Chapter 581 Is That Reese?

Malcolm smirked, "Whatever, man. We didn't beg you. If you wanna apologize, do it. If not, whatever. As for Mr. Sebastian Hawthorne, you can go find him yourselves."

"You..." Alexander was about to lose it. "You dragged Sebastian to this dump, used him, and now he's missing. You should be responsible for him. But now, you wanna dump it on us. How can you be so shameless?"

Alyssa had had enough of Alexander. Seeing him get chewed out by everyone and thinking about Reese's situation made her even angrier. "Shameless? Are you talking about yourself? Plus, you don't even acknowledge Reese as your family. Don't you feel any shame?"

Malcolm pulled Alyssa close. "Alyssa, don't waste your breath on him. If they don't wanna apologize to Reese, we don't need to waste our time. Once we find Reese, we're done with the Hawthorne family."

Alyssa nodded seriously. "Exactly. Reese is tough, she'll be fine. But some people, well, that's a different story."

No one on Malcolm's side paid any more attention to Alexander, whose face turned pale like he was being shunned.

An assistant stepped up and whispered, "Mr. Alexander Hawthorne, we need to think this through. Finding Mr. Sebastian Hawthorne is the priority. Otherwise, you won't be able to explain to Mr. Stephen Hawthorne."

Alexander raised his hand and smacked the assistant on the head. "Isn't that obvious? If you get it, do you think I don't?"

After thinking it over, he decided to rescue Sebastian first. He grudgingly approached Malcolm. "Fine, I agree. Can you help me track Sebastian now?"

Malcolm looked at Calvin. They'd need his skills for the search.

Calvin stayed silent, glaring at Alexander. He wasn't gonna budge until his demands were met. "Fine, it's all my fault. I promise, once we rescue Reese, I'll make sure everyone in the Hawthorne family apologizes to her. Happy now?"

The situation hit a deadlock, and Alexander reluctantly agreed under Calvin's stern gaze.

Even though he sounded annoyed, Alexander was known to keep his promises.

Satisfied, Calvin pulled out his prized laptop.

Sebastian had a tracker in one of his molars, a high-tech gadget that wasn't affected by magnetic fields.

Because of this, the signals it sent out were different from regular trackers, making it hard to pick up with standard software.

Calvin had his own exceptional skills, which had helped him support Reese for so many years. "There ain't a person or piece of info in this world I can't find."

Calvin loved to say that. But this time, he looked like he hit a real snag, his face showing signs of struggle.

Everyone stood around him, holding their breath.

"Got it!"

Finally, after a while, they picked up the tracker's signal.

"The red dot's still moving. Can we figure out where they're headed?" Malcolm stared at the screen, the moving red dot making him more anxious, his usual coolness slipping away.

Nobody said a word. The area was huge and interconnected; one wrong move could mess everything up.

No one thought it would come to this.

"They've stopped." Just when everyone was about to lose hope, Calvin spoke up, excited.

The spot where the red dot stopped looked familiar. Alexander, who had been shoved to the back, suddenly perked up.

"This place isn't far, just a few miles away." Saying that, Alexander grabbed his car keys, ready to head out solo to find Sebastian.

He noticed the signal on the computer was weak. The tracker's signal was usually stable.

That left only one possibility with the weakening signal. He didn't know what Sebastian had been through and was seriously worried.

"Hold up!" Malcolm stopped him. "I'm coming with you."

Malcolm got where Alexander was coming from; he felt the same way. "That Nolan guy is super sneaky. I've dealt with him before. If you go alone, you might not come back."

Nolan was no joke; he wouldn't have caused such a mess otherwise. Plus, as a fugitive, he might be desperate.

He was not only sneaky but also full of tricks. With two people already missing, Malcolm couldn't risk losing anyone else, especially if something happened to Alexander, it would just make things worse.

Malcolm said, " You all stay here and keep an eye on the search team. If there's any news about Reese, let me know right away."

Alexander wanted to find an excuse to refuse, but Malcolm had already made up his mind.

He told Justin and the others to stay put and made sure everything was set.

With no reason left to argue, Alexander and Malcolm headed out one after the other.

Everyone watched them leave, hoping they'd both come back safe.

Relying on their sharp memory, Malcolm and Alexander found the spot the tracker pointed to.

The area was a wreck thanks to a recent earthquake. The two of them carefully searched for Nolan in their car.

"Hey, is that him?" Alexander pointed to a distant, blurry figure. The build looked like Nolan's.

More importantly, there was someone else with him. Judging by their posture, the person seemed uncomfortable, leaning heavily on the other.

This scene was super creepy in such a desolate place, making them even more certain.

"Let's go, check it out." Malcolm's eyes lit up with hope as he drove towards the figure.

As they got closer, the figure became clearer. It was Nolan!

Hearing the car engine, Nolan grabbed Sebastian and started running, but he couldn't outrun cars. They were soon caught up.

"Nolan, put Sebastian down and I might let you go!" At this close distance, Alexander could clearly see the bloodstains on Sebastian. "Sebastian, you okay?"

Luckily, Sebastian was conscious, though he looked weak. He shook his head and tried to smile to reassure Alexander. "Let me go? Do you think I'm a kid?"

Nolan had already accepted the worst scenario of death when he decided to do this. Such threats were useless to him.

Seeing no chance of escape, he pulled Sebastian in front of him, pressing a sharp knife against his neck. "I warn you, back off. Don't follow me, or I don't know what I'll do."

As he spoke, he pressed the knife harder into Sebastian's neck, causing blood to flow immediately.

However, Sebastian only furrowed his brows and didn't cry out, showing more courage than ever before.

This scene made Malcolm somewhat satisfied, reducing his dissatisfaction with Sebastian.

"Nolan, I advise you not to be stubborn." Malcolm said in a deep voice.

Nolan was unmoved by his threat, continuously shouting for them to back off, never letting the knife leave Sebastian's neck.

"Sebastian, did you know? Reese came to find you herself." Seeing the situation, Malcolm had no choice but to use this tactic. He shifted his focus to Sebastian. "She went into the tunnel alone to look for you. Unfortunately, there was an earthquake and now she's trapped underneath, unfound yet."

The moment Sebastian heard Reese's name, his lifeless eyes lit up with excitement.

Hearing that Reese was still unfound, his eyes filled with madness. "You..."

"Shut up." Alexander didn't want Sebastian to know this news and was about to scold Malcolm but was interrupted.

Reluctantly, he followed Malcolm's gaze.

Due to the distraction, Nolan's attention was entirely on them and he seemed to relax.

This moment of relaxation gave Sebastian an opening. Fueled by worry and anger, he found a surge of strength.

Sebastian stomped hard on Nolan's foot. In pain, Nolan loosened his grip on the knife, giving Sebastian the chance to break free.

"Stay back, I wanna deal with this bastard myself!" Sebastian yelled, landing a punch square on Nolan's face. "It's all your fault, you piece of crap! If it weren't for you, Reese wouldn't be in this mess!"

Before he finished speaking, he threw another punch at Nolan.

Nolan, momentarily stunned, quickly snapped back and dodged Sebastian's second punch in time, and Sebastian, using too much force, almost fell, giving Nolan another chance.

"Sebastian, you're too naive to take me on." Nolan was about to stab him with the knife when ,Alexander and Malcolm, one grabbed the knife while the other landed a solid punch on Nolan.

Despite Nolan's strength, he was eventually overpowered.

Alexander questioned, "Tell us, where's Sofia's grandmother?"

The three men in front of Nolan looked ready to kill him, but they needed him alive for now.

"In an abandoned warehouse ten miles ahead." Nolan said, resigining himself to his defeat.

Calvin, who had been monitoring the situation, immediately informed Sofia of the location, hoping it wasn't too late.

"Sebastian, can't you just follow orders for once?" Malcolm's relief from the good news was quickly replaced by Alexander's angry voice.

He impatiently looked to the side, seeing Sebastian, covered in wounds, walking towards him.

"Take me to find Reese." Sebastian's tone was unyielding.

"No, you need to go to the hospital now." To Alexander, Sebastian was the priority, and he wouldn't let him take risks while injured.

But this time, Sebastian was resolute, staring at Malcolm with determined eyes.

"Fine." With no other choice, Malcolm agreed.

He knew that if Reese found out Sebastian wasn't there, she'd worry. It was better to keep him close.

Alexander, frustrated but helpless, followed them.

Otherwise, the two anxious guys who were about to find Reese might leave him behind.

"Did they find Sofia's grandmother?" Returning to the collapsed tunnel, Malcolm asked Calvin.

Calvin, staring at the computer screen showing drone footage, replied flatly, "Yeah. She's dead."

Grief clouded everyone's face.

"Is that Reese?" Suddenly, a familiar figure appeared on the drone footage, and Calvin exclaimed in surprise.

Malcolm glanced at the screen and immediately headed in that direction.

Sebastian and the others followed closely.
