Chapter 474 Seeking Allies
She was nervous because if something really went wrong, Reese would definitely rat her out to Malcolm. By then, Malcolm would never forgive her.
Vincent had other things to attend to and didn't want to keep discussing these matters with Everly. "Alright, the rest is up to you."
After Vincent left, he quickly headed to Virgil Newman's company. Virgil was one of the most powerful figures in all of Atlanta. Although he couldn't compare to the Flynn family, he had a high reputation in the industry. However, he had some bad blood with the Flynn family, and their relationship wasn't good. Vincent could use this opportunity to get his help.
When Vincent found Virgil, Virgil initially didn't want to see anyone from the Flynn family. After all, the Flynn Group was his biggest competitor, and Malcolm had once snatched an order from him. Seeing anyone from the Flynn family now just made him angry.
He instructed his assistant to decline Vincent's request for a meeting.
The assistant went down to relay the message to Vincent. "Mr. Flynn, I'm sorry, but Mr. Newman won't see you. As for the reason, you should already know."
The Flynn Group was currently in the spotlight, and no one wanted to be associated with them and risk getting dragged down. This was no small matter.
The entire industry awaited the Flynn Group's downfall, eager to witness the drama unfold.
At this moment, Virgil was even more reluctant to have any dealings with the Flynn Group.
Vincent wasn't surprised by the refusal; he had expected as much. If Virgil had agreed, Vincent would have had to carefully consider his motives.
However, Vincent was determined to accomplish his goal today.
Vincent said, "Please tell Mr. Newman that I'm here to propose a deal that guarantees him a profit. Just give me five minutes."
The assistant hesitated. If he went back to relay the message, he might get scolded, and he didn't want that. "Mr. Flynn, I think it's best to let it go. You should be more aware of Mr. Newman's attitude towards the Flynn family than I am."
Vincent pulled out some cash from his bag and handed it to the assistant. "Help me out."
In this world, there was no problem that money couldn't solve. If there was, it just meant you hadn't offered enough money.
The assistant saw the money and realized that Vincent was being quite generous. It was just a matter of passing on a message; he was given so much money.
However, he couldn't appear too eager for the money. If Virgil found out, he would definitely be fired. Virgil took this very seriously, fearing that external bribes could affect the company.
Feigning reluctance, the assistant accepted the money. "Alright, seeing how sincere you are, Mr. Flynn, I'll reluctantly pass on the message. But I can't guarantee the outcome."
Vincent believed that if the assistant relayed the message, there wouldn't be a significant issue. No one would refuse profit, especially when it was being handed to them.
Hence, the assistant returned and informed Virgil, "Mr. Newman, I believe Mr. Flynn is genuinely sincere. Why don't we give him a chance? He said it would only take five minutes, and he promises to make you satisfied. He also mentioned a win-win cooperation."
Virgil was intrigued. "Win-win cooperation? Is he out of his mind? Our company has had conflicts with the Flynn Group. How could there be any win-win situation? Unless the Flynn Group disappears from Atlanta, which is obviously impossible."
The assistant shared some recent news with Virgil. "I heard that a few days ago, Vincent almost took over as the CEO of the Flynn Group. If it weren't for some unexpected events, he might be the president now."
Virgil immediately picked up on the internal strife and became even more gleeful. "So, it seems the Flynn family is having internal conflicts. I knew it. The Flynn family isn't just Malcolm. One person can't control the entire Flynn Group while the other is stuck in a pharmacy. Anyone would be unhappy with that."
The assistant, not wanting to take the money for nothing, continued to persuade Virgil. "Yes, and if it really benefits us, I think we should meet him. We have nothing to lose."
After much hesitation, Virgil finally agreed. "Alright, let him come up."
The assistant promptly replied, "I'll go get him now."
Soon, Vincent was brought into Virgil's office by the assistant. Initially, Virgil didn't show much warmth towards Vincent. While he wasn't outright hostile, he wasn't friendly either—just indifferent.
Vincent wasn't one to fuss over such details. As long as he achieved his goal, he could ignore the cold shoulder.
The assistant felt a bit awkward, having accepted Vincent's money. He said to Vincent, "Mr. Flynn, please have a seat."
After Vincent sat down, Virgil instructed the assistant, "Go make us some coffee."
The assistant said, "Yes, Mr. Newman."
After the assistant left the office, Virgil got straight to the point. "What brings you here, Mr. Flynn?"
Vincent uttered, "Mr. Newman, you should be aware of the current situation with the Flynn family. I want to become the CEO of the Flynn Group, but I've encountered some issues and need your help."
Virgil couldn't help but laugh mockingly. "Mr. Flynn, are you out of your mind? Why should I help you?"
Even companies without grievances against the Flynn family, let alone those that with, wouldn't assist the Flynn Group at this time.
The Flynn Group was no longer the hot commodity it once was. It had many problems, and anyone who got involved would be in trouble.
Vincent had already planned for this. Faced with Virgil's mockery and refusal, he didn't back down. "Mr. Newman, don't be hasty. I'm here with an offer. If you help me, once I succeed, the Flynn Group will share some of its projects with you, with profits in the billions. How about that?"
Virgil's eyes lit up at the mention of money. Even ordinary people are tempted by money, let alone businessmen. "Are you sure?"
Vincent knew Virgil would be swayed. With such a lucrative project, who wouldn't be tempted?
Vincent replied confidently, "If you don't believe me, we can sign a contract to solidify my commitment. I also have assets under my name. If I don't deliver, you can take my assets. It may not be substantial, but it's a guarantee. How about that?"
