Chapter 591 Shut Up

The crowd was kinda shocked but brimming with excitement.

"Man, I've never seen a bet like this before. It's kinda wild."

"But isn't Alyssa jumping the gun here?"

"What's the fuss? I think Mr. Hawthorne seems solid. Look at my friend Aria, she was super picky and ended up with a dude who turned out to be a fake rich guy. Now she's got a kid with someone else and has to work to help her husband pay off debts."

"Yeah, marriages are shaky these days. Better to pick someone on your level."

Alyssa was totally fed up listening to their chatter. 'Who are these people? They don't bother with strategies, but when it comes to gossip, they're pros.'

Sebastian wasn't fazed at all. He whipped out his phone and fired up the game. "Alright, let's do this. Just remember what you said."

He knew Alyssa wouldn't back down. She cared too much about her rep, especially as the boss with everyone watching. No way she'd let herself get shown up.

All he had to do was make sure he could beat her.

Everyone else had already grabbed their seats, ready for the show. The studio had been open forever, and nothing this juicy had ever happened.

Sebastian picked a mage character, while Alyssa went with an assassin. These two heroes were always at each other's throats.

Plus, mages usually had a tough time in fights.

"Why do I feel like Mr. Hawthorne's gonna lose this one?"

"Yeah, Alyssa's using her best hero."

Early on, they didn't clash much, but by mid-game, things got heated. Alyssa didn't expect Sebastian to be so quick on his feet; he dodged her skills like a pro.

Sebastian's moves really threw Alyssa off. She thought he was just average, but he was actually pretty good.

While Alyssa was distracted, Sebastian snuck up behind her and caught her off guard.

Alyssa didn't even have time to react and got taken out instantly.

The crowd shook their heads.

"It's over, Alyssa's gonna lose."

"No way, how could Alyssa lose? She's been killing it lately. None of us can beat her."

"Yeah, no one."

"Guess that means Mr. Hawthorne's even better."

Seeing herself get wrecked by Sebastian so many times, Alyssa tried to stay cool, but didn't make it.

In the end, no surprise, Alyssa lost.

She was in shock.

Sebastian turned off the game and waved his hand in front of the stunned Alyssa. "What's on your mind?"

"How did you win?" Alyssa's eyes were blank, missing the spark from before, and she looked kinda lost.

Sebastian chuckled, "I won, isn't that normal?"

"No, how could you win?" She'd been deep into esports for years, while Sebastian was never known to be a gamer. How could a noob beat her? It was embarrassing.

Sebastian saw her confused and shocked look and decided to spill the beans. "Don't be so shocked. Back in college, I was really into this game for a while and played it a lot. Later, I got bored and stopped playing for years."

He'd only recently heard that Alyssa was into this game, so he downloaded it again and practiced with some folks.

Alyssa didn't see that coming.

She snapped out of it, "Sebastian, you hid it so well."

If she'd known earlier that Sebastian had such mad skills and quick reflexes, she wouldn't have underestimated him. Now she had lost just like that.

She didn't even have time to react and lost.

Sebastian tried to comfort her, "Look at it this way, I'm pretty good at this. If you marry me, I can teach you more."

Alyssa wasn't having it, "Who needs you to teach? Can't Reese teach me?"

Reese's skills were on par with pro players. She could confidently say that if Reese returned to the esports scene, it would cause a huge stir and the top teams would be fighting to recruit her.

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, not put off by Alyssa's attitude. "Think about it, you and Reese aren't directly related by blood and she's usually so busy. How would she have time to teach you? But with me, it's different. I can tell Reese that you're her future sister-in-law and she should take care of you."

Alyssa listened to Sebastian's serious tone.

Her employees also started to chime in for Sebastian.

"Yeah, Alyssa, I think Mr. Hawthorne is great and he's so handsome. It's a good choice for you."

"Alyssa, you said it yourself, if he wins, you'll marry him. We're all waiting for your wedding invite."

"Exactly, our studio hasn't been this lively in a long time. Alyssa, I think you should just agree."

Alyssa was flustered by their urging. She was usually bold and rarely shy, but now her cheeks were flushed.

She stiffened her neck and shouted at them. "Are you my employees or his? Do you want him to pay your salaries in the future?"

At the mention of salaries, the few who were making a fuss immediately quieted down.

Sebastian walked up to Alyssa and pulled her into his arms. "Honey, you can't back out now."

Alyssa tried to push him away, but Sebastian didn't budge.

She said awkwardly, "Let go of me, can't you see everyone is watching?"

"It doesn't matter, are you shy?" Sebastian was always straightforward.

Alyssa was stunned.

At that moment, Sebastian got a call and finally let go of Alyssa. "I need to take this call."

Alyssa told him, "You should go back. I still have work to do."

Sebastian left the studio with his phone.

As soon as Sebastian left, the staff started making a fuss again.

"Alyssa..."

"Shut up, all of you." Alyssa got up and walked to her office, her mind in a complete mess.
