Chapter 35 Is Malcolm Helping Her?
Everly was caught off guard, a flash of panic in her eyes. Reese looked like she had just read Everly's mind.
She knew her feelings for Malcolm weren't just sibling stuff; they were full-on romantic. Her beef with Reese was different from Alyssa's. Alyssa just hated Reese for messing up the family vibe and was scared Reese would steal her thunder.
But now that the cat was out of the bag, she wasn't gonna hide it. She doubted Reese would have the guts to spill the beans to Malcolm about her crush.
She lifted her chin a bit, all smug and proud.
"So what if you know? You can't do squat about it. Once Malcolm can stand up, you think you can still crash at The Flynn Villa? Keep dreaming."
Reese smirked to herself. She never planned on sticking around The Flynn Villa forever, but as long as she was there, no one was gonna push her around or try to tie her down.
Her cold fingers grabbed Everly's chin, making her look up. Everly locked eyes with her and was totally freaked out.
Reese's stare was so intense that Everly started to feel a bit uneasy.
"Miss Flynn, whether you like me or not doesn't matter, but don't push my buttons. Otherwise, I don't care who you are, I'll fight back just as hard."
Even if Malcolm were here right now, she wouldn't back down.
The nearby servants were in shock. Just a moment ago, Everly was all mouthy, but now she seemed to have lost her voice. Reese was just too intimidating.
Everly wasn't actually mute; she was just too freaked out by Reese's vibe to say anything.
Right then, footsteps echoed from the doorway. Justin wheeled Malcolm in.
"What's all the commotion here?"
Even though Malcolm's tone was calm, it felt like there were hidden threats, making the servants go dead silent.
Seeing Malcolm, Everly's face lit up with hope, her eyes full of expectation.
"Malcolm, help me! Reese tied me up and even tried to hit me. Kick her out of our family."
Even the servants thought Reese was done for. Everyone knew Malcolm had a soft spot for his two sisters, Everly and Alyssa.
Plus, Reese had just married into the family, and there was no emotional bond between them yet.
Not only did the servants think this way, but Everly was convinced of it too. Malcolm had seen everything; there was no way he'd side with Reese, right?
This time, Reese had really dug her own grave. Everly was just waiting for the fireworks.
Justin pushed Malcolm closer. His deep, ocean-like eyes scanned the disheveled and furious Everly, then shifted to his calm wife.
She seemed totally composed. Wasn't she worried about getting blamed?
"Got nothing to say for yourself?"
"Nothing." If Malcolm trusted her, he'd find out the truth on his own. If he didn't, no amount of explaining would change his mind.
She'd always been like this, steady as a rock, never expecting much from others, so she wouldn't be let down.
As a kid, she used to wait by the door from dawn till dusk, hoping her dad would come take her home. But day after day, year after year, he never showed. That's when she learned that hope only leads to disappointment.
Since then, she vowed never to hope for anything from anyone. No matter how tough or tricky the problem, she'd handle it solo.
Malcolm was momentarily taken aback by her reaction. He had expected her to cry and make a scene, but she was so calm.
Was she too lazy to explain, or did she just not care if he misunderstood her?
Reese wasn't particularly stunning, but her thoughts ran deep.
Seeing Reese not explaining, Everly decided to lay it on thick for Malcolm, with witnesses and all.
She cried to Malcolm, tears streaming down her face.
"Malcolm, you have to teach this woman a lesson. She tied me up and even beat all the servants."
Malcolm's eyes were cold. "Is that so?"
His tone clearly showed he didn't buy it. He knew Everly's character well. Although not as wild as Alyssa, the two sisters were pretty similar.
After all, they were both spoiled since childhood. How good could their tempers be?
Plus, Reese was a bit of a rebel and didn't play by the rules. Naturally, Everly and Alyssa were always butting heads with her.
Everly could see Malcolm wasn't buying her story and quickly added, "If you don't believe me, just ask the servants."
When Malcolm's intense gaze swept over the servants, they felt a wave of pressure.
"Tell me, did Reese really come in and start hitting you all, then tie up Everly?"
The servants exchanged nervous glances, too scared to speak, worried they'd say the wrong thing and piss him off.
Everly was getting desperate. These servants were useless. If they pointed the finger at Reese, Malcolm would definitely believe them.
Everly shouted, "Why are you all mute now? Speak up!"
One servant timidly stepped forward, about to say something, when Malcolm's commanding voice cut through the air again.
"If any of you dare to lie, I'll cut out your tongues and feed them to the fish in the pond!"
"This..." The servant was instantly paralyzed with fear, not knowing what to say.
Malcolm didn't give her a chance to hesitate, urging again. "Speak!"
The servant's legs went weak, almost collapsing.
"Mr. Malcolm Flynn, please don't be angry. Miss Everly Flynn said Mrs. Reese Flynn is a seductress and even hired a witch from outside. But Mrs. Reese Flynn wouldn't cooperate and then they..."
"Seductress?" Malcolm's eyes flashed dangerously, and the servant quickly lowered her head, trembling all over.
Everly felt like she was about to die. This idiot had just exposed her.
She hurriedly tried to explain, "Malcolm, don't listen to her nonsense, I..."
"Lock Everly in her room. Without my orders, she is not allowed to come out!"
Malcolm's sudden command left everyone stunned.
Malcolm was actually going to lock Everly in her room? Wasn't she his favorite?
Malcolm's patience had completely run out, and he roared.
"Can't you hear that?"
The servants quickly sprang into action, first untying Everly, then preparing to take her upstairs. Everly couldn't let Malcolm punish herself as he wanted.
She strained her neck, turning her head to shout, "Malcolm, she really is a seductress. You have to believe me. She's definitely up to something by marrying into the Flynn family."
The servants were about to take her upstairs when Malcolm suddenly called out.
"Wait, let her go."
The servants thought there was a turn of events and quickly released Everly.
Everly was delighted, thinking Malcolm must have believed her. She hurried to him, looking tearful.
"Malcolm, you finally believe me. She really has ulterior motives. This woman must have used some witchcraft to enchant you."
"Enchant me?" Malcolm's face darkened instantly at these words. "Everly, you spent the whole day at the company researching this? Tell me, how is she a seductress?"
Everly, looking confident, raised her head. "How is she not? Ever since she married in, you've been especially fond of her, neglecting Alyssa and me."
Malcolm seemed surprised that Everly would convict Reese for such a reason.
"So because of this, you hired a witch to come to our house?"
"Yes, I wanted to expose this seductress!"
"Nonsense!" Malcolm's face turned red with anger, veins bulging on his forehead, scaring everyone present. Even Reese, though she kept her cool, felt a ripple in her calm heart at Malcolm's outburst.
Was he really angry at Everly for her sake?
Everly was as shocked as she looked. When she came to her senses, her heart tingled with a sense of grievance and tears streamed down her face.
"You say she's not a seductress and hasn't enchanted you? But you used to never be this harsh with me. You would always give me whatever I wanted, but now you're scolding me for this ugly woman!"
"I've spoiled you, but that doesn't mean you can be unreasonable." Malcolm rarely got angry with Everly, and his strong presence scared everyone.
Everly pouted, "When have I been unreasonable? Malcolm, I'm doing this for your own good."
"You bullying my wife is also for my good?" Malcolm spoke righteously, his expression slightly fierce.
