Chapter 620 Discussing Marriage

Luckily, the night passed without any drama. Reese wasn't too worried about what Everly might do. After all, Everly was just a regular person. If she had any real skills, Vincent wouldn't have used her like that.

After dinner, Reese had just gotten back to her room when Malcolm walked in.

"Hey babe, want some fruit?" Malcolm asked.

"Nope," she replied.

"How about some milk?"

"No, thanks."

"Then..."

"Okay, can you just chill? I'm pregnant, but you don't need to be so jumpy. By the way, I'm not going to the hospital tomorrow. I need to hit up The Hawthorne Villa first."

Malcolm looked curious. "You planning to handle that thing for Sebastian?"

She nodded. "Yeah, they really like each other, so we should help them out. Plus, isn't Stephen trying to patch things up with me now? It's simple; I'll use this to get him to agree to Sebastian and Alyssa's marriage."

Malcolm raised an eyebrow. "How can you be so sure he'll go for it?"

"The stock market's been all over the place lately. I can tip him off on some good stocks to make some extra cash."

"I see what you're getting at. Stephen's always been about his own interests. This is actually perfect for him."

Family ties did matter. With just a bit of interaction, Reese had already figured out Stephen's personality.

That was why she felt confident promising Sebastian. Otherwise, she wouldn't have made such a bold promise.

Malcolm started massaging Reese's shoulders. "Babe, I'll go with you tomorrow."

"Don't you have work at the company?" She glanced at him. If she remembered right, the company had been pretty busy lately.

"No matter how busy, nothing's more important than you and our little one. Right, little one?" Malcolm's face lit up as he placed his hand on Reese's still-flat belly.

Seeing him so careful warmed Reese's heart. "It's just an embryo now; it doesn't know anything. Talking to it is like talking to the air."

"So what? One day, it'll know its dad was talking to it," Just knowing Reese was carrying his child made Malcolm happy. He hadn't expected her to get pregnant so soon.

Given Reese's past, he thought she might not want kids, so he never brought it up.

Reese was pretty shocked when she found out she was pregnant. She wasn't ready for it, and the news brought a mix of emotions she couldn't quite describe.

But seeing Malcolm happy made her happy too.

The next day, Reese and Malcolm headed to The Hawthorne Villa. Alyssa saw them about to leave and asked, "Malcolm, Reese, are you going to the hospital?"

Malcolm replied, "We're going to The Hawthorne Villa."

"Why are you going there?"

"We're going to talk about your marriage." Malcolm lightly tapped Alyssa's head, looking a bit annoyed. "Why's your memory so bad?"

Alyssa blushed when she heard they were going to discuss her marriage, but she also felt a bit anxious. "Malcolm, Reese, what if they don't agree to my marriage with Sebastian?"

"They will. Reese already talked to me about it. We can assure you the Hawthorne family will agree." Malcolm was confident because he knew Stephen would accept it.

Alyssa trusted Malcolm and Reese. "Alright, if you say so, I believe you. But if it doesn't work out, don't push it. It's better to let things happen naturally."

She didn't want it to become a big deal and have people think she was desperate to marry into the Hawthorne family.

"Yeah, I get it. Don't worry," Malcolm would definitely protect Alyssa's dignity. After all, she was a girl and needed to be a bit reserved.

The two of them headed straight to The Hawthorne Villa. The servants at the entrance looked shocked to see Reese and Malcolm. "You..."

With a cool and collected look, Reese got straight to the point, "Tell Stephen I want to see him."

The servant was so taken aback by Reese's boldness that they just stood there, speechless. Clearly, she had some serious backing and wasn't afraid of anything.

Knowing the clout these two had, the servant didn't dare to argue. They decided to go inform Stephen. "Please wait here for a moment. I'll go let Mr. Hawthorne know."

After the servant informed Clara and Stephen, Stephen was surprised but kept his cool. Clara, on the other hand, jumped up immediately. "What are they here for?"

The servant shook her head. "I'm not sure. They said they wanted to see Mr. Hawthorne."

Hearing that, Stephen quickly said, "Let them in."

Clara tried to stop him. "Are you nuts? You can't just let anyone in. Who knows what they're really after? Remember how they ignored you last time? They don't even see you as their father."

"You can't just turn her away. Even if she doesn't see me as her father, she's still my daughter. It's rare for her to come to me personally," Stephen insisted.

Stephen was genuinely happy to hear Reese had come, but Clara was not. She had a deep grudge against Reese.

Clara found his words laughable. "Isn't it a bit too late for that now? If you really cared about Reese, where were you before? It wasn't me who stopped you from fixing things with her; it was you who feared she'd take away the Hawthorne family's assets, so you did everything to push her out."

Clara's words hit Stephen hard.

He replied, "I regret it now. Not only do I regret it, but I also want Reese to come back. Besides, you know the company's current situation. If we don't make up with Reese, any issues with the company will be on you."

"You..."

Sebastian, who had been eavesdropping from upstairs, hurried down. "Mom, you have no idea how bad things are right now. The stock market is a mess. And you probably don't know that Reese is a financial genius. She owns the building where Dad goes for stock trading and needs a card to enter. The entire corporation is hers."

He had heard this from Stephen before. Although he knew Reese was impressive, he hadn't realized just how extraordinary she was.

This made him admire Reese even more.

Even if it wasn't for his marriage to Alyssa, he would still want to persuade Clara to let Stephen acknowledge Reese.

Now that Stephen had agreed, only Clara remained to be convinced. As for Alexander and Nathaniel, their opinions didn't matter.

Clara was stunned by Sebastian's words and stood up from her chair, looking at them in disbelief. "What did you say? That building belongs to Reese?"

That building was incredibly valuable, and even the Hawthorne family couldn't just buy it. She hadn't expected Reese to be its owner.

This girl had such remarkable abilities. Even most men couldn't achieve what she had.

No wonder Stephen was so eager to bring her back.

Stephen didn't care what Clara thought anymore. He was determined to bring Reese back, immediately instructing the servant, "Go invite them in and prepare some coffee."

"Yes, sir," The servant quickly went to carry out the orders.

Soon, Reese and Malcolm were brought inside by the servant.

Stephen greeted Reese warmly, "Please, have a seat."

Reese didn't stand on ceremony, sitting down with Malcolm.

Sebastian walked up to Reese, already quite familiar with her from their previous interactions. "Reese, are you here about Alyssa and me?"
