Chapter 601 Sebastian in Grave Danger

Alyssa was usually a tough cookie, but this scene had her freaked out. Her face went ghost-white, and she was totally losing it. But then she remembered Sebastian was all alone and no match for these people.

She grabbed onto Sebastian's sleeve, her voice shaky. "What do we do, Sebastian? Can you handle these guys?"

Sebastian had never seen Alyssa this scared. He glanced at her trembling hand clutching him. "What's up? Scared? I heard from the Flynn family's servants you're the little tyrant."

Alyssa smacked him, frustrated. "Is this really the time for jokes?"

Sebastian took her cold, trembling hand, dropping his usual chill vibe to comfort her. "Don't sweat it. I'm the little tyrant of the Hawthorne family. Just stand back and watch."

He pushed Alyssa to the side. She reminded him, "Be careful."

Sebastian shot back, "Yeah, but if I win today, you gotta promise to marry me for real this time."

Alyssa hadn't kept her word the last two times.

Before she could respond, she saw someone behind Sebastian raising a stick to whack him. She screamed, "Sebastian, behind you!"

Sebastian's eyes narrowed, already on high alert. As the stick came down, he dodged and punched the guy in the gut, making him drop the stick.

Chaos erupted as the others rushed at Sebastian.

Alyssa watched, heart pounding, as Sebastian fought them off. Realizing the danger, she quickly pulled out her phone to call the cops. But the guy Sebastian had knocked down earlier got up, glaring at her. "You dare call the cops? I'll..."

Before he could finish, he dropped unconscious. Alyssa saw Sebastian standing behind him, holding a stick, and knocked him out cold.

Alyssa clung to Sebastian, her voice trembling. "Sebastian, I'm... I'm scared."

"Don't worry. I got you," Sebastian reassured her.

Sebastian shielded Alyssa as they prepared to leave. Just then, the guy in the red hoodie seemed too bitter to give up. He grabbed a stick, yelling, "You're both dead!"

Hearing this, Sebastian tried to stop him but it was too late. He shoved Alyssa aside, shouting, "Watch out!"

Alyssa was pushed away, but Sebastian took the full blow to the head from the stick.

She turned around just in time to see Sebastian collapse to the ground.

She screamed, "Sebastian..."

She rushed over to support him, but her hands felt warm and wet. When she looked, her eyes widened in horror; her palms were covered in blood. "Sebastian, Sebastian..."

The crowd saw the blood on Alyssa's hands and freaked out.

"We're screwed. He's dead. Oh my God..."

"Let's get outta here!"

They dragged the guy in the red hoodie and bolted.

Alyssa, holding a bleeding Sebastian, shakily pulled out her phone and called for an ambulance.

Her voice trembled as she spoke into the phone, "We... we have someone hurt here, head injury. Please come to Maple Street, quick."

After that, Alyssa's phone was already smeared with blood. She was shaking all over, clutching the unconscious Sebastian, muttering, "Sebastian, you gotta be okay. You just gotta."

When the ambulance showed up, the paramedics loaded Sebastian onto a stretcher and rushed him to the hospital.

As they wheeled Sebastian into the operating room, Alyssa was in a total daze, her mind blank. It all felt like a bad dream, from calling the ambulance to getting to the hospital.

When she finally snapped out of it, she remembered to call Reese.

Reese picked up, clueless about what had gone down.

Alyssa cried into the phone, "Reese, Sebastian, he... he..."

Reese could tell something was seriously wrong and quickly asked, "Don't cry. Calm down and tell me what happened."

"Sebastian got beaten up and he's in the hospital now, getting emergency treatment."

"Which hospital?"

"Uh... let me check," Alyssa was still out of it and had no idea where she was.

She grabbed a passing nurse. "Excuse me, what hospital is this?"

The nurse replied, "Virtual Hospital."

Alyssa relayed, "Reese..."

Reese cut in, "I heard. Sit down and don't move. We're on our way."

"Okay," Reese's words calmed Alyssa down a bit.

After hanging up, she collapsed into a chair, staring at her blood-stained hands. Thinking about what had just happened, she couldn't stop trembling, her heart in a vice.

She couldn't bear the thought of losing Sebastian, especially since he got hurt because of her. Those guys were after her.

Reese and Malcolm arrived in no time. When Alyssa saw Reese, it was like a lifeline. She got up to greet them, but her legs gave out, and she almost fell. Luckily, Reese caught her.

It was the first time Reese had seen Alyssa so shaken. She asked, worried, "Are you okay?"

Alyssa's face was streaked with tears. "I'm fine, Reese, but Sebastian... he was bleeding so much. I'm so scared he might..."

Reese hugged Alyssa, gently patting her shoulder, trying to comfort her. "He'll be fine. Sebastian's tough. Don't worry."

Just then, the operating room door swung open, and Dr. Terry Perez walked out quickly. "Who's the family of the injured?"

Reese stepped forward. "I'm his sister. How is he?"

Terry shook his head. "It's serious. The head injury is critical. We can't guarantee success. The surgery is risky, and you might want to consider transferring him. Once we start, there's a chance he might not wake up."

Alyssa's emotions shattered. "What are you saying? He just got hit with a stick. How can it be that bad? You have to save him!"

Terry looked troubled. "The injury is in a critical area. It's not a simple surgery, and there's a risk. Even if the surgery goes well, everything would depend on whether he can wake up. If he can't, he might end up in a coma."
