Chapter 483: Fulfilling One's Own Wishes

After wrapping up business, Malcolm couldn't help but ask Reese, "How'd you get in here?"

Reese shrugged, "I walked in."

Justin, standing nearby, chuckled. Reese always had a way of making things sound simple.

Malcolm rolled his eyes, "That's not what I meant."

Reese stopped messing around, "Alright, I pulled some strings. There was a hiccup, but it's all sorted now."

Justin was about to back Reese up.

"Mr. Flynn, Mrs. Flynn's connections aren't just anyone. It's Rodolfo, you know, the new guy in charge."

"Yeah, I know." Malcolm wasn't that out of touch. But his wife knowing someone like Rodolfo? That was impressive.

Justin was practically buzzing, like he knew Rodolfo himself. He was just blown away by Reese's connections. Not everyone could know a big shot like that.

"Mrs. Flynn knows him, and I even heard Rodolfo say she's his benefactor."

Malcolm thought back to when Reese gave his grandpa an expensive gift someone had given her. She'd saved that person during a highway emergency. Maybe this was similar, but he needed to confirm it.

"Honey, did you save his life again?"

"No, Rodolfo's young and healthy. He was framed a few years ago, and I helped him out."

Malcolm got the gist, "So you helped him, and now he's in his position?"

"Yeah, something like that."

Reese never exaggerated; she was telling the truth.

Justin, not knowing this, couldn't help but admire her more.

"Mrs. Flynn is really something."

"No, it was just a coincidence, and it only happened once. I haven't done such good deeds since; it's not really my thing."

She often seemed cold and unapproachable, with a strong presence. Most people wouldn't peg her as the helpful type.

But Reese didn't care. She didn't need others to think she was capable. She didn't want people to have high expectations of her.

Just then, Rodolfo approached, politely saying, "Reese, it's getting late, and other department heads will be here soon."

Reese got the hint and didn't want to make things tough for him. If others found out, Rodolfo would be in hot water.

She replied, "Yeah, we've talked enough."

Malcolm felt a pang of reluctance seeing his wife leave.

"Honey, remember to think of me."

Reese waved but kept it professional in front of Rodolfo.

Rodolfo escorted Reese and Justin to the door, apologizing again to Reese.

"Reese, Elbert is young and immature. Because of his connection to me, he can be a bit arrogant, but he means no harm. Please don't hold it against him."

Reese knew Rodolfo didn't want her holding a grudge against Elbert and targeting him later.

But she wasn't one to overthink things.

"Don't worry, Mr. Knight. Today's issue is done, and there won't be any payback. Besides, this is our last visit here."

In a few days, once her plan kicked in, Malcolm would be out, and she wouldn't need to pull strings to see him anymore.

Rodolfo noticed the serious expression on Reese's face. Despite her confident demeanor, it unsettled him uneasy.

Rodolfo had seen a lot, but women like Reese were a rarity.

Women with such a strong presence were hard to come by these days. He wondered what Reese had been through, especially with those cold eyes that revealed nothing deeper.

He spoke up for Elbert because he knew she wasn't someone to mess with. If she wanted Elbert gone, it would be as easy as squashing a bug.

Rodolfo nodded slightly, "Of course, but if you ever need my help in the future, just let me know. I'll do my best for you."

"Thank you, Mr. Knight."

Reese appreciated Rodolfo's gratitude. Some people would betray you even after you saved them, but she let Elbert go because of Rodolfo.

"Take care, Reese."

Rodolfo watched Reese and Justin leave. Elbert came out with a sullen face.

"Uncle Knight, I don't want to leave. I finally got to this position with your help. Where am I supposed to go?"

Rodolfo glared at Elbert, "What do you think? If she finds out you're still here, I might lose my job."

Elbert was displeased, "Is it that serious? She just helped you once. We repaid the favor. If you don't want to help me, fine, but don't say that. Who does she think she is? She doesn't run all of Atlanta."

Rodolfo sighed, "Maybe she does have that kind of power. Just wait and see. I don't misjudge people."

Reese was clearly not a simple person; it couldn't be just that.

Elbert didn't believe it, "A woman with that much power? Uncle Knight, you must be joking."

"Women today are different from before. Who says women are inferior to men?"

Rodolfo thought there were many women better than men nowadays, so men had to work harder. Otherwise, it would be embarrassing to be inferior to women.

Elbert couldn't argue with Rodolfo's reasoning. It seemed his uncle was determined to see him leave.

But since Elbert's job had always been arranged by Rodolfo, he didn't hesitate to ask, "If you don't want me to work here, then find me another job."

Rodolfo's anger flared, "You expect me to do everything for you! Find it yourself. If you can't, then go hungry. I haven't even scolded you for the trouble you caused today, and you dare ask me for a job!"

Elbert could see Rodolfo didn't want to help him anymore, but he wasn't one to give up easily and he threatened, "If you don't help me find a job, I'll tell my sister."

"You... you bastardl!"

Rodolfo was furious but had no way to deal with Elbert.
