Chapter 599 Want to Know the Reason

Sebastian felt that glimmer of hope and spun around. "Reese..."

Reese piped up, "Go tell Stephen I might see him, but if he's plotting against me, he's gonna regret it!"

Sebastian's eyes lit up. "So, you're saying yes?"

Reese didn't answer directly but reminded him, "Don't forget what you just said."

"Don't worry, I won't." Sebastian exchanged a knowing smile with her, feeling confident that Reese was softening up. His earlier begging wasn't for nothing.

Alyssa looked at Reese surpriedly.

She turned to Malcolm, "Malcolm, did I hear that right? Did Reese just agree?"

Malcolm shrugged, not surprised at all. Since Reese risked her neck for Sebastian last time, it was clear she was warming up to him.

Once Reese started accepting someone, it meant they were in luck. She'd do anything to make that person happy.

Even though she just turned Sebastian down, it was all because of the Hawthorne family.

If it weren't for them, she'd have agreed to Sebastian's little requests in a heartbeat.

Alyssa couldn't help but give Sebastian a thumbs up. "I gotta hand it to you. I've never seen anyone make Reese change her mind like that."

Sebastian smugly lifted his chin, "Don't you think marrying me is a great idea now?"

Alyssa's face turned red, and she shyly yelled at Sebastian, "Who wants to marry you? Stop talking nonsense in front of Malcolm and Reese!"

"What's the big deal in front of Reese? Besides, we'll be one big happy family soon, isn't that even better?" Sebastian thought it was a sweet deal.

Alyssa walked up to Reese and took her arm, "Reese, you gotta control Sebastian. He's driving me nuts with his wife and our marriage nonsense."

Reese asked her, "Didn't you promise him you'd marry him, like, twice?"

Alyssa felt a bit embarrassed, "I didn't mean it, and it was a special occasion."

Now she wanted to back out, but Reese, who always kept her word, wasn't going to side with Alyssa. "Since you promised, you gotta follow through. If you can't, then don't promise. It's between you two, not my problem."

Indeed, romance was a matter of two.

Malcolm saw that things were pretty much settled and didn't want to drag it out. "Alright, if you two are done, Alyssa, see Sebastian out."

Alyssa's eyes widened. "Malcolm, you want me to see him out? Can't he find his own way home?"

Sebastian jumped in, "I didn't drive. Took a cab here."

Alyssa shot him a look, "Yeah, right. Mr. Hawthorne from the fancy Hawthorne family took a cab? You expect me to buy that?"

Sebastian pointed outside. "Don't believe me? Come see for yourself."

With that, he grabbed Alyssa's hand and started pulling her outside, but she couldn't shake him off.

Watching them leave, Malcolm finally spoke up, "I bet it won't be long before they fall for each other."

Reese looked worried, "You should be concerned about their feelings. How could the Hawthorne family let Sebastian marry Alyssa? They're like oil and water."

Even though Reese wasn't a Flynn by blood, the Flynn family was her husband's. This protection only lasted as long as she and Malcolm were together. If things changed, it would be a whole different story.

Reese never thought it would actually happen one day.

Malcolm put his arm around Reese's shoulder to comfort her, "Babe, don't stress. I think Alyssa and Sebastian can handle it. If they love each other enough, they can get through anything and won't be torn apart by this stuff."

Reese sighed, "You make a good point."

Malcolm pulled Reese into his arms and kissed her forehead, "Babe, no matter what, I got your back. It's gonna be okay."

"Yeah, I know, babe." Reese was super grateful to Malcolm. Without him, even though she could've managed on her own, it would've been way tougher and not as smooth.

Having someone by her side was way different from going solo.

Malcolm couldn't help but be curious about Alyssa and Sebastian's earlier interaction. "I wonder how those two are doing now."

"I bet it's hilarious. They act like they're at each other's throats when they're together." Just thinking about their earlier antics, Reese felt they were quite the pair.

Right then, Alyssa was grudgingly driving Sebastian to the Hawthorne place.

Seeing Alyssa's annoyed face, Sebastian couldn't help but frown, "I'm just asking for a ride. No need to be so mad."

Alyssa huffed, "Mr. Hawthorne, why didn't you drive yourself? Why'd you take a cab?"

"I was in a rush, and a cab was quicker." He couldn't exactly say he didn't drive on purpose so she'd have to give him a lift.

Alyssa didn't want to argue anymore. She was already on the way to drop him off.

She remembered how Sebastian had been going on about marrying her lately, which had become a bit of a sore spot. "Sebastian, a serious question. Do you really want to marry me?"

Sebastian nodded earnestly, "Is that a problem?"

"It's just weird. We barely know each other, and we haven't even dated. Yet you want to marry me. Anyone would think that's nuts."

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, "Wanna know why?"
