Chapter 399 Who Sent All of You Here
Reese stood there. If these men manage to disturb even a single hair on her head, it would be a testament to their skill.
The man in the cap chuckled even more at Reese's apparent resignation.
"Look at this girl, knowing she can't escape, might as well cooperate. Maybe she's been in this line of work before."
His companions joined in the laughter, oblivious to Reese's chilling gaze and her aura expanding with each passing moment.
The man in the cap led the banter, "Who's going first? I'll pick this one, the aloof beauty. Most satisfying conquest."
Two bald men eagerly raised their hands, "I want her too. She's too pretty to resist."
Sophia, now trembling with fear, began pleading with the men through tears.
"Please, can't you spare us? We'll give you money if you want."
The man holding Sophia reached out and caressed her cheek, emitting a lecherous chuckle.
"This skin feels really nice."
Sophia felt a shiver run down her spine, her skin crawling with revulsion. "Don't touch me!" she screamed.
Reese remained composed, her cool gaze sweeping over each leering man as she uttered a sentence that shocked them all.
"How about this? You let her go, and I'll play with you."
Sophia was stunned. "Reese..."
But Reese offered Sophia a faint smile. "It's okay."
"How can it be okay? This is all my fault; I've dragged you into this. If I hadn't listened to those people and called you, we wouldn't be in this mess. Now we're both trapped!"
Sophia burst out, consumed by guilt. She hadn't imagined Reese would sacrifice herself for her. Reflecting on her cowardice earlier, selling out Reese to save herself, Sophia wanted to smack herself.
Don't worry, this has nothing to do with you. It's my problem, and they're after me, Reese assured her.
The man in the duckbill hat chuckled. "I didn't expect to negotiate on this kind of thing. Alright, since you seem willing to play along, we'll let her go for now. But she has to wait until we're done. Otherwise, she'll run off and call the cops."
Reese glanced sideways. "Can you at least tell me who sent you?"
"We can't tell you that. If we do, you'll go to the cops and we won't get paid. We'll be in trouble, the man replied, his comrades growing impatient.
"Boss, let's do it, it's getting late."
"Come on, who's first?"
As those men cracked their knuckles, each of them closing in on Reese with their repulsive, leering gazes, Sophia grew frantic.
"Reese Brooks, Reese Brooks, what do we do?"
With so many of them, how could Reese possibly survive? But why wasn't she panicking at all? Had she resigned herself to fate since she knew there was no escape?
Reese arched an eyebrow, a cold, steely air emanating from her eyes.
Are you sure you all want to come at me together?
The man in the duckbill hat hadn't quite grasped Reese's underlying message yet and nodded eagerly.
"Of course, all at once. Taking turns would be a waste of time."
Reese nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, I agree. One by one would be time-consuming."
With that, Reese's eyes narrowed, a glint of deadly seriousness flashing through them. In one swift motion, Reese pivoted and aimed a kick at the man who had held the knife to her waist moments ago. He cried out in pain as he fell to the ground, and only then did the others realize the danger they were in.
Seeing his man being beaten, the man who was wearing a cap threw it aside, and flew into a fit of rage.
"This wretched woman still dares to fight back! Brothers, get her! Don't be gentle, just make sure she's alive in the end!"
With those words, the others rushed at Reese, Sophia's screams echoing around, but she was helpless. Her phone had already been confiscated by the men.
Sophia looked around frantically for something, anything, that could help Reese. After finally picking up a stick, her hands trembling with fear, she mustered her courage and, teeth gritted, charged into the fray.
I'll kill you! I'll kill all of you! You bunch of villains!
Seeing Sophia charge in, Reese frowned and shouted at her, "What are you doing here? Go back!"
"I can't just stand by and watch you alone."
Despite her timidity, Sophia was fiercely loyal.
Reese's eyes narrowed as she spotted a man behind Sophia wielding a knife, poised to strike. She raised her voice.
"Look out!"
But Sophia had already turned, and it was almost too late. Reese swiftly hurled the stick at the attacker, then leapt forward, using the nearby man's shoulder as a foothold to deliver a powerful kick.
Sophia was nearly scared out of her wits, but Reese, fearing for her safety, pulled her close.
Reese asked Sophia with worries, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Sophia's lips quivered; her eyes wide with shock.
Reese still had a few adversaries left to deal with. She turned to Sophia and instructed her firmly, "Go over there and wait for me. Take this. If anyone dares to approach, stab them without hesitation."
With that, Reese handed Sophia a knife. Sophia almost dropped it in fear upon seeing the blade.
"I-I can't."
"If you can't, then you'll be in real trouble. Hurry up and take it."
Resolute, Reese firmly gave the knife into Sophia's trembling hand.
The man in the duckbill cap lay on the ground, groaning in pain. He hadn't expected Reese to be so skilled. No wonder she had shown no fear earlier.
Most people would have been paralyzed with terror, but Reese was clearly different.
As another man attempted to sneak up on Reese, she sensed his presence and swiftly sidestepped, grabbing his arm and delivering a powerful kick.
The man fell to the ground and didn't move.
Sophia stood by, utterly stunned. Was this even a woman? No, this was more like a superhero.
The ground was a mess, and these people were knocked down by Reese and couldn't get up. There was a coldness in Reese's eyes as she walked up to the man in the duck-billed cap, squatted down slowly, and suddenly grabbed his neck, her voice icy, "Who sent you?"
The man in the duck-billed cap now noticed Reese's gaze, and his pupils were trembling.
"It's a woman named Spencer. She told us to lure you out and let our brothers play with you, then take some photos and send them to her."
Reese narrowed her eyes, quickly figuring out who this Spencer woman was. Besides Natalie Spencer, who else could it be?
Reese asked again, "How much did she pay you?"
"One hundred thousand."
Reese's lips curled up, but her face was grim.
She scoffed, "She's generous, but she only offered a hundred grand for my photo. So here's the deal: I'll give you one hundred and fifty grand, and you give her exactly what she asked for. Got it?"
