Chapter 424 Going to Hell Together
Malcolm looked at it and thought these projects were okay. If it weren't for the fact that the Hawthorne family hadn't been taken down yet, they probably wouldn't have had a chance. But it was also quite challenging. He had just glanced at it roughly, and those partners were notoriously picky in the industry. They might not even look at the average person's proposal.
This also meant that even if they invested, if it didn't meet their requirements, it would still be rejected.
Reese didn't expect Malcolm to make such a big move.
"Are you sure?"
Malcolm stroked his chin. "If you're going to do something, you have to do it properly."
Reese agreed with this point and said, "Alright, I'll have them look into it later."
"But if you want to take on this project, you might have to put your own work aside for a bit. This month, you'll probably have to devote yourself to this. But don't worry, hubby will help you."
Malcolm looked smug, as if being able to help Reese made him feel particularly satisfied.
Thinking about it, they were both very capable people. Since getting married, they rarely had the chance to work together.
Reese teased him on purpose. "Look at you being all smug. Maybe you won't be able to help at all, and I'll handle it by myself."
Malcolm put his arm around Reese's shoulder and playfully touched her nose. Although his words were contrary, his eyes were full of tenderness.
"One should be humble; boasting is not advisable."
"How am I not humble? Let's see whose project proposal gets approved."
Malcolm's words instantly ignited Reese's competitive spirit.
Malcolm chuckled deeply and said meaningfully, "If I do win, are you ready to always be my wife? It doesn't matter, I never planned to let you go. Even if you wanted to leave, it's impossible."
He had told Reese before, for him, there was only widowhood and no divorce. But his wife probably wouldn't want to die either.
Actually, Reese had no plans to leave. As long as Malcolm didn't wrong her, she intended to live a stable life with him.
However, since they were going to compete, it wouldn't be interesting without a reward.
Reese pondered for a moment and said, "How about this? If I lose, I'll serve you for a month, at your beck and call. Whatever you ask, I'll do. What do you think?"
Malcolm's lips curled up mischievously.
"Is this service all-encompassing?"
His words carried a hint of an alternative meaning, coupled with that gaze, making it easy for one's imagination to run wild.
Reese was no longer a young girl and had no reason to be shy. She replied calmly, "All-encompassing."
"Alright, I accept your bet."
With his wife as the prize, he had to win no matter what.
Reese's fighting spirit was instantly ignited. "Alright, I'll let you choose first. There are four projects here. We each pick two, and even if one doesn't pass, it won't count."
Malcolm's eye twitched. "Playing so hard?"
"If we're going to play, it has to be exciting." Malcolm's bet only made her more determined to win.
At this moment, Malcolm saw a formidable force in Reese. She was truly different from others. If it were an ordinary person, they might have given up immediately. But she grew stronger in the face of difficulties.
He rubbed his forehead and chuckled, saying, "I wonder how your brother would feel if he knew we took the project while he was bedridden."
Reese sneered and said, "Isn't that a normal move for me?"
She had snatched Malcolm's projects before, but this time, taking Alexander's was out in the open.
Maybe when Alexander could get up, knowing the project was in their hands, he might be furious.
"Forget about him. He did something stupid by drugging you."
In these matters, the wife was definitely more important.
Malcolm then chose two of the more difficult projects, leaving the easier ones for Reese. Actually, the difference wasn't that significant because the difficulty of these projects was similar. It just depended on how the person who got the project planned to execute it.
She thought she had been lenient enough. With her previous temper, Alexander wouldn't have had it so easy.
In the evening, neither of them went downstairs for dinner. Aiden sat in his chair, his old face tense, and his cloudy eyes full of displeasure.
"What’s going on? Now they can't even come down for dinner?"
Everly stood up. "I'll go call them."
"You go, and tell them to come down quickly. What does it look like for a family not to eat together?"
Aiden had always been strict and traditional, paying great attention to these rules.
He believed that since it was mealtime, the family should sit together and eat properly.
Who knew that ever since Reese entered the family, the entire Flynn family had lost its order? Even Alyssa sometimes didn't come down to eat, having the servants bring food to her room.
He hadn't said anything the first few times, but now it was getting worse, and they seemed to have forgotten their roots.
Everly went upstairs and was about to open the door when she heard Reese and Malcolm talking.
"I think if Alexander knew we took his project, do you think he'd cause a scene at the Flynn family?"
"If he dares to come, he better be prepared not to leave."
"Let him taste that feeling; it's quite good."
Everly happened to catch the essence of their conversation. No wonder they hadn't come downstairs all day. They were planning to snatch the project from the Hawthorne family.
Reese's plan was quite bad, even roping Malcolm in. She had always known this woman wasn't good.
She was trying to drag the entire Flynn family into trouble.
No, she had to tell Aiden about this. She turned to head downstairs but was pulled into a room by Vincent.
Everly looked at Vincent with a puzzled expression. "Why did you pull me in here!"
"You're planning to tell Grandpa that they're secretly going against the Hawthorne family, trying to steal several projects, and then Grandpa will scold Reese harshly, and they'll get divorced?"
Vincent had almost read all of Everly's thoughts. He saw it all clearly.
