Chapter 543 Go Find Sebastian
"I didn't mean it like that. Did you fix Reese's garage?" Alyssa asked, confused.
Malcolm felt awkward. His eye twitched, and his face tightened. "Honestly, if you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have known my wife even had a garage, let alone a fancy one," he said with a wry smile.
Alyssa perked up and told Reese, "Reese, I'm off to find Sebastian. Wait for me, I can't wait to see your amazing garage!"
She quickly turned and ran inside. Malcolm called after her, "Weren't you coming to the hospital with us? Why the change?"
"I'm not going. You guys go ahead," Alyssa waved back. She needed to get ready to find Sebastian.
If Sebastian heard about Reese, his eyes would light up, and he might agree right away.
Malcolm got in the car and asked Reese, "Do you think Sebastian will really give the car to Alyssa?"
Reese replied, "It's tough. Car guys are picky, especially about their favorites."
"Then why let Alyssa go?" Malcolm asked, thinking Reese might be tricking Alyssa.
"Sebastian's actually pretty straightforward. If Alyssa can convince him, he might agree. But the car she offers has to impress him. Otherwise, it won't matter how expensive it is," Reese explained, shrugging.
Malcolm was surprised by Reese's insight. "I didn't know you knew so much about Sebastian."
"If you pay attention, he's pretty easy to read," Reese said.
Sebastian was the most straightforward person in the Hawthorne family. He was sincere and never pretended to like something he didn't. This honesty made Reese comfortable around him, even as she distanced herself from the rest of the Hawthorne family to avoid complications.
Justin, who was driving, chimed in, "Since Mr. Flynn took over business with the Hawthorne family, they've been super busy. Mr. Hawthorne was so stressed with contracts that he ended up in the hospital."
"Alexander isn't doing much better. He's been drinking and socializing so much that he had a stomach bleed. They probably regret crossing Mrs. Flynn now," Justin added.
Reese didn't need extra cash. With a luxury garage and a private jet, money wasn't an issue. The Hawthorne family's paranoia about people chasing their wealth only caused them unnecessary problems. If Justin were part of the Hawthorne family, he would have treated Reese like a treasure. Ignoring her was foolish. It was baffling how the Hawthorne family, being in business, lacked basic common sense and self-awareness.
Malcolm sighed, "Some people are just stubborn and paranoid, thinking everyone's after their money." If Reese wanted, he could give her everything from the Flynn family.
Reese didn't want to deal with the Hawthorne family's issues lately. Mutual non-interference was best. But if they provoked her, she wouldn't hold back.
Meanwhile, Alyssa found Sebastian playing pool with his friends, looking pleased.
His friends were joking around.
"I heard they took your favorite car. Didn't you spend a lot on mods?"
"Yeah, you barely drove it. It was your best car."
"Last time I wanted to borrow it, you said no, treating it like a treasure."
"You seemed upset for a while."
"Why are you okay now?"
Sebastian took a shot, sinking the ball. "I got this new car I'm super pumped about. The setup's perfect, and the color's way better than the old one."
Someone joked, "So you forgot the old love because of a new one."
"What else could I do? The car's not coming back. If it wasn't for a few favors, I could've spent a couple of nights in jail. It was a huge wreck; cars everywhere, smashed up real bad," Sebastian recounted.
"Yeah, I heard you had an accident. What happened? You usually drive fast but steady."
"It was because of my sister. She called saying someone was chasing her. I was nearby, so I helped out." When Sebastian mentioned Reese, his eyes were full of pride.
"When did you suddenly have a sister?"
Sebastian snorted, "My sister is amazing. She has her own garage, recently bought a private jet, runs her own business, and doesn't rely on her husband. And she's very beautiful."
Alyssa almost burst out laughing. She agreed with everything Sebastian said, but his tone and expression made it sound funny.
Despite his carefree and unreliable appearance, Sebastian was genuinely simple and sincere. This set him apart from the deceitful crowd—a trait Alyssa valued. She preferred people who wore their hearts on their sleeves over those who flaunted empty skills. The key was, they both liked Reese, which made them friends.
Alyssa walked up, stood on tiptoe, and patted Sebastian's shoulder. "Sebastian."
Sebastian was taken aback, unsure if he had misheard. How could a girl be calling him here?
Turning around, he saw Alyssa standing behind him, only reaching his arm. Despite her small stature, her adorable and lively demeanor, with mischievous eyes, gave off an air of creativity and energy.
Seeing Alyssa, Sebastian couldn't help but express his surprise, "What brings you here?"
"I came to see you," Alyssa said.
Just as Alyssa finished, Sebastian's friends started teasing.
"Sebastian, you're lucky. She's so cute. When did you guysstart dating?"
Sebastian yelled at them, "Don't talk nonsense. We're not like that."
One of them, seeing Alyssa's cute and spirited look, wanted to tease her. "Hey girl, how old are you? You even legal? Wanna go out with me?"
As he reached out to touch Alyssa's chin, Sebastian grabbed his hand before he could.
