Chapter 553 No Escape
At that moment, looking into the situation at the hospital seemed like a straightforward task. Given the recent occurrence and the likelihood of it sparking considerable attention, obtaining information was bound to be easy. Simply asking around would likely provide a clear and concise explanation of what had transpired.
A few minutes later, Justin came back with the answers, reporting everything in detail to Malcolm.
When Malcolm heard the news, his face changed dramatically, and he exuded an intimidating aura.
Justin saw the glass in Malcolm's hand shatter and quickly tried to calm him down. "Mr. Flynn, don't be angry. You've seen Mrs. Flynn's skills; dealing with those people is a piece of cake for her," he comforted.
Malcolm's expression turned grave, and his lips were pressed into a tight line "Justin, this gun must have been given to those people by Vincent. If they dared to shoot, they must not be good people. The key point is, guess where Vincent got the gun from."
Justin, still reeling from Malcolm's intensity, faltered for a moment. "I'm a bit slow on the uptake right now, I'm not sure," he confessed.
"Consider the entirety of Atlanta. Aside from Giedon, who else could possibly have access to these firearms? Give it some thought," Malcolm reminded him.
Justin suddenly realized. "Nolan."
"If Nolan and Vincent were to cooperate, the motive becomes clearer. They share a common adversary in Reese and me. Nolan wants to get rid of Reese so he won't have a strong opponent anymore. Reese is a constant obstacle in Nolan's way, and if he doesn't deal with it, he risks falling into her grasp," Malcolm analyzed, connecting the dots with a sense of determination.
"Mr. Flynn, your analysis is spot on. Right now, Nolan's biggest enemy isn't Everhart but Mrs. Flynn. Even if Everhart has dirt on Nolan, he wouldn't dare to release it casually. It would make him a target, and he might even lose his life, which would be a huge loss."
Malcolm continued, "Vincent lacks the necessary influence to face Reese and me alone, so he has to seek external help. And the best external help, isn't it Nolan?"
These two were the same kind of people. The potential chaos they could unleash together was a troubling thought,
Justin voiced his uncertainties, "But just getting rid of Vincent isn't enough. There's still Nolan, and he's a big problem too."
Malcolm chuckled self-assuredly, "Ever heard of killing two birds with one stone? Vincent's gun must have come from Nolan. It's the only plausible source. Think about it. With such a big incident, Nolan can't escape responsibility."
Justin smacked his forehead in vexation. "I must have a brain like a soggy sponge lately. I didn't connect these simple dots. Nolan provided Vincent with these things, and if investigated, he can't escape responsibility. He'll definitely be investigated, and once other things are uncovered, he won't be able to run."
Malcolm understood Justin's situation. Lately, Justin had been grappling with an overwhelming workload, and even Malcolm felt the strain. Given Justin's additional responsibilities in managing company affairs, it was natural for him to feel disoriented and overwhelmed.
He patted Justin on the shoulder lightly. "Go ahead and make arrangements. Go find Vincent now, then call the police. Get the evidence from Mrs. Flynn and hand it over to the police. Also, freeze Vincent's bank accounts. The cards under his name were all from the Flynn family. Since he's no longer part of the Flynn family, the cards should be returned."
"But Vincent probably has other channels. He must have more than one way. Besides the Flynn family, he must have his own money," Justin offered.
Over the years, Vincent had always been wary of the Flynn family and ambitious, hoping to push Malcolm out and take his place. There must be more than one way to gain money.
Malcolm's gaze shimmered with unwavering resolve. "He underestimates his own strength completely. I didn't deal with him before because we were brothers. But now that he's done such a treacherous thing, as a member of the Flynn family,it is my duty to hold him accountable. His overconfidence blinds him. Little does he know, crushing him is as easy as crushing an ant for me."
Looking at the cold glint in Malcolm's eyes, Justin felt a bit scared. Those who offended Malcolm never had a good end. Such a terrifying man, and he married a woman just as terrifying. Thinking of this. Justin couldn't help but shiver. This couple might dominate the whole of Atlanta in the future.
While things had settled down for Malcolm, Vincent's situation was far from good. He was waiting for good news, especially when he saw the people he sent out return. He couldn't wait to ask, "Is it done?"
The men exchanged nervous glances.
Vincent suddenly roared, "Didn't you hear me? How did it go? Is she dealt with?"
The men knew they couldn't hide it and wore mournful expressions. "Mr. Flynn, Reese's skills are extraordinary. We had already fired, but she managed to dodge the bullets and took our guns. She also left a message for you. She said..."
Vincent, furious, slapped the man's head, veins bulging on his forehead. "Speak!"
"She... she said if you want to escape, you better do it now. But no matter where you run, she'll find you!"
Vincent's complexion drained of color as he slumped into a nearby chair, struck with disbelief.
How could they fail? The people he had sent were professional killers, and there were five of them with guns. Reese, a woman, no matter how skilled, couldn't possibly face guns head-on. How did she manage to avoid them and take their guns? This Reese was simply inhuman.
However, he didn't have time to think about that now. The thwarted plan likely exposed his involvement to Reese and Malcolm. Urgency gripped him; a swift escape became imperative.
Vincent dialed a number and said, "I'm leaving now. Pick me up at the door in ten minutes."
"Understood."
Following the call, Vincent's frustration boiled over as he berated the men, "Due to your failure to execute the mission, you will receive only half of the agreed-upon payment." The men didn't argue. Half was better than nothing. They had failed to kill the target and were exposed. Reese would definitely call the police, and they wouldn't be able to escape. They could use the money to flee.
Just as Vincent was about to transfer the money, he encountered a problem. He was puzzled; it was working fine before, so why couldn't he transfer now?
