Chapter 383 Most Likely Knows
Alexander threw out a more practical question. "What do you think is more important for Dad: the future of the Hawthorne family or the daughter who has not been around for decades?"
Alexander's point was not to lose sight of the bigger picture.
Sebastian's last hope was completely shattered by this sentence from Alexander.
He temporarily changed the topic. "What about Nathaniel?"
"He's busy over there, probably won't come over for a while."
The two elder sons of the Hawthorne family were career-oriented. While they were discussing Stephen's affairs, a sharp voice sounded at the door.
"Stephen."
As soon as Sebastian heard this voice, he knew who it was, and he helplessly massaged his temples.
"You told Mom?"
Alexander glanced at Sebastian's askance. "Do you think I wanted to tell her? The internet is abuzz. Videos and photos are all over the place. Even if we wanted to keep it a secret, we couldn't."
Sebastian knew Clara's temper. If she saw the news online, she definitely wouldn't let it go. Now, with Reese's appearance, Clara might have felt like she was facing a major threat.
It seemed they didn't even need to take action now.
Clara hurriedly walked in. "What's going on with you guys? How did Stephen end up in the hospital?"
Alexander's expression remained indifferent. "I just found out and rushed back."
Clara then shifted her gaze to Sebastian and scolded him. "What's wrong with you? Can't you even take care of your dad? And what's the deal with the online stuff? Who is Reese?"
Sebastian shrugged helplessly. "You already know who Reese is, don't you?"
The journalists must have covered every detail clearly. Clara was sensitive, how could she not have noticed? Besides, Reese was also kicked out by Clara along with her mother back then.
This incident was probably something she won't forget for the rest of her life.
Clara's expression suddenly turned serious. "So, Reese is really the daughter of that woman back then. They are really persistent. After so many years, they still want to show up in front of us."
Upon hearing this, Sebastian felt a bit annoyed.
"Mom, you can't say that. No matter what, it was you who kicked them out back then. And Reese didn't want to enter the Hawthorne family, but we want her to come back."
Clara couldn't believe it upon hearing this, and her anger burst forth.
"Are you out of your mind? Do you really want her to come back? She's been out there all these years, who knows what she has become? If she comes back, she'll definitely cause trouble for our family. Are you all really naive? If this woman comes back, it's obviously to compete for our property."
Clara watched as all her hard work over the years, waiting for Stephen to pass away so that the Hawthorne family's property would be theirs, was now suddenly disrupted by the appearance of another woman.
Sebastian felt a headache listening to Clara's talk.
"Mom, can't you stop overthinking? Reese doesn't lack money, and she's married into the Flynn family. Do you think the Flynn family lacks money? Her conditions are quite favorable, and she wouldn't covet the Hawthorne family's property. If she really wanted the Hawthorne family's property, how could she say those things in public?"
Clara glared at Sebastian. "You're really a fool. Do you know others' intentions? Did she say she doesn't want the Hawthorne family's property? Who will hate money? And Sebastian, we're family. How can you call her your sister? Has she brainwashed you?"
Sebastian was annoyed by Clara's nagging and shouted, "Mom, even if you don't admit it now, Dad will eventually bring her back. Unless she disappears, it's just a matter of time."
Clara fell silent upon hearing Sebastian's words. It seemed to remind her of something. After all, if there was no Reese, did they really have anything to worry about?
Wouldn't everything be resolved, then?
But Sebastian had no idea that Clara was already planning to deal with Reese.
Sebastian glanced back at Stephen and then turned to Clara. "Mom, I'll go out and get Dad something to eat in case he is hungry when he wakes up."
"Okay, you go. Alexander and I will stay here."
Some things were better kept from Sebastian. He wasn't very resourceful, and telling him certain things was just like telling everyone.
After Sebastian left, Clara approached Alexander and whispered, "Have you found out who this Reese really is?"
"Don't worry, Mom. I'll handle this matter. The Hawthorne family has come this far, thanks to our collective efforts. I won't let outsiders take a piece of the pie."
As for that sister, he would find time to meet her and see what kind of person had captivated Sebastian.
Clara thought Alexander understood her intentions and lightly patted his shoulder.
"I'll leave this matter to you."
"Don't worry, Mom."
In these days, the Hawthorne family left Clara to take care of Stephen, as there were a lot of messes to clean up. Nathaniel definitely couldn't come back temporarily. As for Sebastian, besides running errands and helping out, he didn't have much impact.
Only Alexander was dealing with company matters and the aftermath.
Reese returned to the Flynn family with Malcolm, and naturally, Grandpa Flynn had questions. After all, this matter had become widely known, and it was hard for Grandpa Flynn to ignore it.
As soon as they crossed the threshold, they saw the whole family gathered around the table, looking serious and sad.
Alyssa subconsciously glanced at Malcolm, and from the situation, they both knew what was going on.
Reese just entered directly, looking calm.
"Reese."
Alyssa wanted to stop her, but it was too late. She had wanted to discuss the situation again, but Reese just walked in directly.
Malcolm chuckled lightly and patted Alyssa's shoulder.
"I think you're used to this now."
After all, Reese had always been unpredictable.
Alyssa shrugged helplessly. "Well, as long as you're here to shield us if the sky falls, we're not afraid."
Grandpa Flynn, seeing Reese and Malcolm return, slammed the table in anger.
"Sit down, all of you!"
They sat down. After Grandpa Flynn's stern gaze swept around, it landed on Reese.
"What's going on? How did Reese get involved with the Hawthorne family? Is she really Stephen's daughter?"
Grandpa Flynn had just been preparing to rest today when Jason rushed in urgently, saying there was trouble. He thought it was something with the company, but when he saw the reports, he was truly surprised. He had sent them to congratulate others, but they ended up causing trouble.
