Chapter 354 Turning Danger into Safety

Reese naturally wouldn't tell Gideon that she intercepted this deal, as it would bring her a lot of trouble if it were to be investigated later.
She got straight to the point. " All you need to know is that the deal is now in my hands. I'll exchange it with you using the contracts I have, Gideon. You won't lose out."
A hint of surprise flashed in Gideon's eyes, sharper than a fox's.
"The contract for that project is really in your hands?"
Up to now, he still didn't know who intercepted this project, only hearing it was a new company. However, the person who managed to outmaneuver him was someone he had never heard of.
When he was assigned this task, he had high hopes, feeling quite confident. Yet, things had taken an unexpected turn.
Reese chuckled lightly. "Gideon, let's not fool each other. If I tried to deceive you with a fake contract, I probably wouldn't walk out of here today."
Gideon naturally didn't doubt her, but he did wonder about the contract she held and where she got it from.
The profit from this project was much more than what he had snatched from Nolan. However, in any exchange, there would definitely be a loser—the one who intercepted the contract. So, from whom did Reese get it?
Or could it be that Reese's identity was not as simple as it seemed? Was there more to her?
A series of questions surfaced in Gideon's mind.
Afraid that Gideon might figure things out soon, which wouldn't be in her favor, Reese didn't push too hard. She calmly said, "Nolan is still waiting for my message. Gideon, if you're willing, you can return that business to us, and I'll transfer the contract for this project to you. Isn't that a win-win situation?"
It sounded good, but Gideon had encountered many deceitful individuals. Seeing how clever Reese was, he wondered if she was playing a game with him.
However, upon reflection, he didn't think she had the audacity to play tricks on his turf.
Gideon also wanted to bring Reese under his wing. If Nolan lost such a valuable asset, their Harmony Alliance would stand out on its own sooner or later.
With this in mind, his guard began to lower.
"Show me the contract," he requested.
"No problem." Reese was straightforward today. They couldn't afford to mess with Harmony Alliance now. Fortunately, Gideon seemed to appreciate her, so there shouldn't be any immediate danger.
Louis handed over the contract. Gideon glanced at it; the contract seemed fine.
Slamming the table, Gideon said confidently, "Alright, since you're sincere about working with me, I'll give you this favor. But consider my words, Reese. If you're willing to come over, you can make any requests, as long as they're feasible."
Upon hearing this, the onlookers murmured again.
"Gideon is really generous this time, offering such enticing terms."
"I don't think anyone else has received such treatment."
"Except for one person."
"Him? I still don't know who he is, but he seems mysterious and influential in Gideon's eyes."
"If Reese agrees, Gideon will have a powerful ally."
"But I'm not so sure. Reese seems peculiar and aloof, not easy to get along with. Yet, she still works for others. Besides, working for Nolan isn't any better than working for Gideon."
However, Reese wasn't concerned about who offered her the most benefits or the highest status. She just wanted a simple life and to stay away from complicated matters. If it weren't for her desire to find out who her biological father was from Nolan, she wouldn't have even stepped into Harmony Alliance, let alone deal with these petty intrigues that gave her a headache.
Rubbing her temples, Reese appeared impatient but maintained a polite tone with Gideon. After all, she couldn't afford to be more aggressive than necessary on his turf.
"Gideon, let's focus on the matter at hand. Let's conclude this and discuss the rest later."
Reese's response was diplomatic, neither accepting nor rejecting. She couldn't read Gideon's temperament now. If she angered him and he decided not to let them leave, it would be troublesome.
Seeing her approach, Gideon didn't push further. However, he was known for his persistence in getting what he wanted. He would always offer the best conditions, compelling enough to make his desired recruits willingly come over.
But Reese seemed different from the others he typically dealt with. He felt she was somewhat aloof, not easily swayed by material things. He couldn't tell if she was pretending or genuinely uninterested.
If she wasn't interested, he couldn't understand why she had joined Nolan's camp.
"Alright, I hope you won't disappoint me, Reese. The doors of Harmony Alliance are always open to you." After saying this, he instructed his subordinate, "Make sure that business deal goes directly to Nolan."
The subordinate nodded. "Understood, Gideon."
Reese hadn't expected things to go so smoothly. This place wasn't somewhere to stay for long. She stood up.
"Well, Gideon, we'll take our leave. We'll have someone deliver the contract transfer to Harmony Alliance."
"Alright, then I won't see you out."
Gideon's narrow eyes squinted, his smile warm but lacking any warmth that Reese could feel. Instead, it made her feel uneasy.
After leaving Harmony Alliance, Kay and Louis breathed a sigh of relief.
"My goodness, I was almost scared to death. I never expected things to go so smoothly. Could it be that God is helping us?"
"Maybe Miss Brooks is lucky, or maybe her strong presence intimidated the boss of Harmony Alliance."
However, Reese didn't share their sense of relief. Leaving Harmony Alliance left her feeling unsettled.
Furrowing her brow, she cautioned them, "Let's not celebrate too soon. Gideon has his eyes on us, and he will investigate who intercepted this project and how I obtained it. He won't overlook these details."
Her biggest concern now was whether her intervention would make Gideon hold onto her tightly. She just wanted to climb out of Nolan's pit and avoid falling into another one, especially since Harmony Alliance might not be any better than Nolan's camp.
The atmosphere at Harmony Alliance was too oppressive. People there were superficially flattering but likely feared Gideon behind his back.
