedon.

Louis nodded. "Yeah, I think so too. You and Mr. Flynn are really smart."

Reflecting on recent events, Reese realized they had limited time to oversee the secret base, so she left it in Louis' capable hands. With Calvin still missing, the uncertainty weighed on her.

She felt a strong urge to investigate personally, especially regarding her grandmother's death.

"Louis, keep an eye on things for the next few days. I might not have time," Reese instructed.

Louis nodded. "Don't worry, Reese. I'll handle it."

"Thanks."

Malcolm turned to Reese, "I'll take care of Everhart. You should rest. I noticed one of your companies is about to sign an overseas contract. You should oversee it."

Reese was surprised. "You know a lot. I haven't even told you, and you already found out." She had underestimated Malcolm; he wasn't simple.

Malcolm explained, "I didn't investigate. I just heard a company was about to sign an overseas contract and guessed it was yours. In all of Atlanta, not many are expanding overseas."

It wasn't something just anyone could do.

He might not have known Reese's capabilities before, but now he was impressed. She had many skills yet to be discovered.

He was growing more fond of Reese, like a treasure full of surprises.

"Alright, if you put it that way, I get it," Reese said.

The company was under the name Brooks, not Reese. They rarely used her name to keep her identity hidden. She didn't like being in the spotlight, which is why the media had never interviewed her.

Reese planned to deal with Everhart first and then her grandmother's matter. Nolan was eyeing Everhart, and the longer it took, the messier things could get.

She rubbed her temples wearily, saying, "I'll go with you. Everhart's the type to cause more trouble."

Malcolm reached out, held Reese's hand, and pulled her close. "Don't you trust me?"
