Chapter 521 What Do You Have to Compete with Me

Malcolm didn't go into detail with Giedon, just said, "He offended my wife and tried to run, so we caught him."

Giedon, watching like it was a show, laughed and teased the grim-faced Everhart next to him, "Tough luck, man. My nephew's super protective of his wife. Mess with her, and you're messing with him. You brought this on yourself."

Everhart snorted, "Giedon, you know feelings are a guy's Achilles' heel."

They can be used against him. He gotta be invulnerable.

"If it were me, I'd keep Reese hidden. That way, she wouldn't become a target and we'd avoid a lot of trouble. Our situation doesn't allow for this," Everhart added.

Malcolm sneered, glaring at Everhart with growing disdain. "Got it wrong? Only those who can't protect their partners say that. I can keep her safe. If you need to hide the one you love, you shouldn't be with her. If you're with her, you have to be responsible."

Louis raised an eyebrow at Everhart smugly. "Hear that? That's what a man should say. Unlike you, hiding your relationship and always worrying. People like you shouldn't even date."

Reese had more important things to do and didn't want to waste words on Everhart. His values meant nothing to her. She turned icy and detached.

"Honey, no need to waste words on him. We have things to do," she said.

Malcolm nodded. "Yeah, I know."

He turned to Giedon, "I'll leave him to you. Don't let him escape. Also, keep an eye on Nolan next door. Stop him from coming over. Call us if anything happens."

Nolan might not know Everhart was here yet, but they had to be cautious.

Giedon agreed, "No problem. If Nolan wants to take someone from me, it won't be easy."

Malcolm sneered, "I believe that. You and Nolan never got along."

They'd been at odds for years.

Before leaving, Reese said to Everhart, "Think it through and decide whether to tell us the truth. You have no other way out. You can't keep this secret forever. If you tell me, you might have a chance when Nolan falls. If not, I'll hand you over to Nolan, and you won't have a chance to live."

Everhart suddenly asked Reese seriously, "I can tell you, but there's one condition."

"Go ahead, I'll try to meet it." Reese was running out of patience with Everhart. If he played any more tricks, she wouldn't be polite.

Everhart leaned close to Reese and said, "If you leave Malcolm and be with me, I'll tell you."

Reese's jaw tightened, and her usually cold face turned stormy. Before Louis and the others could react, she grabbed Everhart's shoulder and kicked him in the stomach.

Everhart doubled over, pale and in pain, veins bulging on his forehead.

Reese's expression stayed cold as she gripped his jaw, eyes blazing. "Everhart, keeping you alive isn't about old feelings. Our history means nothing. Don't try to manipulate me with emotions that don't exist. You know that stuff doesn't work on me. Don't think I won't hurt you. You have three days to talk, or I'll get rough. You'll beg for mercy!"

With that, she tossed him aside like trash, not sparing him another glance. Louis mocked, "Well, well, well! You've really messed up this time! Who told you to say that? Look at the gap between you and Mr. Flynn. How could Reese ever choose you now?"

Louis's disgust for Everhart grew. He once saw some charm in the man, but now found him repulsive. Everhart's actions only confirmed Louis's belief that he was barely human.

Malcolm walked over, putting an arm around Reese's shoulder, his tone gentle, no anger on his face.

This surprised Giedon. It wasn't like his nephew to swallow his anger.

Reese glanced at Malcolm, worried he might be mad, but his deep eyes revealed nothing. He didn't seem angry, but his lips were tight.

She clung to Malcolm's shoulder, whispering in his ear, "Honey." Her voice was soft and sweet, like a kitten's, scratching at his heart.

Malcolm's fingers moved slightly on her shoulder, reassuring her. Then he remembered something and said to Giedon, "Didn't you bring in new recruits for training recently? Well, here's a prime candidate. You've got three days. Do whatever you want, just keep him alive."

Malcolm's ruthlessness left everyone speechless, treating Everhart like a punching bag. How could anyone endure such brutal treatment? The only rule: keep him alive.

Giedon stifled a laugh, knowing Malcolm wouldn't go easy on Everhart. To Malcolm, even a glance at his wife felt like theft, let alone Everhart's brazen words. It seemed like he had a death wish. Maybe, in some twisted way, Everhart deserved it.

Hearing Malcolm's words, Everhart shouted angrily, "Malcolm, are you trying to kill me? Using me as a punching bag for rookies? You might as well send me to Nolan for a quick death."

Malcolm's cold eyes glanced at Everhart. "I didn't want this, but you've gone too far. Trying to take my wife? Do you really think you can compete with me in looks, background, wealth, influence, and charm?"

A wicked grin crept across Malcolm's face. "Most importantly, you don't know how to make her happy." He knew how to bring immense joy to Reese.
