Chapter 388 Who Gives You Confidence
Clara gave Sophia a fierce glare. "If you don't want to get beaten up, shut your mouth!"
Reese knew Sophia was worried about her and turned back to Sophia. "You just wait there quietly, I'll settle this quickly!"
Sophia was still very worried and hurriedly went up to hold Reese back. "Reese, you can't beat them. Let's call the police."
As a girl, how could Reese possibly beat so many men? They were all strong and sturdy, their arms thicker than her legs. Although Reese was tall and slender, she was still a girl. How could she be a match for these men?
Reese pressed her shoulder. "Don't worry."
She stood up and turned around with an arrogant gaze. "Come together."
Clara sneered. "You are shameless."
The men rushed toward Reese in an instant. Reese was fierce, raised her hand, and slapped a man charging at her. Another man tried to attack from the side, but Reese quickly dodged.
The man missed, and Reese kicked him in the abdomen. The man staggered back in pain, unable to get up after being kicked in a sensitive area.
Sophia sat on a bench, almost stunned by the scene. She had never seen such an exciting fight before and couldn't help but applaud. "Reese, you're amazing."
In just a few minutes, Reese had already knocked down all those men. Clara watched in disbelief as the men she had brought lay on the ground.
Clara was stunned and kicked the men on the ground. "Useless people, you can't even handle a woman. Get up!"
But these men were all injured by Reese and couldn't get up, writhing in pain on the ground.
Reese casually clapped her hands, not a hint of fatigue on her face or even a drop of sweat. She said arrogantly to Clara, "Sebastian tried to bring over a dozen men to challenge me before, but none were my match. With just these three, Ms. Hawthorne, I wonder what gave you the confidence to send them to stop me."
Clara was unaware of this situation, as Sebastian hadn't informed her. Reese indeed had some skills.
"Don't get too cocky. You know the capabilities of the Hawthorne family. If you don't want trouble in the future, it's best to leave and stop messing with us," Clara warned.
"I'm sorry. If you hadn't come looking for me today, I might have considered not stepping into the Hawthorne family in the future. But since you've said that, I feel it would be interesting to play with you," Reese replied, sounding a bit insolent.
Her words sounded particularly audacious, but having experienced Reese's capabilities firsthand, Clara now hesitated to take action. Reese had shown herself to be impetuous, with a fiery temper and seemingly no regard for her elders. If she took action on her, it would be quite an undesirable development.
Clara, having witnessed Reese's abilities, didn't dare act rashly now. She realized that Reese was not someone to be trifled with. Feeling a bit panicked, she decided to discuss the situation with Alexander before taking further action.
Before leaving, Clara threw Reese a few harsh words. "We'll see what the future holds!"
Reese remained serious. "Of course, our future will definitely be exciting."
Clara was unable to bear Reese's arrogance, so she gave her a cold glance and then got into her car without caring about the men on the ground. After the car left, Sophia approached Reese, her eyes shining with admiration.
"Reese, how are you so skilled?"
"It's nothing, just self-defense," she replied casually.
Sophia didn't know that Reese had more skills than she had shown. Knocking down those men earlier was just a warm-up for her.
"Let's go eat first and discuss other matters later," Sophia suggested, seeing that it was getting late.
"Sure." Reese was also hungry.
The two headed to a barbecue restaurant. Sophia was exceptionally warm toward Reese today. Reese smiled at Sophia's genuine demeanor.
She treated Sophia better than her other colleagues because she found Sophia to be sincere and trustworthy, a friend worth having.
Thanks to Malcolm, Reese had become less guarded in her interactions with others. She had started to trust people.
In the past, Reese was unwilling to talk with Sophia, thinking socializing was a waste of time.
But today, her perception of Sophia had changed. She used to think Sophia was timid, but now she saw her standing up to Clara, a wealthy woman.
"I'm good here, you should eat more," Reese said, as Sophia kept serving her food.
"Okay." Sophia served herself more food and then asked Reese. "What's your plan next? Clara isn't a good person. She brought so many people today. What will you do in the future?"
Sophia was worried about Reese being alone, and she didn't know how to help her.
"You don't have to worry. She can't do anything to me."
What Clara should be worried about now is whether Reese would cause problems for her. It was the most important thing.
Thinking back to Clara's demeanor earlier, Sophia felt a bit scared. A woman like her, with power and background, could cause a lot of trouble if things went wrong.
"Maybe you should call the police. After all, she had people attack you, and the police can take action," Sophia suggested.
"No need. I can handle this myself. You should eat. It's almost time to go back to work," Reese said.
"Okay." Sophia could tell Reese didn't want to dwell on the matter further, so she didn't press on.
