Chapter 426 You Can't Expose Me
He also wanted to see a house full of children and grandchildren. At his age, it was a regret not to have even seen a great-grandchild.
“Hmm, it sounds reliable. Well, you handle it. If you find someone suitable, introduce them to Everly. This girl really needs to find someone; she can't keep focusing on you all the time.”
Almost everyone in the Flynn family knew that Everly's heart had always been set on Malcolm. Even though she couldn't have him, she never thought about shifting her focus.
This kind of dedication was indeed pitiful.
Malcolm agreed and said, “I’ll arrange for someone to set it up for her in a couple of days.”
Thinking about finding a match for Everly, Aiden stopped being angry.
Everly was still driving at this time and was unaware that Malcolm and the others were planning to find her a boyfriend.
When she arrived at the Hawthorne Manor, she was about to go in but was stopped by a servant.
Everly told the servant, “Just say I’m from the Flynn family.”
Upon hearing the Flynn family, the servant had a complicated expression , recalling Malcolm’s visit earlier today.
Why have people from the Flynn family been coming around lately? Alexander was still bedridden because of Reese, needing assistance with everything, all because of them.
The servant didn’t show Everly any kindness. “Sorry, we don’t meet people from the Flynn family. Please leave.”
Everly had anticipated this outcome.
“Just go in and say, if he still wants to keep the Hawthorne family’s projects, let me in. Otherwise, when everything falls apart, don’t blame me for not warning you.”
She had kindly come to warn them and a servant dared to talk to her like this. They must have a death wish.
The servant hesitated for a long time but didn’t dare to take the risk. If the company was really affected, Mrs. Hawthorne would skin her alive.
“Then wait here for a moment.”
Saying this, the servant turned and went inside.
Soon, the servant came back out, her attitude significantly better than before.
“Ms. Flynn, please come in. Mrs. Hawthorne is waiting for you inside.”
Everly snorted coldly. “It should’ve been like this from the start. Don’t underestimate others in the future.”
The servant nodded awkwardly and stepped aside to let Everly in.
Everly strutted into the living room in her high heels, where Clara was sitting and drinking coffee.
“Mrs. Hawthorne, you really have leisure time, still drinking coffee here.”
Clara had heard that Everly was here to relay a message. But since she was from the Flynn family, she couldn't trust her. She had to see what was going on and she did not know if Malcolm and Reese had sent her to set a trap.
Feigning ignorance, she asked, “What brings Ms. Flynn to here?”
Everly sat down directly. “Mrs. Hawthorne, you probably don’t know yet, but your family’s business is about to be taken over by Reese. You still have the leisure to drink coffee at home. I’m truly impressed.”
Clara frowned, puzzled. “What do you mean by that? Who told you our business was being taken over by Reese?”
“If you don’t believe me, you can have someone check now and see if several of your projects are being investigated.”
Everly wasn’t too sure about Reese’s capabilities, but with Malcolm’s help, it couldn’t be too far off.
Clara was half-convinced. She believed Reese was capable of such things, having previously taken over Alexander’s projects. This could just be history repeating itself.
She turned to the servant and instructed, “Go and check if what she said is true.”
“Yes.”
The servant quickly went to check.
Clara also instructed another servant to pour coffee for Everly.
Everly felt much more at ease now. It seemed Clara believed her words. If it weren’t for wanting to bring down Reese, she wouldn’t have bothered to come.
She sipped her coffee, her posture arrogant and cold.
“Mrs. Hawthorne, do you believe me now? Reese definitely wants to compete with you in business, no doubt about it.”
Clara gritted her teeth in anger at the thought of Reese.
“That wretched girl, who does she think she is, and what does she take our Hawthorne family for?” Clara said.
“That’s why I’m here to help you. We have a common enemy,” Everly said.
Clara’s gaze turned complicated as she looked at Everly.
“What do you mean by that? I remember Reese is your sister-in-law.”
Everly thought of Reese and Malcolm’s intimate moments, the way they looked at each other, and she wished she could tear Reese apart.
She gritted her teeth, her eyes filled with coldness and jealousy.
“If she weren’t Malcolm's wife, I might not have thought of such a way to deal with her.”
Clara, no fool and experienced in the world, quickly understood her meaning.
“So, you like your brother.”
Everly snorted. “So what if I like him? He still married another woman.”
Clara now believed why Everly had come to inform her. Women, especially in such times, were most likely to lose their rationality, and once they did, it was easy to exploit them.
“In that case, we can indeed cooperate.”
Everly had already made up her mind. “I can help you monitor Reese and report her every move. But how to deal with her is your business.”
Clara nodded. “Agreed, as long as you can monitor Reese’s every move.”
“No problem, but I have one condition: you can’t expose me.”
Everly couldn’t let Malcolm know she was collaborating with the Hawthorne family; it wouldn’t benefit her in the future.
Clara understood that having an insider was advantageous for them.
“Agreed, any requests you have, we’ll meet them as long as we can.”
At this moment, the servant came over and whispered in Clara’s ear.
“It’s true, they’re being investigated. Reese seems to be preparing a plan. If they succeed, our Hawthorne family will be out of luck. Mrs. Hawthorne, you see Alexander is still incapacitated; maybe you should inform Stephen.”
Clara’s face was extremely grim. “What’s the use of telling Stephen? He’s still recovering in the hospital.”
The servant replied cautiously, “Then we can only call Nathaniel back.”
Clara had no choice. Alexander was bedridden. Stephen was in the hospital, and Sebastian was unreliable. If they relied on him, he might even defect to Reese.
The servant nodded. “I’ll notify him right away.”
Nathaniel Hawthorne received the call and, hearing about the family’s troubles, quickly agreed to drop everything and return immediately.
