Chapter 416 Not Even Worth a Finger

"Come out and meet me." Alexander said directly, showing he wasn't one for small talk and got straight to the point.

Reese's tone was as cold as an ice cellar. "You want to meet, so I have to meet you? Why?"

Hearing that arrogant tone and attitude, Alexander changed his face. He had never been refused before, and now he was rejected by a girl in front of his assistant, feeling his pride was insulted.

His attitude didn't soften a bit, but he was still very assertive. "You took my project, and you don't even dare to meet me?"

Reese sneered disdainfully. Why wouldn't she dare? "I just don't want to meet you."

Such a straightforward refusal was the first time Alexander had been rejected so bluntly, and for a moment, he couldn't handle the psychological gap.

"What if I insist on meeting you?"

Alexander didn't give up just because Reese didn't want to see him. She had taken his project, and he had to meet her. He wanted to see who dared to do this.

"Let's see if you have the ability to meet me." Saying that, Reese hung up.

Alexander listened to the cold beeping sound on the phone, almost exploding with anger. His grip on the phone tightened, and he gritted his teeth. "That damn girl..."

The assistant comforted him, "Mr. Hawthorne, maybe it's better not to meet her. I think even if you meet, Ms. Brooks won't give you a good attitude."

Listen to that arrogant tone on the phone, it was infuriating. But this temper was indeed like the Hawthorne family.

He usually saw Mr. Hawthorne like this.

However, Alexander refused and said, "No, I must meet her. Find some people to block her at the company entrance. I don't believe a little girl can be that capable."

If she continued to be so arrogant, she might become very assertive once she entered the Hawthorne family, becoming another Sebastian.

Sebastian was still manageable. At least when he got angry, he knew when to advance and retreat. Reese might not be the same.

Seeing Alexander so persistent, the assistant couldn't say much more. "I'll arrange it now."

"Find some tough ones. I heard this girl is quite good at fighting."

"Understood."

In other words, found a few people to take a beating.

After hanging up, Reese leisurely crossed her legs and drank the coffee in front of her, feeling much more cheerful.

Sophia saw her humming a tune and curiously approached. "Reese, what's going on?"

"Nothing."

"Then why are you so happy?"

"I just heard someone got quite angry, and it made my day."

Alexander couldn't imagine someone daring to confront him like this. The Hawthorne family members all had a problem of being self-righteous.

They always thought that as long as they said something, others must comply. She just wouldn't.

Sophia, now following Reese, had become much smarter. Seeing Reese so spirited, she boldly guessed. "Could it be someone from the Hawthorne family?"

"Yeah, the Hawthorne family president wanted to meet me, and I refused."

Sophia was shocked. "The Hawthorne family president wants to meet you? It seems everyone in the Hawthorne family knows about you now."

Reese coldly curled her lips. So what if they knew? She had never intended to associate with the Hawthorne family.

However, knowing Alexander's way of doing things, he wouldn't give up easily. Plus, knowing his project was taken, he must be furious.

She turned to Sophia and said, "You don't need to wait for me after work today. Just go home."

"Go home? Why? Do you have something to do today? I was planning to ask you to watch a movie."

Sophia had noticed a new movie coming out these days.

"Another day, I'll treat you."

Reese didn't want to implicate Sophia. She didn't know the Hawthorne family well. Alexander, being able to develop the Hawthorne Group to its current state, was not easy to deal with.

Men who want to achieve great things are never too soft-hearted, an eternal truth.

Seeing Reese say this, Sophia didn't insist further. "Alright, you go ahead today, and we'll watch it another day."

After work, Reese left the company. Sophia slowly packed her things to go home. A female colleague walked over and mocked her. "Look, this is human nature. She's now Mrs. Flynn. How would she care about a small employee like you? She says she's busy, but she's probably going to meet Mr. Flynn. Why would she take you, an extra?"

Sophia felt a surge of anger and retorted, "You're talking nonsense. Reese isn't like that."

"Isn't she? You know very well. Have you ever seen a rich man's wife be friends with an ordinary person? You're really not thinking straight."

But Sophia believed Reese wasn't like that. She didn't believe a word the female colleagues said.

"Stop badmouthing Reese. You haven't interacted with her. You don't know what kind of person she is. Why say such things about her?"

The female colleague sneered and said, "Do we need to know? Isn't it obvious? You must be out of your mind to follow her. If she doesn't give you any benefits, what's the use? Is it worth becoming enemies with so many colleagues for her? You should join us. Maybe Reese will come back begging you one day."

Sophia couldn't believe these words came from a person's mouth.

She tried to leave, but the female colleague wouldn't let her go easily. Without Reese to protect her, she was easy to bully.

Other female colleagues started mocking Sophia too. "You're like Reese's dog, useless, just following her around."

Sophia felt incredibly hurt, almost leaving but then returning. "Stop talking nonsense. Reese really considers me a good friend."

"A good friend? Sophia, are you out of your mind or just naive?"

"Yeah, how could the Flynn Group president's wife be friends with an ordinary person? Aren't there enough rich friends outside? You're overestimating yourself."

Sophia, eyes red, couldn't do anything against them. What could she do alone?

At that moment, the office door suddenly opened, and a cold, sharp voice said,

"In my opinion, none of you are worth even one of Sophia's fingers."
