Chapter 434 Imminent Peril

Calvin was still worried something might go wrong and reminded Reese in advance. "Reese, as per usual. If anything happens, you go first. Don't worry about me."

Reese almost smacked him on the back of the head. "What nonsense are you talking about? Even if we encounter danger, we can abandon Everhart, but not you."

Everhart was only saved within her abilities. If it was beyond her abilities, she wouldn't insist.

Calvin was very happy to hear that. "I knew I was the most important to you."

Reese admitted it. "Of course, you're different from Everhart. You're my brother in arms. We're family."

As they got closer to their destination, the terrain became more complex, seemingly endless, giving a sense of unease.

Calvin slowed down and asked Reese uncertainly, "Reese, is this really the place? Should we call Louis to confirm? Everhart might have given us the wrong address."

"No, it looks like the kind of place Everhart would choose." Reese was certain. Based on Everhart's cautious personality, he wouldn't take any risks.

Calvin had no choice but to keep driving. Finally, they saw a house ahead, and he felt relieved.

"I thought there wasn't a single house here. This place is so creepy. If you don't have a good memory, you might not find it. Reese, did you remember the way we came?" Calvin asked.

Calvin knew Reese's memory was far superior to an average person's. She could remember many things at a glance, which was something Calvin couldn't surpass.

Reese nodded. "Don't worry, I'm probably more accurate than your GPS."

Calvin didn't doubt that at all.

After getting out of the car, they walked toward the cabin. Calvin knocked on the door, but there was no response. They exchanged glances.

Reese spoke first, "It's Reese."

The door opened, and Everhart, looking disheveled, almost burst into tears upon seeing Reese.

"Reese..." Everhart wanted to open his arms to hug Reese, but Calvin blocked him with his arm.

"Everhart, stop. Don't touch Reese in such a state. She has a cleanliness obsession." Calvin reminded.

Everhart didn't mind. For him, Reese appearing here was already a miracle, and he didn't dare to hope for more.

"Reese, you didn't see Nolan's people on your way here, did you?" Everhart asked.

Reese shook her head. "Not yet, but I don't know if we will later. Hiding here isn't a solution. You know Nolan's connections. Finding someone isn't hard for him unless you can change your appearance instantly."

Everhart's heart sank at the thought of Nolan. He was frustrated and punched the wall, showing his unwillingness.

"I risked my life for him several times. I saved his life multiple times. Now, he wants to kill me just because of some money. By the way, Reese, do you know who framed me?" Everhart asked.

"Yes, my husband." Reese admitted frankly.

Thinking of Malcolm made Everhart grind his teeth in anger. "So, why did your husband do this to me? I have no grudge against him."

Reese raised an eyebrow. "You really don't know why?"

Everhart looked embarrassed, knowing very well what he had done to Reese before.

Calvin checked the time and urged, "We should get going."

Reese also thought it wasn't safe to stay here. If Nolan's people caught up, it wouldn't be easy to escape.

After getting in the car, Calvin was about to start the engine when Reese's phone rang. It was Malcolm.

Reese wondered why he was calling at this time but chose to answer.

Before she could speak, Malcolm's anxious voice came through.

"You need to leave by another route immediately. Nolan's people are almost there," he said.

Reese was surprised. "How do you know I'm here?"

"Now's not the time for that. Just leave. I'll send someone to hold off Nolan's subordinates." Malcolm replied.

Malcolm's voice was urgent, and Reese knew the situation was critical.

She told Calvin, "Drive faster!"

Malcolm said on the phone, "You can't take the same route back. They're already there."

Calvin asked, "If we don't take the same route, where do we go? We don't know the way here."

He thought it was a miracle they could return the same way, let alone find a new route, which seemed almost impossible.

Malcolm said, "You have no other choice. If you return the same way, you'll run into Nolan's subordinates."

Reese asked, "Do they have many people?"

Malcolm's voice suddenly calmed. "Not many, just about fifty."

Calvin was shocked. "What! Let's find a new route quickly."

He wanted to rely on GPS but found there was no signal. Calvin turned to Reese. "Reese, it's up to you."

Reese, a computer expert, could not only disable these communication devices but also restore the signal instantly. "Okay."

Reese opened the laptop she had prepared, her fingers flying over the keyboard with intense focus.

Then she told Calvin, "Drive east for 300 meters, then turn right."

Calvin nodded. "Got it."

Just as Calvin started the car, Nolan's people began following them. Everhart panicked. "They're catching up."

"I'm not blind, I can see," Calvin added.

Calvin quickly started the car, and it shot forward like an arrow.

Nolan's subordinates followed closely.

Calvin's driving skills were not as good as Reese's, but not too far off. The main problem was their unfamiliarity with the area.

He wished he could be the one handling the computer while Reese drove. Then he wouldn't worry about being caught. If Reese drove, they would only see her taillights.

Calvin was anxious and tense because the pursuers were too close, giving him no chance to escape. Seeing the road ahead ending, he broke into a sweat. "Reese, hurry, where do we go?"
