Chapter 574 Lost Track
Sofia rolled up to the spot Nolan told her about, and it was a ghost town. Outta nowhere, two dudes grabbed her shoulders, making her wanna fight back.
A male voice croaked, "If you wanna see your grandma again, don't move!"
Sofia froze, her whole body on edge. "What did you do to my grandma?"
The male voice sounded again, "If you wanna see her, you gotta come with us."
Fear bubbled up inside Sofia. "Where are you taking me?"
"If you wanna see your grandma, follow us. And strip off your clothes and jewelry." These guys were definitely ready for this.
Sofia had no clue Malcolm and his crew had slapped a tracker on her. Thinking about her grandma, she knew if she didn't go, her grandma might not make it.
With her grandma's condition, there was no time to waste.
No matter how scared she was, she had to go.
Sofia asked the guys, "If you want me to change, at least give me something to put on. Or do you want me to walk around naked?"
One of them pulled out a black plastic bag, yanked out some clothes, and tossed them to her.
Sofia couldn't worry about anything else now.
She told the guys, "Turn around."
Surprisingly, they did.
Sofia took off all her jewelry, including her watch and rings.
She said to the guys, "Can we go now?"
One of them noticed the necklace around her neck and pointed at it. "You can't take that."
Sofia quickly covered it. "Why can't I take it? My mom left it to me."
It was the only thing her mom had left her before she died. She'd never taken it off. Why should she now? Was it really necessary to be so paranoid about a necklace?
The guy insisted, "We said no, so no. If anything goes wrong, both you and your grandma are toast. Your call."
Sofia couldn't help but frown. Nolan was really pushing her too far. She'd done so much for him already, and now he was still forcing her.
Thinking about her grandma, she had no choice but to comply.
Reluctantly, she took off the necklace and placed it on the table. "You better not lose this necklace, or I'll come after you."
The guys threatened, "Do you want your life or your necklace?"
At this point, was Sofia out of her mind, still thinking about the necklace?
Sofia didn't say anything, placing her clothes and the necklace together. The necklace wasn't worth much, but it was the only thing her mom had left her.
After she left with the guys, Malcolm's team quickly noticed and followed. But halfway through, they lost the signal, and the red spot on the tracker stopped moving.
When Justin's team reported to Malcolm, he couldn't help but frown. "How did you lose her?"
Justin said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Mr. Flynn. I didn't mean to lose her. They switched cars after getting in, and both cars looked identical. I got mixed up."
He'd been watching like a hawk, but they still slipped away. Later, he realized the car he was tailing was empty.
Malcolm's face darkened, almost ready to blow a gasket. "What about the tracker? Wasn't it in the necklace around Sofia's neck?"
Justin reported, "The necklace stayed put because Nolan's guys made her change clothes and ditch all her jewelry."
Malcolm hadn't expected Nolan to make Sofia strip down to nothing, not even her necklace. These guys were extremely careful.
He waved his hand. "Forget it. Stop following them. We'll have to count on Sebastian now."
Hopefully, Sebastian could track down Nolan. If they missed this shot, finding him again would be a nightmare.
Justin apologized again. "I'm sorry, Mr. Flynn. I messed up."
Malcolm said quickly, "Forget it. It's not your fault. Nolan's naturally super cautious right now."
To save his own skin, he had to be.
He turned to Reese. "Babe, stay in touch with Sebastian. He's our only lead now. We might find out where Nolan's hiding, but we can't send anyone over. If Nolan catches wind, Sofia's toast."
Reese knew it very well. A guy like Nolan would rather kill a thousand by mistake than let one slip. If no one could save Sofia, she was done for. "I know. Don't blame Justin. Nolan's a slippery snake. Otherwise, he wouldn't have stayed on top for so long. Remind Sebastian."
"Got it." Calvin kept his eyes glued to the screen, afraid the target would vanish.
Reese told Calvin, "Tell Sebastian to head this way."
Calvin, eyes fixed on his computer, responded quickly, "Got it. I've already sent it to him."
Sebastian got the message and quickly led his team over.
A man from his team joked, "Sebastian, are you taking us on a world tour?"
Sebastian, looking at Calvin's message, felt impatient. It was tense. "Quit whining. When I don't call you out, you say I forget about you. Now I call you out, you say I'm taking you on a world tour."
The man said, "You rarely come this way. Besides, it's all woods here, easy to get lost. Don't you think it's a bit creepy?"
Sebastian shouted, "Are you a man or not? It's places like this that sharpen your driving skills. Stop losing to me every time."
The man voiced, "Who said I'd always lose to you? You're underestimating me!"
Fueled with anger, his teammate's fighting spirit kicked in.
Seeing his plan work, Sebastian quickly added, "Then shut up and get moving. Let's roll."
With that, his teammate floored it and sped off. Sebastian followed close behind. They couldn't just cruise around slowly; that'd make them easy targets.
They had to drive fast and loop around a few times, dodging Nolan's radar.
Soon, Sebastian found a good hideout.
