Chapter 602 Reese Performs the Surgery Personally

Alyssa was freakin' out, almost hitting the deck, clinging to Terry's sleeve tightly. "No way, you gotta save him, right? I'm begging you, I need him to live, no matter what it takes."

Terry was just as stressed. "This ain't up to us. He messed up his head in a really bad spot."

Alyssa, totally lost, turned to Malcolm. "Malcolm, you gotta think of something! Find the best doc in the world to save Sebastian."

Malcolm frowned, quickly steadying Alyssa. "Don't worry, we'll figure out a way to save Sebastian."

Reese's eyes went dark, and she jumped in, "Let me handle it."

Terry thought Reese was ready to sign, so he handed her the pen and the surgery consent form.

Reese shoved it aside. "I'll do the surgery!"

Terry was floored. "What? You can't just do that! You're not a doc here. If you're from another hospital, you need proof and a signature."

Reese stayed cool as a cucumber. She took off her watch. "No time for signatures from other hospitals. Plus, I'm not tied to any hospital."

She was a free doctor.

Terry was even more freaked out. "No way you can operate on a patient."

Malcolm stepped up. "She's from Atlanta Medical School."

Terry was stunned, looking at Reese. Graduates from Atlanta Medical School were top-notch; any one of them was a top talent.

Rumor had it there was a genius woman at that school, super mysterious, no one had ever seen her, not even her name was known.

But in a life-or-death situation, who'd take that gamble? No one could verify her identity, and the risk of her botching the surgery was too high.

Terry still turned her down politely. "Sorry, even if you say you're from the med school, I can't let you in. Too many fakes out there. I can't take the hit if something goes wrong."

Malcolm frowned. "Then get your director over here."

Terry now thought they were just causing trouble and changed his tone. "Are you here to save someone or mess around? You think you can just waltz into the OR?"

Seeing this, Alyssa stepped up to the doc. She dropped her usual bossy attitude and pleaded. "Please let her in. She's really good and super respected in the medical field. If she does the surgery, Sebastian might make it."

Terry didn't want to argue anymore. "You got two choices. Let us do the surgery, or transfer him to another hospital right now."

Reese's patience was running thin. "You just said if we transfer him now, he might not even make it to the OR."

Malcolm, fed up with the back-and-forth, told Justin next to him, "Call their director and tell him to get here ASAP, or this hospital's shutting down tomorrow!"

Justin nodded. "Got it!"

Hearing Malcolm, Terry shot them a weird look. They could call his director? Who did these guys think they were, talking all high and mighty?

If the director didn't show up, the hospital wouldn't open tomorrow? That sounded hardly true.

Just then, a nurse popped out. "Dr. Perez, are we doing this surgery or what?"

Terry sneered, "I'd love to, but they won't let me. These folks are just here to stir up trouble, now they wanna call the director. Do they think they own the place or something?"

Alyssa was about ready to slap Terry into next week.

He couldn't save Sebastian, and he wouldn't let anyone else try.

Justin wrapped up the call, and soon enough, the director came rushing over. Seeing Malcolm, he looked shocked. "Mr. Flynn, what brings you here?"

Malcolm's eyes were dark, his face tight, and his words cold as ice. "Your docs can't save the patient, and now you won't let someone from the med school help? Do I need to call Thomas to confirm before you let her in?"

The director, spotting Reese, was even more gobsmacked. He'd seen her photo in Thomas's office and wondered why Thomas had a girl's pic on his desk. After asking, he found out she was the person Thomas admired most in the medical field. Despite her young age, she was already a legend, though she kept a low profile.

Back then, every major hospital had fought to recruit Reese, but she turned them all down, promising only to help if needed.

Terry, seeing the director being so polite to Malcolm, couldn't help but ask, "What's going on?"

"You idiot, this is our hospital's guardian angel. This place wouldn't be here without Mr. Flynn's help. And this is Thomas's most admired protégé, who's made huge contributions to medical history. The anti-cancer drug was brought back by Reese, saving countless lives. We'd be honored to have her operate, and you wouldn't let her in!" the director scolded.

Terry was stunned. "I... I thought she was bluffing. We're talking a man's life here; I couldn't let her operate without knowing for sure."

Reese had no time for this nonsense.

She turned to the director, "Since you've confirmed who I am, I need to get in there and operate on my brother."

The director replied politely, "Of course, but I have one request, if you don't mind."

Reese nodded, "Go ahead."

"Could you let our doctors watch and learn? It'd be an honor for our hospital to witness such a rare opportunity."

Reese was always polite to those who showed respect. "I'm more than willing if it helps more doctors gain experience to save lives."

The director was over the moon and brimming with excitement.

He instructed Terry, "Hurry up and gather the docs to watch Reese's surgery. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance."

After all, it was rare to see such a legendary figure in the medical field perform surgery.
